I am going thru menopause and have not had sex in about 3 years (no lobito), anyway I had sex recently and it was very painful... like my vagina had closed up for business!!! It felt very constricted and as I said was extremely painful. What vaginal conditions can cause these types of symptoms? Has anyone else experienced this?
When I started going through menopause I had all typical symptoms, night sweats, lack of sleep, decreased sex drive, hot flashes (every 8 mintues).Then I went on Activella which with one pill changed my life. I was great for about 7 months and then I started bleeding again. I had a huge fibroid partially removed (couldn't get it all) about 3months ago and have never stopped bleeding from that.
I was fully in menopause, hot flashes, atrophic tissue, painful intercourse, FSH being 61 (over 40 indicates menopause). Recently I had exam because I felt like I had pms and was told my tissue was healthy, my FSH was down to 14.9, my hot flashes have stopped, sex was enjoyable again and now I am having a regular period. I was wondering how many women experience this. I heard you have to go 1 year to be in menopause, I haven't had one since May 2006.
m used to a good sex life with my husband of 30 years, so this painful sex is very troubling. It began about 2 years ago and has become worse. I've tried lubricants and they work - to an extent - but there always seems to be at least mild discomfort. Anyhow, due to both my husband and me coming down with the flu (on separate occasions) and some travel, we did not have sex for 3 months. Last night we were finally able to be intimate - and it was painful.
If you are close to your period it can cause your period to start sooner and cause more painful cramps before your period starts. There has also been some link between more painful cramping in women who are closer to menopause or in menopause. A warm compress or heating pad should help.
Endometriosis, fibroids and UTIs can also cause pain after orgasm so its best if you see a doctor to rule those things out.

I can feel a lump when I am standing and it is painful to touch. When I lay down however I cannot feel it. I also have been having horrible periods and mood swings. My last three periods were 15 days, 17 days and 3 days. The last one was so short and it was also a week late. I wasn't on the pill before I had the tubal and had fairly reg. periods, 5-7 days. My moods swings are horrible too. I feel like I am going to have a raging tantrum all the time, or cry.
when my wife and I have sex, my penis gets very irriated on the outside just under the glans penis during and after sex and when I ejaculate it really burns when the semen touches the outside of the penile shaft. When I remove my penis, I cannot hardly touch it to treat it. I apply A&D ointment for a few days and it clears up until I have sex again. I have never had anything as painful as this.
m just going to have to come to terms with the fact that penetrative sex is painful, so I should just stick to oral sex and mutual masturbation. I find this to be an unsatisfactory answer. I have also been told to "learn how to have pain free sex," with no further explanation.
I do have vaginal endo, I had an exam to see if the tendons around my vagina have hardened, which is the most common cause of this type of pain. As it turns out they have not hardened or become tight.

I'm not on any hormones or any medication at all. Had my last period Feb 2012 and no bleeds since then apart from after sex. Had first sex after menopause Nov 2012 and it's been going on since then. Not much blood but I also feel sore afterwards. I'm going to try Replense to see if that helps.

I am 51, going through menopause and hadn't had sex in 3 1/2 years. I attempted to have sex yesterday. I couldn't get wet, we tried lube. I expected some dryness bcuz I'm mid-menopausal. He is somewhat large. It hurt worse than I remember losing my virginity hurting. Will sex always be painful now?
I'm sorry you're dealing with this. Bleeding after menopause is actually more common than most people realize. And in most cases, it ends up being nothing serious, oftentimes just some sporadic ovarian activity (e.g., getting rid of those last eggs). But also, the ovaries never shut down; they produce hormones our whole lives.

my doctor told me I was suppose to wait 7 days before the nuvaring can take effect after I inserted the nuvaring on the 4th day of my period.. I had sex with my boyfriend on two of the days before the 7 days were up.. but we did the pull out method. I have an ovulation calender on my phone and it said that I would ovulate a couple days after the 7th day was up.. do I have anything to worry about still if I didnt ovulate during the time I had sex?

hi i had sex last night and it become very painful in my lower abdinum when we finished it was so painful it brought me to tears in second i coulnt move then i started feeling sick and breathin fast and shacking as i moved of my bed when i got to the door i just passed out i didnt no i did till my boyfriend who was very worried woke me and sed i was out for around 10 seconds i was sweating he said i was shaking whilest on the floor i didnt go to hospital as it was rather embarrasing ive had pain
