I cannot believe we are not told of the horrors of bartholin gland removal surgery and what to expect to the degree we should. I had removal of an avocado sized bartholin gland cyst as well as the gland 7 weeks ago, after a marsupilization and two other catheter attempts (both of which got infected and did not work). I am not in pain finally anymore but it was the most painful experience I have ever been through (even after having had 4 children).

A few months ago, my OB GYN told me that I had a bartholin gland abcess and had it lanced and gave me antibiotics. It has since healed. Since then, I have learned that my ex-boyfriend was hested positive for HSV-2. Although I have had no symptoms (that I know of) for HSV -2 (or even HSV - 1 for that matter -- I've never had a cold sore in my life), I am concerned that the bartholin abcess was a sign of the HSV virus. Look carefully at a detailed diagram of the female anatomy. Is your lump in the vicinity of the Bartholin gland? If so, call you PCP, tell them what you suspect and ask if you should schedule an appt in that office, or with an ob-gyn. I think women make much better ob-gyns, on the whole. Meanwhile, try soaking in Epsom salts, and try using a hot, then cold compress on the area. Use as hot as you can stand, but not hot enough to burn that delicate tissue.
Are you sure it's your lymph nodes? My first pregnancy i got gland infections really bad. I can't remember what it's called but the doctor said it's the lubricating gland. It swelled so bad and was so painful. I had to have it drained three times before they finally put me on a preventative antibiotic. Either way it's the swelling is a sign of infection so see your doc as soon as possible.
I had unprotected sex Nov. 26 and a week later started having swelling in my Bartholin gland on my left and uncomfortable irritation of my skin around my buttocks. It slowly went away but still sort of remains and no recentlg I developed another much larger and much more painful bump on the other lip.. when I first found it I slightly squeezed it and puss came out like a pimple., but now its very red, very sensitive and fedls as if its filled with fluids or something. I was told by a nurse about five to six months ago that it is a cyst. Well when pressure is placed on it or if it is stretched it can become painful. My quesiton is are these lumps able to be drianed or removed? The lump is about the size of a nikle.
About 2 days ago, my outer labia majora began to itch/tingle at the roots of my pubic hair. Then last night, my left Labia majora became very swollen. I'm going to add a little to this. In July I had a bartholin cyst that abcessed... quite painfully in fact. I ended up in the hospital. This happened right after I was home sick for a few days. This looks exactly like my bartholin. Is there another gland that could be having the same issue?

Looked in the mirror and saw a huge lump on my left side. It was swollen under the opening off to the side. Maybe bartholin gland acting up? I have this weird red streak on the inside of my minoras that will itch and burn if you touch it. It spreads and then starts to disappear. I think before I took the cipro it was invading my clitoris because it was hurting and the redness had reached that area. When I was on the antibiotics the weird redness was going away.
