Painful contractions not progressing

Common Questions and Answers about Painful contractions not progressing

contractions

Avatar f tn I thought for sure it was labor because with my first I had contractions for three days 5 minutes apart and mildly painful but only dilated a cm a day until they admitted me at 3 cm and the rest of my labor took over 12 hours. This time I didn't want to be in the hospital that long so I waited it out tried to sleep, walked my treadmill and kept busy but the third day this time they went away and I didn't dilate at all!!
Avatar f tn I been having small contractions ever since 1am and it's noe 10:37pm and the contractions are a little more painful but still not close enough like for me to go to the hospital. I'm 40w+2d as for today and at my last appointment which it was last Thursday I was completely closed not dilated or effaced at all. Those this mean that I'm progressing slowly? I still don't want to go to the L&D because I know they will send me home as my contractions are not that close.
1287128 tn?1331134538 When I went into labor with both of my boys, my contractions were not painful until the midwife broke my water around 7-8cm. The only way I could really tell it was real labor was the consistency of the contractions and the pressure. I know everyone is different, but if they remain very consistent, I would think you are in labor or very very close!! I would wait another hour and if the timing stays regular or gets closer, I would go in. Can't hurt to be checked!!!
Avatar f tn Yes, not all contractions are painful. They only get painful when you're in active labor and its progressing.
2020005 tn?1628125976 And last night after a couple hours of my sharp pain I was sleeping in bed and was woke up to two very very painful contractions in a row.. they stopped completely after that, thank god, but I haven't had any contractions at all not even BH this whole pregnancy so that scares me!
3054444 tn?1353976571 i'm 39+3 and I have been getting them since I was 30 weeks. They have progressed to where I am having them everyday. If is wasn't for the fact that some are closer together and some are farther apart I would say they are braxton hicks. I was in NST 2 weeks ago and I was told my contractions weren't braxton hicks. Mine get really painful to were I am almost in tears sometimes.
Avatar f tn Has anyone's doctor sent them home when they were having painful contractions every 2-6 minutes?
Avatar f tn I believe the difference is whether or not you are progressing. Like the contractions getting more regular and closer together, becoming more dilated. I hope this helped.
Avatar f tn My first contractions felt like I had to have a BM, a lot of cramping and pressure, then it just went to very painful cramps that started in my back and wrapped around to my uterus.
Avatar f tn She never described them with pain, so I told her that maybe she was just lucky and her contractions werent painful, because A LOT of women on here have described them as painful and that's what I need to prepare myself for
7753764 tn?1401853590 Monday October 6th I started having irregular but painful contractions, I went to labor and delivery only to be sent home dilated but not progressing after half hour. I went home contractions all night every five minutes but not lasting long. I went back in to labor and delivery Tuesday at noon due to intensive pressure and pain in my vagina. Now I had a scheduled c section so if I started progressing they said they would have no choice to do an earlier c section instead.
Avatar f tn If your dilation is progressing they will most likely admit you. If it is not, they may choose to give you another hour, or may just discharge you. The crappy part is, even if you have bad contractiona 4-5min apart but are not dilating any further they will still send you home and you just keep suffering from labor contractions until you progress more or (in my case) you get induced (I stayed with mt contractions for 6 weeks. Awful.).
Avatar f tn Id rather be due in two days and not progressing very much than not due for months and progressing way to fast for my lil one to cook for the right amount of time:( i hate being scared of progressing more and having him so damn early
Avatar f tn I'm being induced on Sunday morning I was due march 19 I am not contracting my baby is easily 9 pounds. And i am around 4 cm dialated. And no signs of progressing earlier. Super miserable but mappy I am finally getting this baby out and to meet her!
Avatar f tn Last weekend i had what im guessing braxton hicks because it wasnt very painful and wasnt progressing but it was all night every 5 minutes. My midwife told me to take a tylenol and if u can sleep throught it then its not labour so i did and i slept.
Avatar f tn t mean your labor is progressing fast enough. I was sent home one night even though my contractions were every 4-5min. Even though I was contracting labor wasn't progressing. I went back the next night in serious active labor and delivered within 4 hours of walking into the hospital. Be patient. Take a warm bath, and go for a drive down a bumpy road, it helps!
Avatar f tn I started labor naturally but at 6cm I stopped progressing so they popped my water, did the epidural, and gave me pitocin which made it way more painful. Within an hour of them hooking me up with pitocin my daughter was born, only 14 minutes of pushing and a minor internal tear that needed a few stitches. My recommendation, try to have your water popped first +if youre dilated a bit already) and give it a little bit before getting the pitocin.
Avatar f tn They can send u away even if they are consistant if your not progressing with them.
Avatar f tn I had it done Wednesday and I've been having contractions ever since but they're not progressing. They're painful as hell but they're not getting any closer. My fiance and I had sex last night to try and help and all day I have just felt so much pressure and I can barely walk without feeling like I'm going to tear something in my vagina.. Is this normal have you ever had this happen to you? I'm 39 weeks and 4 days.
Avatar f tn I have really painful contractions but theyre less than a minute away and then they stop for 5-10 minutes then they come back for less than a minute and come and go and stuff they are VERY painful but I was checked today and im not dilated or effaced at al
