cortisone (2 times) did not help, now it has progressed to my shoulder (the elbow is still bad), again cortisone did not help, I can not do much with the arm so injury is unlikely. Night is the worst as the pain spreads to the muscle between the shoulder and elbow and wakes me after a few hours sleep. Pain meds don't help, PT has not helped, This now is more than a year since the first pain in the elbow and 4 months since the shoulder started.
The pain seems to worsen when my shoulder is exposed to cold air or when I am active. The pain also radiates down my arm causing severe pain in my elbow and wrist and also my hand. I sometimes lose feeling in my arm and find it hard to move my arm. Is there anything I can do to decrease or manage this pain? And is it possible that I have a pinched nerve in my shoulder?
Went to emergency with severe pain in right shoulder, up into the neck and down the right arm (woke up with it). Have been on 500 mg. Naproxen , twice daily, for 3 weeks, and 10 mg. Pms-cyclobenzaprine every 8 hours. I'm still experiencing pain plus some new tingling down the arm. Should I be going back to my doctor? It seems this is taking an unusually long time to get better.

Your symptoms appear to indicate that swelling or other issues in your shoulder are aggravating the nerve that runs down your arm into your fingers. Are you doing anything to treat the shoulder injury like taking advil and applying ice periodically? Are you able to keep the arm and shoulder relatively motionless as with a sling to keep it from getting reinjured? How did the injury happen?
I have seen the ortho five times and had about 17 PT sessions at this point and I keep hearing something different everytime I see the two people. The pain down the front of my arm is doing better but my arm pit area still hurts and it still hurts to move my arm across the front of my body. At one point a month ago I lost feeling in my outer fingers for two days and with some traction work at PT the feeling came back.
Constant dull ache but not tender to touch. Hurts to use/raise arm in any direction. Moments of severe pain in shoulder, upper arm, and sometimes radiating down into the elbow and hand. This occurs when sitting still (watching TV, etc), during the day (normal use), and at night (laying down in any position). The severe pain lasts for minutes to hours then tapers off back into just the dull ache and pain with movement.
I have no neck pain and good ROM with each shoulder. When I raise my right arm/shoulder up sideways though, I do feel the right arm pain.
I'm a 4yr breast cancer survivor and we were concerned about a possible cancer spread so we MRI'd the shoulders 2 weeks ago and the scans came back negative (I don't know that they covered the arm areas though..

I don't see an actual question in your post so I won't try to guess what it may be. If you do have a specific question please feel free to ask it. ..... And please provide a bit more info. How long has this been going on? Again, which arm?
This could be a shoulder problem or a spinal structure issue.
Good morning. I have had arm pain for a couple of weeks. Seemed like it might have been just from straining it during inventory. But it hasn't gotten better. It comes and goes, and gets much worse when I'm sitting. It doesn't hurt at all when I first get out of bed. No apparent swelling. I haven't experienced any jaw or chest pains-but a cpouple of days ago, the bottom of my right foot became very painful when walking.
After a few days of rest and Motrin I still had limited range of motion at the shoulder area and continued buring, tingling feeling from shoulder blade down arm into hand at times. After PT for 7 weeks the shoulder strength seemed fine with no serious pain but slight discomfort. An Mri was performed due to this buring feeling and the report came back as "Linear increased signal undermining the superior labrum may reflect POSSIBLE degeneration and/or tear". !
I sometimes experience shoulder pain, pain radiating to my left breast and tingling pain in my thumb. I don't know if taking vitamin B12 and using ice and cold patches will be good for you but they certainly help me. Maybe you can ask your doctor before trying. I hope and pray for your fast recovery.
t have the constant pain like I did, but if I try to stretch my arm or move it a certain way, I get a burning feeling the runs from my right shoulder all the way down my arm to my hand, the burning pain usually goes away after a couple min. I can still use my arm, but I don't have the same range of motion, I can't lie with my arm under my head, and even trying to shave my legs is a chore. Anyone have any idea what might be wrong. Would an exray show if something is wrong with the muscle?
A few months ago, I was stopped dead in my tracks (was leaving work, simply walking to my car)with this horrendous pain under my left shoulder balde. It was so bad, I could hardly breath, turn my head or walk to my car. It went away w/in a few days to a week. About a month after that, the same thing happened (was just standing on my front porch, went to go inside)but to the right side this time.. Again, that went away with in a few days..
I have severe sharp shooting pain behind my right shoulder blade and down into my right arm, so far it has just been a couple of weeks. It is nearly unbearable. First I went to my family doctor,he gave me some muscle relaxers. The pain was not unbearable at that point, then a few days later it came with a vengeance.
I went them to a chiropractor,(who i have been to before ) He has adjusted me used ultrasound, and acupuncture. It was worse after. I have only had 2 treatments of adjusting.

I've been having severe shoulder pain. It goes down my left shoulder blade and down to the left side of my breast. I'm 14wks and 4 days and trying to get used to my new sleeping habits since it hurts my ribs if I lay on my stomach. To my knowledge I haven't been sleeping on it or anything (my shoulder) but it gets to the point that I just have to lay my arm down. If I have something in my hand while the sharp pains happen, it usually falls from where I have no control.
So I'm 23 weeks and the last 2 days I've had really bad neck and shoulder pain. I did break my collarbone about 3 years ago but I don't think that's what its from. Could it be my boobs getting bigger weighing my shoulders down?
The symptoms include pain at the level of the problem (i.e. neck or back etc) and pain that may radiate down the shoulder, arm or leg (depending on where the problem is). In more advanced cases, muscle weakness or sensory symptoms such as tingling or numbness may occur. Radiculopathy is best diagnosed with MRI of the neck.
Shoulder pain in the setting of a tremor may be due to Parkinson's disease. The tremor in Parkinson's disease occurs at rest and improves with movement.
