Avatar n tn Take pain relief as directed on the packet and apply a cold pack to both knees. Try and keep the legs elevated. Make an appointment with your doctor so that he can refer you for xrays to see what is going on. It may be that the doctor will be able to see if you have fluid build up on the knees and this may need to be drained. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn the pain is at the right side of my right knee, its situated near the fibula, not indicating that my bone is the one hurting, the pain is distinctive as it only hurts in a manner or form of a thread, the pain doesn't take up all of the right part of my knee, its just a thread shape pain that seems to extend from the femur down to the fibula.
Avatar f tn m very hopeful that your hip will get some relief after your knee is repaired. That has been a huge stress on your hip as we talked about in your earlier post. You are so very young to have to be facing these problems for the rest of your life and it's so unfair when a young person has CP (Chronic Pain) such as you have. Katie, just remember what I've told you, that I'm here for you ANYTIME!!! You will be in my Thoughts and Prayers. I'm sending you MEGA ((((HUGS))))......
Avatar m tn I have knee pain in my right knee when I kneel down on it.About a year ago the same knee for some reason unknown to me got very swollen & had to use crutches for about a week. Anyway when I kneel down it is like kneeling on a tack. Then it has a sensation of a rug burn to the touch. After about five times of this happening I looked more closely. On the right lower outer edge of knee cap it gets a swell pocket. It does not swell up the entire knee just this oval like shaped pocket.
Avatar f tn the only thing to give it a glimmer of relief is the knee brace i have to wear now. the pain is on my right knee, it varies where it hurts but lately it's on the right outside part. sometimes when i'm sitting in the butterfly position the pain is in the same place but it extends to the front of my kneecap. i dont know what to do help!!

Avatar m tn Taping can give immediate pain relief and also helps in correcting abnormal positioning of the patella. You can continue this until proper stretching is achieved and till patella balances. Soft tissue therapy and stretching help loosen tight structures. The exact stretch depends upon which muscles are tight. Once pain has resolved then strengthening exercises can be started to prevent the condition from returning. Surgery is also an option.
Avatar f tn My Sport’s Ortho said that the swelling was common with the torn cartilage but should go down in time. I began searching on the Web for a magical pain relief remedy (other than my already supplementation of Glucosamine Sulfate, Chondrotin, Taurine, Collagen, HA, Cats Claw, Bromelain, MSM, etc., etc., etc….all of which I have been taking for years due to 27 yrs of cycling….but at almost 68yo, something had to give).
Avatar n tn I need relief from horrible pain in my knee from the Synvisc shot? The pain is thruout my leg but mainly my shin, hurts worse than shin splits. Any advice?
773646 tn?1239225659 Hi to all - w/ greetings to my friend Khiba - I have tried Lyrica and had a reaction of involuntary jerking. I didn't have tremendous results with neurontin, but it did help at high doses. I'm currently involved in the vicious trap of narcotics, but have MS as well as Sys. Sclerosis so have joint pain that's really bad on top of the MS pain. Also osteoporosis and spinal problems causing pain.
Avatar m tn I have been experiencing joint pain, muscle pain, cramping, swelling and stiffness in my left leg for over a month - in my knee, behind my knee and in my calf. It is worse at end of day. It often feels as if my leg won't support me when I stand from a sitting position. I do not recall injuring my leg. I have tried heat & ice packs and massage - all of which offer some temporary relief.
Avatar n tn Cortisone injections are very common to give temporary relief from pain and inflammation. Because of its long-term side effects though, there may be a limit as to how many shots he can get during the year. Many doctors may also be reluctant to give more than a certain number of shots overall, and eventually recommend surgery as a more permanent solution. A lot will depend on how well your husband does with the shots.
Avatar f tn m not a doctor and cannot diagnose your condition, a knee brace might be a suitable solution for you. Knee braces can provide support, stability, and pain relief for various knee issues, including meniscus tears. By wearing a knee brace, you can alleviate some of the stress on your knee and promote healing.
Avatar f tn I am 25 years old and here are my physical issues that cause pain: cysts in my left ankle, previous knee injury/surgery, 'nerve' pain where my quadriceps tendon was removed, 3 herniated thoracic discs, 2 herniated lumbar discs, an 'undiagnosed' right lower quadrant abdominal pain that's been going on fot the past 4 years.
Avatar f tn I have had mild osteoarthritis in my right hand, of and on. Now I have knee pain, both knees, elbow pain, foot pain (orthotics (4 diff pairs) haven't helped). Not severe enough to take meds. Have been sleeping on a magnetic mat for 3 years. Doesn't seem to help. Have been going to osteopath, masseur, acupuncturist, nutritionist (treating inflammation). No real relief. Other issue (related?) is poor blood circulation (circulatory disorder). Not overweight (120lbs at 5'4.
Avatar f tn I had a lot of physical therapy and most of the exercises made the pain worse. I now get my best and longest relief from my chiropractor. (Yes he treats my knee) Do you have chiropractors in Italy if so, see if you can find one that can treat knees.
Avatar f tn it also gives out every now and then, and now i also am experiencing a shooting pain that feels cold and radiates partly down to my upper calf bone, and after the shooting pain is over, the knee feels very cold and achy. (this pain i am describing is occurring inside the knee, and not on the exterior. any ideas?
Avatar n tn A few months ago, I started to have back pain, in my lower spine, and horrible knee pain. I can still handle the back pain cause it stops after 30 minutes of training, and returnes after it (I don't care as long as I can play), but knee pain in my left knee is horrible. Yesterday I jumped and felt as like someone is stabbing me with a knife in my knee. I couldn't stand on my left leg for 10 minutes, and after that it still hurts a bit, but I can walk nicely today.
Avatar f tn Over the past 4 days I have been experiencing pain/Throbbing in my right knee. I do not recall doing any activities which may have damaged it in anyway. The pain feels like it comes from underneath my knee cap, slightly to the right. It throbbs when I am sat down, and if i move my knee left or right whilst my foot is on the floor I get a very sharp shooting pain which makes me jump.
Avatar f tn For me when I was in acute withdrawal and had the most pain, I did get relief from brisk walks.. the relief didnt last, but helped for a bit. It was basically - 30 minute walk; 30 minute hot shower. Hot towels on the legs. I would wet a towl and microwave it for a minute to make it hot and steamy. I also tried using ben gay all over my legs and actually vicks too and wrapped my legs in a hot towel. (what a sight I was!).. the only true thing that makes it better is time. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I had my right knee TKR in June 2010, I cannot recall what the pain was pre-op, but I do know that it is very bad and has been since surgery. I have fairly good function with the knee and am able to do the work I love (I would be very depressed to lose that) but work is the whole of my life as it HURTS during the work day and it takes the rest of my day to 'recover' somewhat. I have pain in the night quite often and pain upon waking.
604489 tn?1220023514 Has anyone who has suffered with arthritis experience pain in the center of the knee that radiates up the outside of the thigh? For the past week, I have had excruciating pain in these areas that is not well controlled with OTC stuff like Advil or Aleve. Thanks!
Avatar n tn Had a total knee replacement six months ago because of a torn ACL, torn meniscus and arthritic knee. The pain is now worse than before I had the replacement surgery. My knee is always swollen, stiff and hot to touch since surgery. I have taken Celebrex that helped the pain but had to stop because my kidney function BU/CU ratio is now elevated. I cannot take other NSAID's because they elevate my blood pressure. I have a history of chronic Lyme disease.
Avatar m tn Most of the time when I am walking around it feels like normal, however there are times that I feel excruiating pain in and around the knee. I have noticed most times it occurs is when i am bending deep with my knee I.e. getting into my car, going down stairs fast, bending down to pick something off the ground. However it does not always happen when I am doing these activities. When the pain starts the only way I have seen to relief the pain is to straighten out my leg.
