Hello.
About a week ago I got a little sick with a stuffed nose, sore throat, cough. I stayed home for 5 days, treated it and it got better. However, yesterday I went outside for the first time in 5 days and today I woke up with stuffed nose. And when I got up and moved myself, I felt that the right side of my neck was painful. When I don't move it, I can't feel the pain, but when I turn my head hurts a lot. What could cause this?

Sometimes I have noticable pain on one side of my body. Should someone touch me on the other side, that is when I usually will notice some achiness there too. With fibro everyone is different and the symptoms can vary day-to-day. I would say that what you mention would not be uncommon. I'm glad you've had the testing done so you don't have the worry of it possibly being something else.

I feel like its generally coming from the right side of my neck. If i tip my neck to the left, i can barely get my ear to my shoulder, it feels as if something is tight and pulling and quite sore, whereas if i tip my neck to the left i get my ear to my shoulder with ease although i get a quick pinching feeling in my neck. I still have full feeling, movement and strength in all limbs but it just feels numb. I am still totally 'with it' i have no other worrisome symptoms along with it.
There are 3 nerves (TRI-geminal) in the face that will cause different pain in different locations. Typically only effects one side of the face. Treatment is difficult. Pain med. Anti-inflammatory. Soft foods, rest. Also drugs such as Tegretol (gradually increase of dosage, gradual pain relief) Gapepentin and other drugs typically prescribed. See a Neurologist. Feel Better!
It started 4 days ago, a sudden moderate to severe pain in one particular spot on my head, left front side. No bruises, no redness, nothing. The pain feels like stabbing pain or as if someone was touching a bruise on my head and as if something was pressing down on my brain. If I touch the area or if I move my head suddenly or bend down, or just when walking it hurts for the moment and then goes away. No previous history of this pain.
Did you have an FNA recently, Tricia? The reason I ask is because two weeks after my FNA I had neck pain on the whole left side that felt like I had whiplash and I also had a cold/sore throat. The neck pain lasted about a week and the sore throat lasted maybe 3 days. No one else seemed to think it was related to the FNA, but I couldn't figure out anything else it could be.
When it was bad I would feel a bolt of pain shoot through my neck when I bent my head foward or to far to either side. It almost felt like a bad case of whiplash! Thankfully, this symptom has eased off and I hope is gone for good. I am not dx with MS yet, for now my neuro says my dx is ADEM. Hope this helps some!
About 6 months ago I started developing pain in the side of my neck. At first I thought it was a toothache because my lower back jaw and my ear hurt as well. I can barely touch the side of my neck and if feels like I have a sore throat when I swallow. This goes on for about a week and them the symptoms disappear. Then I will get the same pain back right around a month later. This has been going on for about 6 month now? What is causing this pain in my neck?
So I got neck pain, headaches, shoulder pain, leg pain, and tenderness. I just started back working (because of this economy, not because of my back pain), and I swear I am in the worst pain ever. I can not sit up straight, in the same spot, for too long. Even when I'm leaned against a pillow in bed or on the sofa, my back and neck aches. I stay in pain!!
I woke up this morning with what I guess I would call a sore throat, except it doesn't feel like the same kind oof sore throat I usually get with colds. It only hurts when I swallow and feels like its closer to the back of my mouth, possibly before the tonsils, than my throat. The pain is also only on the left side. From what I can tell I don't have any swelling in my neck or anything. This is yet another of odd mouth symptoms that I have had in the last few weeks.
I have been suffering from constant head/neck pain for over 10 years. The pain begins behind the ear, right side above the base of the skull. It radiates down the spine below the shoulder blades. I have had the following treatments: cervical spine fusion c5/c6 due to rupture disk, botox injections to the head, neurostimulater implant 4 yrs then removed, steroid injections, and taken huge quantities of narcotic pain relievers.
Also, my headache transforms from one side to other side. For example, if i get headache on my right side and if i have analgesic it will be cured in right side. But i will get headache on my left side by same day or next day. I took my MRI report for second opinion to a neurologist. He said my pulse rating is high and he suggested me to go to GYM, Last 3 months i am going to GYM. But there is no much improvement. Also, I have checked my eyes and Eyes are OK.
I'm recently dx, April 2011. I've suffered on and off in the passed with neck pain, it hurts just to hold my head up. Does anyone else suffer from this? Is this even a symptom of ms? I feel like things I ignored in the past may have been symptoms that I didn't realize.
and also neck pain. she turn bending one side her neck. and also felldown suddenly. that was continued.we are chock. and immediately going to hospital. doctor said she was suffering from fever.and take 3 injuction.[ i am not the medicine clearly ]. now my dog was not fever. but that she condinued in bending her neck and also feldown for every 10 sec. doctor came my house and also put on 3 injuctions. now my dog was not back bending her head. and feld down every 1 hrs to 2 hrs.
Sometimes pain shoots up towards my head and sometimes it shoots down to my neck, especially when I try to look up. The pain gives me limited mobility of my neck because of a pull I feel there. About two months ago my neck started hurting horribly, I went to the doctor and he said it was torticolis from sleeping in a bad position for years (on my side with my face not touching the pillow) and was prescribed Medrol, Flexeril, and Naproxen and given steroid shots.

I am not sure I understand what you mean when you say the dogs neck is bending to one side? Do you mean that the dogs head is tilted towards the left, and her neck is bent causing the head to tilt...?
If so, your 13 year old dog could have a condition known as vestibular disease. This disease will typically affect older dogs, and makes it difficult for the dog to walk.
I also have severe pain in my neck when I turn it to the side or up and down.I was assured that by now I would be pretty much pain free but here I am asking why I'm not!! I had an appointment in May and June,and in the doctors notes he stated if I didn't improve then he wanted to do an MRI and CT scan with contrast and a nerve velocity test.I would really appreciate another opinion of what is going on with me.I was injured on the job and haven't received the best medical treatment.
Thank you for your advise. I had a injection yesterday between C8 &T1. It went ok. Had a problem as soon as I was getting up, saw starburst everywhere. They had a very hard time getting any blood pressure, even thou I was talking to them the whole time. It took 45 minutes to get my blood pressure up to 103 over 73. I noticed last night around 5:30 I got a head ache (injection was at 2:30). Still have it, waiting on the nurse to call me back.
I have a small lump maybe the sizeof a dime in tbe back of my neck on the left side under my ear. I also have this pulsing pain on the same side of my neck about every minute. don't know what to do .
