Common Questions and Answers about Pain management pumps

1535353 tn?1292709086 I know many people who have had great relief from pain pumps! I am surprised that your dr isn't willing to try and other options. Tramadol isn't very strong and many people including myself do not find it very effective. If your dr isn't giving options I'd find a new dr going from tramadol to a pain pump is a huge leap and there are so many other options.
725248 tn?1316162245 Anyone have any feedback on pain pumps? It looks like this might be my last alternative, I have had epidurals, RF Albalations, PT, Tense units. For a while my Pain doctor had my oxycontin and norco, but took me off the oxycontin and left me on the norco even though I have told him the norco ( 8- 10/325mg a day) is not working any more.
Avatar f tn I was looking for some input on Cervical pain and Pain pumps. I have a cervical fusion at C4-C5 and C5-C6 and the fusion did not take at C6-C7. I have Arthritis in the neck along with degenerative disc disease. The spinal spaces are all narrowed and there is a herniation at C6-C7. I have had steroidal injections, medial branch blocks and have had nerve burning procedures on both sides of my neck. Everything has made the pain worse especially the nerve burning.
1535353 tn?1292709086 Hi Skittles, Welcome to MedHelp's Pain Management Forum. I am so sorry to hear about your chronic pain. You are so young to have to live with pain for the rest of your life. We can relate! The journey through chronic pain is filled with multiple challenges. It's not an easy one but none of us get to chose the cards that life deals us. You sound brave and you'll make it. First of all, in my opinion you should seek a second opinion.
Avatar n tn t do much as far as alternative pain management options. I would research other options and avoid the pain management clinics (if you can).
Avatar f tn I will again repeat my earlier suggestion that you seek help from a specialized pain clinic. Pain management has made tremendous progress in the last decade or so, and most pain can now be substantially controlled. All the best, and be strong! God Bless!
Avatar f tn Hi there. This could be CRPS or regional pain syndrome. There is usually no cure for it. Pain can be attempted to be relieved with psychotherapy, physical therapy and drugs like topical analgesics, narcotics, corticosteroids, antidepressants and anti seizure drugs. Other modalities are sympathetic nerve blocks, surgical sympathetectomy, intrathecal drug pumps and spinal cord stimulation. Discuss this possible diagnosis and management modalities with your neurologist. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar n tn I have been to the doctors twice last week and I have another appointment on Monday to talk about getting a pump...I have been offered 2 pumps the Animas 2020 or the Paradigm with real-time glucose checks...I was skeptical about the pump but as I read on this forum and others they seem to only have good comments. Has anyone used either of the pumps I can choose from?
Avatar n tn So the pain docs would use the same scar to place Spinal Cord Stimulators (3) and Intrathecal Pumps (2) and a hernia developed, and I wonder if this is also part of my pain. Thanks for any ideas or help, especially a nice way to talk to my Pain Management doc because I have a bad habit of just saying it like it is.
Avatar f tn Why, if I have a valid release from contract from my former pain management doctor who put in my pain pumps, 1st in 2001 and 2nd in 2008, then shut the pump off when I was having significant morphine toxcicity problems without doing a complete review of my history and current status. I was concerned for my safety and want to have another doctor manage my care.
1318483 tn?1318347182 He wanted to get some blood and agreed with me when I told him I thought it was time for pain management. I went to my first appointment for pain management and feel very comfortable with him and look forward to him helping with my pain. He scheduled me for a nerve test on my right arm (I have only had them done on my legs) and started me on Tramadol, 50 mg every 6 hours. Now back to Saturday (for those of you still with me!!).
Avatar n tn I am getting very close to my wit's end in my pain management issues. I will attempt to list everything I've tried and then ask some questions that I hope someone that has the same issue(s) will be able to answer. I do understand that because this is a medical related issue, any responses will be regarded as such and I will see a doctor regarding any suggestions that may be presented to me. I will start with some background and then present what the issue(s) are.
Avatar f tn Do everything Jerry said. He did give you great advice and I think if you do these things everything is going to be alright. Yes, they do put all prescriptions on one or two pages now. It's not like it used to be where you would get one for every single script. Your regular pharmacist was not the one who filled them. And why in the world do these DRs think any of us would ever sell our medications?!!!

Avatar f tn After reading about pain management during labor I have decided to not have any medication unless it is absolutely necessary. However, I am still back and forth about an epidural. What is everyone's opinions or experiences with it? Trying to weigh the pros and cons.
Avatar f tn I have an infertility doctor who I know is wonderful with fertility drugs and IVF, but the pain management has been poor. Vicodin helps a lot, however, I cannot find anyone to prescribe it for me on a regular basis because it is addictive. I take a half of Vicodin 2 times a day. I dont think thats a problem, and it gives me a better quality life. What is Ponstel?
Avatar f tn Today the pain is bringing me to tears and I was just hoping that I could get some ideas on other options of pain management? I need some help and the doctors around here have been pretty stumped on what I should do. Any suggestions would help!

539841 tn?1235394722 The subject? Pain management. I am not going to be melodramatic, just honest- I have nothing to gain to be anything other than this. I am dying. We all are, right? Well maybe mine is just coming a little faster than others. This is the thing. My son is young still at 11. I want to enjoy him and my wife as much as I can. To do this it requires pain killers of the HEAVY variety.
