Common Questions and Answers about Pacemaker technician

pacemaker

Avatar n tn We had testing done in November 2021 so we could be prepared in advance for a replacement when the time came in 2022. The technician did some tests and insisted his pacemaker had maybe 12 - 18 months left before it needed replacement. We protested the findings so they scheduled a 6 month appt for June 2022. At that time, a 2nd technician said the pacemaker had pretty much been working at its lowest capacity since Feb.
Avatar f tn Do you have a pacemaker? The best is to check with your doctor or pacemaker technician. I don't know what can it cause the heart functioning abnormality if you have the inverted T waves? Anyone knows? It also depends if you're a pacemaker dependent or not. I'm not a pacemaker depend. I go well with the equipment which marks "Pacemaker user caution". If I found my heart beats abnormally, then I stop using it and try again after the heart settle.
Avatar n tn ll have to wait a pacemaker expert/technician for the answer, but (not knowing what a generator is, a sub-part of the embedded pacemaker device?) it seems to me you should ask this question of whoever installed the new generator. For those of us learning from reading these posts, you may want to explain "hiccoughing" - did you mean "hiccuping"? Either way, I don't know what it may mean, other pacemaker patients. My response should not deter their inputs.
Avatar f tn s own pacemaker does not work. Would I be out of line to ask them for a pacemaker replacement instead of just having more checks?
723800 tn?1230887234 Hi, I had my first pacemaker when I was 19 due to being born with a congential heart block, so I was given dual wire pacemaker, everything seemed to be working well as far my cardiologist was concerned when they discovered that 1 of the wires was'nt working properly, although I was not having any side affects to this but because of the size of the pacemaker to which they inserted I did recieve quite a few episodes of chest pains.
Avatar n tn The frequency of the machine ranges from 2.9Hz to 50Hz....will this be harmful to the pacemaker if it is being used on her feet? I am hoping that she will be able to use this for her neuropathy and solve her pain that she has been experiencing.
Avatar n tn In August this year I had a pacemaker implanted (3 lead MEDTRONIC C2TRO1) The rate was set at 90 and although relieved that I would not go out of sinus I did not feel well, suffering insomnia, short of breath with almost any sort of exercise. I went last week for my 6 weeks check up and the rate was set at 75. This has improved my awareness of the heart beating but I do not sleep much better, am very tired and a small flight of stairs means that I an beating around 87. Can the rate be lowered?
Avatar f tn hi every1, hope ur all doing gr8. i need both a pace & defib or an ICD due 2 sick sinus syndrome, mvp, 3 valves regurgitating & no right circumflex artery. ive finally had a pacemaker installed & the dr refused the defib/icd. since the pacemaker im having a-fib, v-tach & flutters. alot of my old symptoms are worse plus im getting new 1s!
Avatar m tn I think that my pacemaker may have moved position, it doesn't feel the same as it always has, I mean to the touch. We all are very familiar with how or pacemakers feel to the touch, "I hope I'm explaining this right" but my pacemaker feels as if it has spun or turn on it's side and I am scared craze. Will it unplug or come loose?
Avatar f tn Many units can be interrogated by a doctor or technician to see events that occurred, battery life, etc. Is your pacemaker a demand unit, that fills in for a slow beat by your heart's natural pacemaker, or are you dependent on it for heart function? Regardless, notifying him/her would be best.
Avatar n tn This has got worse since my pacing technician adjusted the Rate Response, Activity Threshold from Medium Low to Low. She adjusted the setting because I complained that I need a bit more "go" when exerting myself or walking up hill. My heart rate now seems to jump from about 60 to 100 with no additional effort, just vibration, and I feel pretty awful as a result. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Could someone explain why this is happening? Thank you.
Avatar n tn #R-Rs >2sec simply means pause/distance (more than 2 seconds) between R to R(9 times during the hole monitoring) that significant for the report but can be in normal patient during sleep and associated with bradicardia . Pause >4sec. make patient unconsciousness. One R more simply means one heart beat. About ST-changes, I think you have depression(1.275mm) which is means ischemia but depression can be due to some drugs. There is NO myocardial infarction present(0.2mm).
Avatar m tn While hospitalized an arrhytmia was diagnosed and a pacemaker implanted3 days ago. The electrophysiologist, cardiologist and pacemaker technician said that the pacemaker was working well, until today when they informed us that they the lower lead was displaced. So now they are considering repositioning the lead. The cardiologist said that this can wait a few weeks but recommended doing it now while my father is still hospitalized .
Avatar m tn I would suggest you determine both the make and model number of your previous and present pacemaker. The next step would be to call the present pacemaker manufacturer and ask for a comparison of features. If they have the same features, then in all probability the present one isn't programmed correctly, or possibly your heart function has changed. That being said, the fact that your increased fatigue approximated the time of your bypass suggests a need for a stress test.
506791 tn?1439842983 We had an internet outage earlier today. The over the phone technician tried a remote re-boot, which did not work. Both TV and telephone worked fine (get all 3 from Metrocast). They sent a technician to the house to check things out and Miss Teia, except for a couple minutes when he 1st got here and she skedaddled under the couch with the boys (who stayed hidden), stayed out and even walked close enough to sniff his boot.
Avatar f tn I HAVE A PACEMAKER SINCE ABOUT JUNE OF 1998 OR 1999. I HAVE HAD SOME PROBLEMS OFF AND ON OVER THE YEARS EVEN SINCE I HAD IT PUT IN WITH FATIQUE AND SHORTNESS OF BREATH. LAST AUGUST I HAD A PACEMAKER CHECK AND MY CARDIOLOGIST HAD SOMEONE CALL AND TELL ME TO COME DOWN TO HAVE IT CHECKED AT THE OFFICE. APPARENTLY SOMETHING SHOWED IN THE PHONE CHECK THAT WAS NOT QUITE RIGHT. I WENT AND THE TECHNICIAN FROM ST JUDE'S ADJUSTED IT.
Avatar m tn Stress echo: during static test the technician said my heart looked better than it did 2 years ago. During the treadmill looked good but heart started acting up when I got back on the table. Bilateral Lower Extremity Arterial Duplex: distal abdominal aortic aneurysm 6cm x 3.5 cm AP. ABI's right 0.9 left 1.2. Moderate plaque in aorta. Apparently nothing serious per family GP.
Avatar f tn Hi there I had a stress test today on a treadmill, for severe shortness of breath, tight chestedness and nausea while exercising. I also have complete heart block, with a resting rate somewhere around 50bpm. While i was walking on the machine I was able to see the pulse ox machine but not the main computer screen. The tech said to tell him when I was tight chested or had any symptoms, and so after about 30 seconds of walking I said I had.
Avatar n tn (36) I did some research and it does not seem like there is a treatment for this, so I am very scared that I will have to live with all the symptoms. He said it was progressive and would get worse and that I could get a pacemaker but that is really all they can do. I had a heart infection (myocarditus) about ten years ago and he thinks that maybe that did some damage that is just not showing up. Is that possible?
Avatar m tn I did an oxemitry test and was walking very fast, I started to feel dizzy and needed to stop and catch my breath. The technician said that my heart rate jumped to over 150 at that time but my oxygen stayed in the 90's. She said that my shortness of breath was heart related and to call my cardiologist. My blood pressure normally runs low, about 103 over 60.
Avatar f tn I also have breathlessness anytime I walk for more than 20 feet at a time. The pacemaker technician told me that will probably improve as my heart heals. I also have cut out caffeine but not the other items. So that's what I'll try. I expect losing some weight would also improve my breathing as there would be less of me to fill with oxygen. thanks again for the encouragement.
675084 tn?1233087505 good you ask me.. my pacemaker is set to 80beats and I'm 100% depend on my pacemaker.. i have a Medtronic this my 2nd. pacemaker... my first Medtronic pacemaker i had it for 18 yrs. until the doctor turn it down than it didn't work good.. had to get a new one.. in Dec. it will be 2yrs. i had my pacemaker check last week and i find out the doctor that put my pacemaker in didn't set my pacemaker for life depend.. Good news is now my pacemaker is set for it not to be ever turn off..
Avatar f tn The pacemaker itself should not be a deterent from having an ablation. I've had a pacemaker for 6 years (because of an ablation actually), and then had another ablation about a year ago. Unfortunately, the ablations don't work for me, but I have IST, not SVT so hopefully they're more effective for that.
