pacemaker

512694 tn?1216161406 I'm sorry to here about everyones big cyst. Mines tiny compared to everyones on here. But mines not on my ovary. I guess they said it's from getting my tubes tied. But it does cause some discomfort. I don't know why it's not that big. She is putting me on 10 days of doxycycline and if it doesn't get better we are going to talk about surgery. I don't know if they will do the it the easy way considering I have a gastric pacemaker that may get into the way.
Avatar m tn I recently had a pacemaker installed due to heart block. Prior to the surgery I experienced no symptoms. No fatigue or lightheadedness, in fact I didn't even know there was a problem until the EKG. Since the surgery, I am so fatigued and have a pins and needles feeling in my head and neck. Last week I was told that the top portion of the pacemaker was not working, but that I didn't need it.
Avatar f tn After what you have been through who cares about modesty. The surgeons have dealt with naked bodies all through their training and could care less. I had foley put in so that I wouldn't pee which was what my doctor wanted and I had nio idea. General anesthesia usually does require incubation with a tube. No big deal. You might have a little sore throat for a day or two. Have you gotten your reselts on your lymph node status? Good luck.
Avatar m tn What if someone who has had an ectopic pregnancy that was removed via surgery (tube completely taken out) became pregnant only after one normal period?
Avatar m tn s sort of a last ditch conservation mode until the battery can be replaced. What happens then is the pacemaker will fire to a preset pulse rate. It will no longer take into account what the user's heart is doing. The is reported by some to be a very uncomfortable, miserable feeling. However, if your mother is pretty sedentary, she may not notice it as much as someone who is ambulatory.
Avatar n tn i had 3 open heart surgery and on my 2nd. pacemaker.. my first pacemaker last me for 18yrs. and just got my 2nd. pacemaker Dec.2006.. my pacemaker was implanted in my upper chest on the right side.. only thing i hate the surgery doctor told me he would use the same cut as the other pacemaker but when i woke up he cut me in another spot.. well i can say.. ask your doctor his he using the same cut as the first pacemaker was in..
351404 tn?1299489130 I would really question your doctor and try to find another medication that doesn't drop your HR like Bisoprolol does. I can't see the benefit of putting in a PM because of a decreased HR from a med - the benefit doesn't outweigh the risk, what happens then if your HR goes to 140?do they take it out with yet another surgery?
Avatar n tn One of the common complications that we see in these patients is sinus node dysfunction, or abnormal function of the natural pacemaker of the heart. This is due to the large amount of surgery and scar tissue near the sinus node, which can certainly occur with an intracardiac version of the Fontan. Therefore, it is not uncommon to see heart rates this low in patients after a Fontan. At this point, the most important fact is that she is asymptomatic.
Avatar f tn I had a pacemaker put in November 2010. It was the most horrifying experience I have ever gone through as the lidocaine had absolutely no effect and versed does not work on me so I had full feeling of surgery from the initial incision to the creation of the pocket into my muscle and placement of the pacemaker. My heart rate and blood pressure had been dropping to critical levels. A BP of 60/40 at night and a heart rate in the low to mid thirties was commonplace.
1600503 tn?1305349464 When she had her ICD implanted she had complications and the pacemaker mark of the implant could not be connected. What are the chances of me have the same complication. She ended up being in the hospital for 3 days and then rehab for a week.
Avatar f tn s been in ICU for 4 days now, off of O2 now and they are keeping him stable with meds. What are his options? pacemaker? I know hes not a canidate for a heart transplant. I feel that the medical team his done a poor job explaining everything to the family and I don't know what kind of questions to ask. Any help or tips would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn I just found out thaqt I am now considered pace maker dependent and that I need my pace maker replaces sometime soon. What happens during surgery? Does my heart stop or at risk or stopping when the doctor is transitioning from my old pace maker to my new one. i am 70 years old and scared of the relacement process.
Avatar n tn But the pacemaker might allow him to survive the surgery.....however implanting the pacemaker is a risk in itself! Quite a lot of older dogs go through surgery ok. But it depends on what surgery, and it depends on their overall condition for their age. I they are generally well, the risks are greatly lessened. It sounds as if he is in quite bad shape. In my opinion, the worst-case scenario would be that he didn't survive the surgery.
Avatar m tn on jan 3rd 2008 i had surgery for retina detachment, followed by cataract surgery on may 18th on the same eye,i have now been told i have to have "refraction" what is that, and would you expect vision to improve.
Avatar n tn t have her surgery and she is supposed to see a different surgeon who can do something. But what, we have yet to been told. I can't find anything online about this type of problem and I was wondering if anyone else had had this happen to them or if they knew anyone who had been through this.
Avatar n tn That treatment may include a Pacemaker (PM). How invasive is this surgery? Is it as bad as and Open Heart ByPass? I need information. Can anyone help us?
Avatar f tn I had a pacemaker put in in mid-June (2009). It's on the left side. My left arm is swollen, tight and sore and really has been for the last 7 or 8 weeks. A dopler test revealed no blood clots. My electrophysiologist said sometimes (but not usually) it takes the other smaller veins a while to get the blood rerouted. He said since the test showed no blood clots, he's not particularly worried.
1411632 tn?1281642993 I was referred to a cardiologist who recommended a pacemaker. What are the odds that in that 24 hour halter test there are 4 pauses but now my pacemaker has not recorded any in an 8 month period? I also did not have tachycardia until after the pacemaker implantation. Can the pacemaker have triggered this since it is a "foreign" object in the heart?
Avatar f tn You said it takes longer to heal. What should I expect after surgery? My surgery had to be changed, it won't be Monday but definitely this coming week.
Avatar m tn Hi Doctor, My bro aged 21 recently jus joined army force as regular, physical fit in average, not really stressful workout in camp as he's a military police. During 1 week ago, he went for full medical check up in camp & founded out by MO his HR is only 36/min. Immediately warded to hospital. 24hour EKG, worst result during resting was 26/min.
Avatar f tn She has had arrhytmias the past several months so she has an appt next week to see her doc. What causes arrhytmias even when you have a pacemaker. Is this normal? Pacemakers are supposed to treat this, right?
Avatar m tn Yes, a pacemaker can cause heart failure. It happens due to a desynchronization or the left and right ventricle due to continuous pacing. From what I have read it. I have a congenital av block and it happens in 1 in 8 pacemker implementations with this condition. Biventricle pacing is the recommended solution along with lifestyle changes. Hopefully all is well with you and your husband now that it is a few years down the road. My own biv pacemaker goes in next month. Cheers.
Avatar f tn My 1st clear memory is ICU 3 days later with a doctor saying sign a consent for a pacemaker or I could die. Obviously, I signed. A week later, I had emergency surgery for a dropped heart lead. I now have chronic shortness of breath, chest pain and can't even laugh without gasping. I truly think I don't need this thing in my chest. Is there an agreed procedure for proving it (like turning the damned thing off)? There is NO cardiac history in either my or my family's history. Thanks.
