Common Questions and Answers about Pacemaker surgery sling

pacemaker

Avatar f tn 5 hours and I stayed over night in the hospital. After the surgery, I was placed in a arm sling so that I was not attempted to raise my left arm above my head. I was in the sling for a week. I was told not to raise my arm above my shoulder level for another week. I could do mild exercise such as walking as soon as I was released from the hospital and was back to normal exercise in a month. I was a principal of a middle school at the time and was able to go back to work in 10 days.
1331422 tn?1326566597 I got a pacemaker/defibrillator implanted the end of June. The surgery is only a couple of hours and they kept me overnight. I was a little sore but nothing like other surgeries I've had. I recovered extremely quickly. They say not to raise your arm for the first week, no lifting, pushing or pulling for 6 weeks, no jogging or cardio workout for 4-5 weeks. Pretty much the same restrictions as with any surgery except you have to be really careful not to pull the leads out of your heart.
Avatar f tn i had a dual chamber boston scientific pacemaker put in a week. ago. my 2nd. one since aug. of this year. i got staph infection in the first one. i had my one week check up yesterday and it looks as though one of the leads has moved. they did an x ray which shows the same as the x ray taken at the hospital the day after the pacemaker was put in. but i go back in 2 weeks to do the test again as they say the ex ray does not pick up micro changes. my question is. is this normal? and my dr.
Avatar m tn I had a pacemaker implanted two weeks ago. I am perhaps being overly cautious, but how easily are the leads dislodged? I have been careful to keep my left arm from rising above shoulder level, and sleep with a sling in place. I am left handed and it is a chore, but I understand that I am to keep it below shoulder level for a month. Is there a warning system in palce that will tell me if a lead becomes dislodged?
Avatar n tn about 2 years ago i had a bladder sling surgery performed, since the surgery I cannot have sex without severe pain, as a result sex is almost nill and my marriage is on the bring or falling apart, Help.
Avatar m tn He has already gone over the risks high chance of ending up with a pacemaker. I will have to stay in the hospital over night to have my heart continuously monitored. I wanted to hear some other stories from people who have had this procedure, how long was the hospital stay? when did you go back to work? any complications?
Avatar f tn I had the sling surgery 9 days ago and have had pain when sitting and very bad bruising around the vaginal area and rectum area. I thought it would be much less painful than it is and I am active as well. I went back to work 3 days later but have had to wear skirts or dresses as shorts/pants are painful. Is that normal?
Avatar n tn I am scheduled to have sling surgery in Aug 2009 and have several questions... I am worried about getting back on my feet, sexual relations and if this will truly help my situation. I only have leaking when I run hard, exercise, sneeze, cough stuff like that...but being the person I am I love doing these things so this leaking quite depressing. I have read some horror stories.
Avatar n tn I had sling surgery two years ago...about 6 mos. afterwards the discomfort of pain in the lower pelvic area started. I have been treated premarin and estrace...both caused burning and did not help. I tried a lubricant and was using it daily and it gave me some relief each day a few hours after I used it. Then that didn't work either. About three months ago, after thinking I was getting the flu, I developed a major UTI and wound up in the emergency room.
Avatar m tn I am planning to get a Frontalis Sling surgery, but my surgeon mentioned that there will be lagophthalmos and eyelid lag in downward gaze. Is this only a risk or will it definitely happen after surgery? Please tell me! Thanks in advance!
Avatar n tn Doctors tell us heart arrythmia may be cause - EKG confirms that her heart slows/stops. Pacemaker is recommended. Our issue is that she is very frail and weakened - unable to support herself or walk even with walker. She states "I am ready to go." Will pacemaker help her do better in rehab and maybe go back to her ACLF (independent apartment) or at least assisted living? Is she likley to regain function lost due to recent fall?
Avatar f tn I recently had a pacemaker implanted and I'm concerned whether it is safe or not to continue using our Ionic Pro ionic air purifier in the same room?
Avatar n tn I had the Monarc bladder sling surgery a month ago. I am voiding fine, and don't appear to have the stress incontinence anymore; however, I am in constant discomfort since my stitches are still protruding from my vagina. My surgeon says that I have had erosion through the vaginal wall, which is apparently one of the possible complications.
Avatar f tn If I understand you correctly, these symptoms started after the surgery to cut one side of the sling. If all that was done was cutting the sling, this would be an unusual complication. Should your symptoms be significantly bothersome, I would agree with the removal of the sling to see if this helps. I is important that your doctor have experience in removing slings in that removal may be more difficult than just cutting one side.
Avatar m tn I was not aware ofclass action on bladder slings. I had surgery late Dec. 10' the Dr. said it was a Lavendar sling made from pork. If this lawsuit is for the newer slings I would like to know more about it.
Avatar n tn Can someone please help me.....I'm 35 and had the sling surgery a year ago. A week after the surgery my lower abdomen was deformed , but no one was able to tell me the reason. Now, it happens every few months, painful and horrible. Trying to figure out if it has something to do with the surgery and what is it...
Avatar f tn I am 34 years old I had bladder sling surgery two weeks ago and it seems like I am leaking even more urine then before I had the surgery has anyone else dealt with this and what did the Dr do? I did have a fall about a week after the surgery could that have cause the sling to move out of place? I have a post op appt in 4 days.
Avatar m tn what is the newest type of bladder suspension tx? This discussion is related to What is the best bladder suspension surgery?.
Avatar n tn Going in for surgery Nov17'08. The total hysterectomy, hernia and sling will be performed. I am very nervous after reviewing this site and the "horror" stories told. I have fibroids pressing against the badder, which is now, poorly distended, a overly large uterus ,as well as a hernia. I have a calcified kidney stone"which is being "guarded".
Avatar f tn Not as fair as Im aware. So does that mean surgery didnt work? With the sling would it be another decompression surgery?
Avatar f tn I had the sling and hyterectomy also. I have overactive bladder also. I am having problems with the sling. Pain and I really feel like I want to rip it out somedays. Depending on the chair and how long I sit. My urethea area falls asleep. Tingling sensations that last for several minutes and spasms. The sling may be to tight. I don't want to go through surgery again. The Dr wanted to loosen it up. I don't think that is the answer.
Avatar n tn Hello, I like the member would wonder why your doctor did not repair they cystocele and rectocele at the time of the sling. That said, I would suggest you get your SECOND surgery whenever you wish. There really is no time frame give you only had a sling done. As far as doing it Robotically vs Vaginally, both are acceptable methods of repair. I tend to do everything vaginally, while others like to uses the robot.
Avatar n tn i had 3 open heart surgery and on my 2nd. pacemaker.. my first pacemaker last me for 18yrs. and just got my 2nd. pacemaker Dec.2006.. my pacemaker was implanted in my upper chest on the right side.. only thing i hate the surgery doctor told me he would use the same cut as the other pacemaker but when i woke up he cut me in another spot.. well i can say.. ask your doctor his he using the same cut as the first pacemaker was in..
Avatar m tn I had the same experience with my English Mastiff (although it was knee surgery and not back surgery). We had to keep her tied to the end of our bed-post to limit her range of motion. All she could do was sit up and lay back down. And this was for 8 weeks, mind you. Not fun for us to watch her go through. Not fun for our other 5 dogs not having their pack-leader (Alpha) around. Not fun for her to have to go through it.
Avatar f tn Thanks Sherrie, saw Dr yesterday and he feels that the pain was probably from a pulling of scar tissue from being overactive and he feels that the sling is okay but the surgery has not quite been successful and he anticipated. His next suggestion is to insert an Interstim Device for better control. I am a little concerned about this but since I am about to fly to America for holidays, I do not want to be concerned that urgency issues will be a problem.
Avatar n tn I had a bladder sling and ablation surgery 2 years ago. I started leaking shortly after surgery. Went back to the gyn and he noticed some tissue problem. Repaired it and I stopped leaking for a couple of days. I started up again and he said everything is fine. It has been 2 years and I am still leaking fluid. I have been to another gyn who did surgery to correct the tissue problem and noticed some of the sling was protruding. I stopped leaking for a few days and then started up again.
Avatar f tn I had surgery to address incontinence. A monarch sling was installed. Within 10 days I urinated without warning or control twice. My surgeon said I still had a lot of fluid in my bladder after I thought I had voided completely so he did an adjustment in the office. I have since urinated 3 times with no warning or control. My surgeon says the sling is too tight and wants to go in and cut the sling. He tells me I am in the 1% of women for whom the sling fails.
