Common Questions and Answers about Pacemaker questions answers

pacemaker

Avatar f tn s own pacemaker does not work. Would I be out of line to ask them for a pacemaker replacement instead of just having more checks?
Avatar n tn I had slow heartbeat and when I was eight and in 1994 they implanted a permanent minuet pacemaker. I have the same pacemaker today (I'm currently 21 and about to be 22, female). I had to change from a children's doctor to another medical center because of my age. So, where I am now is relatively new. My old physician told me that my heart was slightly enlarged. Recently, they found a blood clot on one of my leads in my right atrium and have put me on Coumadin.
Avatar m tn Hi, I ran into your post while researching for tricuspid regurgitation cause by pacemaker lead/s. I'm wondering how you've been since then and if you've found answers to your questions. I am on my fourth double chamber pacemaker and when they took out my old leads and put the new ones, my tricuspid valve got damaged in the process and now it's leaking. That was 3 years ago and I had a mild TR. Now, it got worse and it's moderate TR now.
Avatar n tn Sorry you are going through this. Some of your questions can only be answered by your doctor. I hope you get some answers soon.
Avatar m tn I have been told a couple different answers for my questions, and wanted to know if I can lift weights and work out normal. I also wanted to know if there has been foundings against going in a tanning bed with a pacemaker and blood thinners?
754751 tn?1241304207 you can also read patient information over at some of the companies that maufacture the pacemakers themselves sites like biotronik , medtronic , st jude medical etc their patient information pages are very readable the one who decides if you get a pacemaker is your cardiologist after many tests and evaluation and sometimes your heart surgeon that is if you had one he can also say you need a pacemaker , is many people have pacemakers and/or ICD for various medical heart conditions
Avatar n tn My husband has sick sinus syndrome. He went from healthy to flat and no energy at all. He received a pacemaker to help with the pacing and had ablation for atrialflutter and takes a beta blocker to help with the pvc's etc. We still have questions as to why etc, with no answers, hes had millions of tests.
Avatar f tn I now have a permanent pacemaker that works 78% of the time because my heart dosnt. They have no idea why still I was in 3rd degree heart block. Any sugestions? Any sugestions on dr. In Boston area? Any advice? Any test I should see about having done?
Avatar m tn I'm not a doctor... just an afib patient who has done a lot of reading. I'll try to answer your questions but you should also get answers directly from your cardiologist (or a second opinion from another doctor). 1) Your wife's cardiologist has proposed a reasonable treatment approach. You haven't mentioned wheteher your wife is in persistent afib or sporadic.
Avatar m tn I'm a 54 yo female who needed a pacemaker 10 years ago due to idiopathic 3rd degree heart block, I take no medications for my heart. My battery (now 10 years old) needs replacing. I've had 4 episodes of 5 second or less V-tach (according to the pacemakers computer) in the last 18 months and the doctors are wanting to do an Electrophysiology study to see if they can find out why I've had these episodes, since the echo and nuclear stress test preformed last week, were all normal.
Avatar n tn Immediately prior to the pacemaker implant, the heart rate drops were occurring several times per week. Getting my pacemaker properly adjusted was very difficult and I changed Cardio EPs three times, involving very much of trial and error on their part. I've read that 2nd degree, type 2 can eventually become 3rd degree and a complete heart block. Complete heart block can cause sudden cardiac death. That is why I agreed to the pacemaker implant.
Avatar f tn I'd ask him why not just put in the pacemaker and skip the rest. I just put a question on the forum myself about something similar. I have no problem with getting a pacemaker. I really can't see messing with ablation which may or may not work when I know a pacemaker will work and stop messing around with tests. Maybe pacemakers are as good as I think they are, but my mother lived a very long life because of one. She sure felt better too.
579123 tn?1217791074 We spoke with the Drs office today, and they have taken him OFF his COZAAR and COREG XR (coreg for only 2 days)....but with his ejection fraction of 15 is coming off the Coreg not going to hurt more then it helps? Anyone,,have any replys?
Avatar n tn In the past I have had SVT- 3 Cardiac Ablations, Then I had abrupt Bradycardia so I rcvd a pacemaker, Latley I keep feeling like I am going to collapse. Pacemaker interrogation showed 135 heart rate drops and 7 high rate VT. I am going to the DR this week and I am just worried. Family history is horrible!
Avatar m tn I had pacemaker implanted. 4 days later I had mild throbbing pain in chest and throat, this went away after 24 hours. About a month later pain came back and has continued for last 8 days. Pain increased today; I feel it in my chest throat, neck, jaw and back. Had echocardiogram and it was normal. Recently had stress/nuc (before pacemaker) and it was ok. Cardiologist office thinks it is not damgerous. Also pacemaker was adjusted to lower voltage and seemed to have no effect.
Avatar f tn As AP has said you do need to take a list of these questions with you to the Dr and don't leave till you get the answers. You need to ask if you are going to need any extra checks during the pregnancy or if there is anything you need to do differently. It may be worth getting in touch with your cardiologist and the person who monitors your epilepsy so that they can be kept in the loop. They will also be able to help you with your questions.
Avatar f tn s my first time posting here but looking for any advice, I recently had a pacemaker implanted due to sick sinus syndrome My pacemaker was first implanted and removed due to infection and placed in the opposite side since then the side my pacemaker was on hasn't been right sore,.
Avatar f tn My husband had a pacemaker placed three months ago. It was discovered that he had two holes in the septum of his heart and they had been there since conception. We have a passion for biking, kayaking, dancing love to active. Then this...He has had open heart to close the holes and several procedures after due to racing of the heart rate..Nothing worked so in went the pacemaker...
Avatar n tn The reason is, is because the main eletrical signal never took over and was beating so slowly that a pacemaker would have been needed to continue. My husband decided to not be the one to OK the pacemaker, but to leave it up to me. The doctor then aborted the proceedure. Since then my doctor continues to ask if I want to continue on with it and go agead and get the pacemaker or not. I have asked him if he were in my shoes, would he go ahead and do it.
Avatar m tn If your EF is 40% then I certainly wouldn't go for weight training. This type of exercise is anaerobic and over works the heart in quick short bursts, the type of exercise which can certainly bring about arrhythmia. A better form of exercise is Aerobic which is heart/circulatory system aligned. With an EF of 40% you don't want to overdo exercise either. If you work your heart too hard then you could initiate enlargement of the chambers, making it even weaker over time.
Avatar f tn Recently, I Have Been Passing Out Many Times. Honestly, It's Like Every Minuite And A Half. My Parents Took Me To Hospital And They Have Done A 24 Hour Trace Of My Heart. The Result... I Need A Pacemaker. The Only Issue With This Is The Fact That I Don't Know What One Is. I'm 15 And Really Don't Understand This Whole Process. My Mum Is Sick With Worry And I Cannot Find A Way To Calm Her Down.

584742 tn?1219148217 My son has been a diabetic for the past 20 years- type 1. He is now 46 & has gastroparesis. He goes through sever stomach pains, then vomit, then retch then blood. He doesn't get very much sleep anymore but he feels that when he does sleep for quite a while, the pain is more severe. Can this be right?
Avatar n tn My husband and sister are both physicans, and althought not cardiologist, had many questions on his treatment and plan for me. I had a miscarriage at 12 weeks in August. I changed cardiologist and recently had an ablation and 3-D mapping. During the ablation the cardiologist had a hard time controling my heart rate and blood pressure. I now take a beta blocker daily and still have SVTs even on a cardiac diet. I ended up having every type of SVT except Wolf H Syndrome.
