Common Questions and Answers about Pacemaker lifespan

pacemaker

Avatar f tn Hi.. I am 20. I am getting pacemaker.. How many years i can live? What is the average life span for me?
Avatar f tn Hello. So glad I found this site! I just turned 50 yrs old. I had a pacemaker implanted in Feb 2011. Dr's said I had "heart block". To this day I'm still unsure what that is, but I was in the hospital at the time for seizures & a rare disease called P.R.E.S. It's basically swelling of the brain. Anyway, I was watching tv in my hosp room when a code was called, nurses came running : it was for me!
Avatar m tn Will a pacemaker completely eliminate death as a result of a SA attack? I realize that the pacemaker itself is a fairly simple procedure, however, as I am only 38, I will definitely need replacement leads over time, and the risk factor of lead removal surgery has me quite frightened. Most of the data available for CCHB is either old or hard to find. It seems that pacing is suggested in nearly every case especially with increasing age.
Avatar n tn First time I post here for some patients there is help for heart failure with a cardiac resynchronization pacemaker crt pacemaker also called CHF pacemaker one also needs a very good EP electrophysiology cardiologist as they specialize in this area and several heart medicines and daily diuretics. For 2 ot of 3 patients this really helps I was told.
Avatar f tn I had a pacemaker inserted which has given me great relief -- no more light-headed moments and also I can now be prescribed medications in doses that are effective in controlling fast heart beats.
1331422 tn?1326566597 trust me an ablation is worlds away from having a pacemaker inserted and the normal lifespan for a pacemaker is anywhere from 6 - 8 years where an ablation is a permanent solution. I would just think about it a little is all.....look at all of the options and talk them over with the DOCTOR not the nurse my friend...good luck w. your decision.....
Avatar m tn The only electrophysiology patients ive ever seen go downhill in the procedure were pacemaker patients, not ablation patients, and they technically went downhill in the cath lab. Among these patients that went downhill during pacemaker implantation, 100% were high risk and already inpatients within the intensive care unit. None were healthy 35 year old outpatients.
Avatar n tn if a person suffered from chronic hepatitis B. that what is the lifespan of the person in that case.

Avatar m tn Cardiologists lived to the age of 73.4 (±13) years. This was a shorter lifespan than dermatologists (76.5 ±13 years) but longer than gastroenterologists (70 ±16 years). http://bjcardio.co.
Avatar f tn Oh my goodness. I'm really sad to read this! That must be really hard to go through for her AND you. Watching our loved ones suffer, ugh. Again, I'm so sorry. I do not know the lifespan. I assume she has a care team. Can they do anything for the situation to improve it? Have they called in hospice?
Avatar f tn My surgeon was forthright in telling both options and that at my age this is the one recommended. I also had an aneurysm repaired at the same time. March 12 I had a pacemaker put in. I have never felt better in my life! Before the surgery I was told I had about 2 years to live, and now I have a normal lifespan predicted. I now have a meter in my home so I can test my PT/INR weekly. The numbers are then faxed via phone to my doctor. The testing is about the same as you do for diabetes.
Avatar f tn Hm, why do you feel there is a fly around you. The average fly lifespan is very short as in less than a month. So, three years of this sensation is a long time. Have you spoken to your doctor about this?
Avatar f tn There is no formula that says that you have diabetes, subtract x number of years from your lifespan. Diabetes is a controllable disease. By maintaining a stable blood sugar, you have the power to prevent many of the symptoms/side effects of diabetes. The lifestyle you lead is a bigger factor in overall lifespan. A healthy diet, regular exercise, and healthy lifestyle decisions can do more to extend your life than a diabetes diagnosis may do to shorten it.

Avatar m tn when put into accelerated valve wear testing machines, they can last the equivalent of 50,000 years which is ample time for the average human lifespan. It requires anti-coagulant medication to keep running in good order. As for pregnancy, mechanical valves do greatly raise the risk of fetal problems, such as still births. The culprit is believed to be the anti-coagulant (warfarin) which crosses the placenta barrier. Trials are trying to establish if dosage could be the answer.
Avatar n tn Okay, first I would like to say hello to everyone here, and thank you if anyone can help me out with this..... I am currently enrolled in a PC1000 class and have to take randon drug tests. Unfortunately, I have severe panic/anxiety disorder, along with severe insomnia, so I try to play "nice" with the program and only take my "meds" on the weekends since they're not allowed... My question, if anyone can help me out, is how long does Xanax or Valium stay in your system?
1139941 tn?1260913035 Normlly my health has been v good and my weight is in the ideal range - however I recently had some emotional and indecision probloems since I retired just under 2 years ago - I am 66 years and did suffer some depression recently (never previously) for which the doctor has proscribed Citalopram 10 mg per day now Citalopram 20 mg per day. Assuming I agree to this, what is my likely lifespan after angioplasty - no related problems or ever stroke etc.
