pacemaker

Avatar m tn I understand that immediatly after getting a pacemaker installed there are lifting restrictions. After the healing period (how long is that any way?) are there any lifting restrictions?
Avatar f tn I am 1 1/2 post pacemaker implant. I am so exhausted that I just want to sleep all the time. No pain or anything else. I also had a heart attack 4 wks ago with a stent placement. Should I be this exhausted after these 2 procedures?
Avatar n tn metoprolol may not correct SOB! The pacemaker has corrected bradycardia!? The pacemaker will override any disruptions of the normal electrical impulses controlling the rate of your heart's pumping action. SOB is almost always a serious symptom...it was the only symptom for the admitting personal to put me in an emergency status, but I had other symptoms, dry cough, hyperventilating when laying down, etc . She said that is all that is needed is SOB.
Avatar f tn My mother is 83. She has had irregular heartbeat for nearly 20 years and had a pacemaker implanted 3 years ago. Her last echogram showed her EF to be 20% and she has had several episodes of congestive heart failure. She is physically run down.....weight loss, loss of muscle, not to mention depression. Her cardiologist wants to implant a biventricular pacemaker. I am wondering if the benefits will out weigh the risks at this point.
Avatar n tn Hello all a very frustrating journey this past year has been, I apologize for the long post but the journey has been long. I'm a 23 year old female. Back in December I felt very short of breath & dizzy, I went to the emergency room where my heart rate was 168, they treated me & said I suffered from SVT.
Avatar n tn i have had 13 more catherizations,CABG for two arterys, and 3 more stent inplants. It has been a stressful 13 years,My doctors want me to have a defib and 2 pacemaker leads inplanted,The studies seem pretty vague on if someone post 5 yr.M.I.,who has not fibrillated in 12 + years has a need for a defirillator???I would like to know what new procedures are available(laser?)if any that might help my E.F. increase??
Avatar f tn Hello, I thought I would try to post here also since I posted and paid on the doctors form and still have not recieved a post back. I know these doctors are very busy and they do this out of the kindness of their heart but it's sometimes hard to sit and wait when you are anxious. I am a 35 year old female with a history of mild aortic vlave disease, mitral valve insufficiency, papiations and I am currently being treated for hypokalemia (3.1). I do also suffer anxiety.
Avatar m tn in the search I just did there. The ILADS guidelines for diagnosis and treatment have several versions; there is apparently one under revision now and it has not been posted yet, and it is confusing to read so many drafts etc. on the ILADS website. However if you go to www [dot] ilads [dot] org / news / Educational /69 [dot] html, it will explain the current state of standard of care recommendations from ILADS, which are in draft version.
987762 tn?1671273328 also you can now have an MRI with a pacemaker. I had one done in Febuary. The pacemaker representative has to be there to turn off the pacemaker (to keep the settings from being messed up) and a cardiologist usually is there in case he might be needed. Then afterwards, they turn the pacemaker back on and recheck the settings. Very good write up though!
Avatar f tn Yes, an athlete's heart can be below 60 bpm at rest, and an ekg will produce an abnormal report if the bpm is less than 60. Hypokinesis is a definition for heart wall movement impairment. And depending on the location of hypokineses there may not be any wall movement that significantly impairs the heart's contractions. The septum is the wall that separates the right and left chambers and may have verly little impact on the heart's output and no symptoms.
Avatar f tn There are many people on Thyroid Chat that say that the ACCE guidelines that state subclinical would be TSH over 10 with normal t/3 t/4 or TSH 5-10 with normal t/3 t/4 and goiter or antibody are outdated and todays guidelines say that TSH should be at 1 or at least below 3 EVEN with normal t/3 t/4.
Avatar m tn I am trying to get something in writing to show that this decision does not follow within the accepted guidelines for treatment of his form of Hepititis. I believe the Dr. in Az. may have made this decision not realizing he did not have a 12 week blood sample. My son is 43 years old and in otherwise good health. He has not had any symptoms of Hep C nor has he had any side effects from the treatments.
Avatar m tn Before going into any major procedure like pacemaker implants better seek for 2nd 3rd or more opinion. Unless its life threatening. I had my pacemaker implanted almost 1 year now and it really hit me big time emotionally and psychologically im turning 32 this month and upto now what ive been complaining to my cardiologist last year before the implant still exist.
806331 tn?1238119610 t available at 137 mcg), and began experiencing atrial fibrillation 6 years ago. Sometimes TSH was within the guidelines, sometimes above, sometimes below. I also take coumadin daily because I had an artificial mitral valve installed over ten years ago to replace a defective valve due to rheumatic heart disease. Heart rate runs between 75 and 160. On calcium channel blocker, the heart rate is now 70 - 90, but it goes up to 120 with stress or physical exertion.
675084 tn?1233087505 good you ask me.. my pacemaker is set to 80beats and I'm 100% depend on my pacemaker.. i have a Medtronic this my 2nd. pacemaker... my first Medtronic pacemaker i had it for 18 yrs. until the doctor turn it down than it didn't work good.. had to get a new one.. in Dec. it will be 2yrs. i had my pacemaker check last week and i find out the doctor that put my pacemaker in didn't set my pacemaker for life depend.. Good news is now my pacemaker is set for it not to be ever turn off..
Avatar m tn t know much about heart block so you hopefully someone else will jump on who does but I would definitely get a second opinion before putting a pacemaker in. Best of luck sorting it out.
Avatar f tn The pacemaker itself should not be a deterent from having an ablation. I've had a pacemaker for 6 years (because of an ablation actually), and then had another ablation about a year ago. Unfortunately, the ablations don't work for me, but I have IST, not SVT so hopefully they're more effective for that.
Avatar f tn My pacemaker battery had been dead for over a year and a half, and I just now was told that the pacemaker will have to be removed because it can damage the heart if it doesn't have a battery. Is this true? Incidentally, my pacemaker had not been activated for several years, as it was set for the minimum and didn't ever have to kick in.
Avatar f tn I have had numerous surgeries including the Fontan in 1987 with a revision of the Fontan in 2006, where at that time I also had a Medtronic Enrhythym Pacemaker install. 3 weeks ago I had a Pacemaker replacement due to the fact my battery on my Pacemaker was running low. The new Pacemaker installed is a Medtronic Adapta. Since the new pacemaker my Heart beat has been all over the place. My 1st Enrhythym was paced at 80 bpm, and it pretty much stayed like that for 5.
Avatar n tn i had 3 open heart surgery and on my 2nd. pacemaker.. my first pacemaker last me for 18yrs. and just got my 2nd. pacemaker Dec.2006.. my pacemaker was implanted in my upper chest on the right side.. only thing i hate the surgery doctor told me he would use the same cut as the other pacemaker but when i woke up he cut me in another spot.. well i can say.. ask your doctor his he using the same cut as the first pacemaker was in..
Avatar f tn Do you have a pacemaker? The best is to check with your doctor or pacemaker technician. I don't know what can it cause the heart functioning abnormality if you have the inverted T waves? Anyone knows? It also depends if you're a pacemaker dependent or not. I'm not a pacemaker depend. I go well with the equipment which marks "Pacemaker user caution". If I found my heart beats abnormally, then I stop using it and try again after the heart settle.
Avatar n tn Hi, I'm sorry about your mom. Its my understanding that they don't "stop" the pacemaker, Nature takes it course regardless of the pacemaker. I went through this with my mom.
Avatar n tn My normal pulse rate with out pacemaker is 54 ppm. My dual lead pacemaker is set at 70 ppm, some people with pacemakers have the pacemaker rate set below their normal heart Resting rate Ex. normal rate 50 ppm Pacemaker set at 45 ppm. What determines the optimun pulse rate for the pacemaker? My Doctor is willing to set it at any rrrrrrrrrrate I choose. I am 86 years old in good physical shape, play tennis do nautilis and swim several times a week.
