Pacemaker failure to output

Common Questions and Answers about Pacemaker failure to output

pacemaker

Avatar m tn To add to what already has been said a pacemaker is needed when the system's natural pacemaker (sinus node in the right atrium) may be irregular. Your medication helps control high blood pressure and probably would be prescribed without a pacemaker.
Avatar n tn They were not able to place a 2nd stent due to blockage. They did not do open heart surgery due to high risk and because her size (very thin). Recently, she was hospitalized for low b.p. , dehydration, and kidney function, low urine output, UTI. They replaced fluids and removed a lot of the b.p. lowering meds, including isosorbide, due to the concern of the low b.p. When released, she had a lot of swelling in the ankles and difficult breathing.
Avatar n tn my dads x-rays in january showed his heart was normal size now in may it show enlarge 10 to 15 % of his heart is working . we have pacemaker/defil in and was told he has CHF so how long does it take for you heart to enlarge? This discussion is related to Enlarged Heart.
Avatar f tn He will be given medications to improve the cardiac output and if needed an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). Regards.
Avatar f tn s output. The symptoms of this medical conditions could be edema, weight gain, decreased urine output, dizziness, syncope, restlessness, anxiety, fatigue, weakness. With ample compensating factors, a low EF may not present any symptoms...if there is decompensation, the above symptoms, etc. would be apparent.
Avatar m tn m turning 48 years old next month and have been suffering from Congestive Heart Failure for the last 12 years of my life. My Ejection Fracture is between 25%-35%. I am on my second pacemaker ICD Defib. and due for a new one within the next 6-8 months. My symptoms lately have been of weight loss, low appetite. extreme tiredness and aches and pains (particularly the lower back). Are the symptoms of the last stages of CHF? What is my projected longevity estimated at this point?
291222 tn?1210048328 Usually, an EF below 29% (fraction of blood pumped with each stroke) is not enough cardiac output to meet the oxygen/blood demand. My EF was below 29% and the underlying problem was some impairment to the heart muscle compromising contractility. I did not have an arrhythmia issue although my enlarged heart could have made me vulnerable. Currently my EF and heart size is normal due to medication, exercising, proper diet, etc. So you can normalize your EF.
Avatar f tn So, in other words, low blood pressure may be caused by both low cardiac output ( for example dehydration or heart failure) and low resistance (dilated blood vessels due to heat, autonomic failure, BP medication overdosage, etc..) Usually, the heart rate increases with low bp, to increase cardiac output. If your heart rate is 67, the body thinks the BP is okay. That's a bit unusual if you are having symptoms, but really common with beta blockers, like Woogie said.
Avatar n tn An EF below 30% is considered heart failure range and usually that reduces cardiac output to the degree that will cause shortness of breath, muscle fatigue, etc.. An enlarged heart is almost always secondary to heart failure, but it can be primary and cause heart failure and a low EF. Also, an enlarged heart, left ventricle, can cause arrhythmia, and the EKG indicates an incomplete BBB. An ICD is recommended and advisable.
Avatar m tn I am a 52 year old, male, with congestive heart failure. My output is approximatley 70%. I have passed out in the heat many times at work, and I have been treated for fluid - polmunary edama three times. I was diagnosed in 2,008. I am pre-diabetic, need two new knees - due to viral and osteo-arthritis. I have been told that my last C.T. Found three dozen polips - of which six are are about 11mil. In size. Doctor would like to remove all. My qusetion is about my angina.
Avatar n tn can my PMD give a false reading due to being very close to a high output rpm go cart motor
Avatar f tn Has anyone discussed a Cardiac resyncronization therapy device with you both? It's a pacemaker that has 3 wires inside the heart to make both ventricles contract at the same time increasing his cardiac output and therefore his ejection fraction. Our patients say it's like night and day with their failure symptoms. There's other factors in being a candidate and that depends on the hospital. But you may want to look into this option.
Avatar f tn My daughter was born with several heart defects.a pacemaker was implanted after surgery because she had complete heart-block. She thrived after her surgery and lived life to the fullest. On June 20,2009, when she was three and a half years old, she tragically fell to the ground. She was rushed to the hospital, but they were unsuccessful in reviving her.It was later determined at autopsy that her pacemaker lead had fractured. It was a Medtronic pacemaker. I have been in disbelief since then.
250051 tn?1328131130 You have a low ejection fraction and it sounds as if you are having symptoms of shortness of breath with minimal exertion. Additionally, it sounds as if you are on the correct medicines: an ACE inhibitor, a beta blocker, spironalactone, and diuretics. It may be very reasonable to see a heart failure specialist since you are still symptomatic. There are several things to consider in managing your heart failure. It would also be helpful to know what is the underlying cause of your heart failure.
Avatar f tn Doctors will not operate on AAA or pacemaker replacement due to frailness. What can I expect as the battery on the pacemaker fails?
424096 tn?1223931472 i had a pacemaker implanted 3 months ago and i've had nothing but problems since. I used to suffer constant nausea but no vomitting somehow or pain either. Since i had the op everytime i eat i get a severe pain on the lower right sight which cripples me for hours. the surgeon has no idea what's causing it but my gp says it can only caused by the electrical output caused by the pacemaker which makes sense to me.
Avatar n tn Low cardiac output can be the result of an abnormally slow heart rate. It can be due to less forceful heart contractions, very fast heartbeat doesn't provide enough time for the filling phase, enlarged left ventricle heart walls that restricts the filling space available, or stiff heart walls that don't relax and impedes the filling space. Treatment would be to reduce the heart's workload.
642877 tn?1281799282 I had to get a pacemaker to deal with all the meds that are used to treat my heart. I love the thing. I makes daily life a more sure thing. It was the highlight of 2008. Good luck with the meds. It is a really small dose of one of the more innocuous medicines and so it isn't likely to cause you too much problems.
Avatar m tn If a coronary vessel becomes blocked, there can be chest pain, heart failure, heart arrest. A clot to the vessel going to the brain can cause stroke, coma, death as well a clot to the brain.
Avatar f tn Is your uncle a heart failure patient? Furosmide is medication as a diuretic to prevent congested heart failure. The medication should provide relief for shortness of breath, and the only association with shortness of breath would be that medication is not effective and there is some pulmonary edema and the heart is not pumping effectively.... the blood is backing up into the lungs and causing SOB (relative to the diuretic ineffective).
Avatar m tn t find anything. Originally I thought a pacemaker may be of some benefit, but the article I saw said that with Atrial Fibrillation, it only works for people that are Tachy-Brady (and some limited circumstances) Please see the following link (copy and paste if it's not clickable). Hope this is of some help, you've been through so much. http://www.webmd.
2093880 tn?1334813768 So far structurally my heart looks fine, so I guess that's good. Although I'm guessing my uncle that passed away's heart look fine too because he had a Cardiac CT done a week before he died and he and my mom both felt exactly the same before dying. I don't smoke, I don't think 2 of them did either. All were pretty active, like me. My mom worked out and played sports as did my uncle and myself.
