Welcome to the forum~ I've heard of some dr's using a "5 day tramadol" method to taper down.....but your dr is suggesting norco, valium AND tramadol? Just so you know.....like said above, tramadol IS a semi-synthetic opiate.....it also has an antidepressant component in it. We have MANY tramdol warriors on this forum who say it is WAY WORSE to come off of trams, than norco (hydrocodone).

Thanks for the update, Lulu. I've been thinking about DJ a lot, even though I haven't been around the forum that much, either. I did see the post about how she was doing and how she's like a super kind of cat with more than nine lives. She is one amazing lady. I hope the doctors are able to get her pain under control, that the spinal leak heals soon, and any lingering infections are dealt with right away, her lungs clear, and her spirits are kept up.

DJ is a wonderful person and an inspiration. My thoughts are with her. Thank you Lulu for keeping us informed.

I am so glad you were able to make it over to see DJ. What a special day you both must have had. DJ looks like she is feeling better and G-d willing this new neuro will be able to help her with the pain. I hope DJ will tell us about her experience with the sitting MRI. I've heard of it before but don't know a single person who has done it yet. Sounds better than lying down. She'll do great. Love to you both.

DJ sends her love to everyone on the forum. I spoke with her today and she is sad that she hasn't been able to be on here but she is having problems with her vision right now. She is going in for another test tomorrow and then has another appointment at the end of the month so it will be a little while yet before she knows anything for certain. What she is certain of is that she is going to get through all of this and will be on top yet!!!

DJ is one of the many on this forum that offer endless inspiration to the rest of us. It is painful to see her suffer such distress. Please pass on to her that there is an army around the world lifting her in prayer, and an invisible army at her side and her mother's, ministering to their spirits as the doctors and nurses do so for their bodies.

DH and I are trying it again - going to Butler, PA, to see dear DJ. She's not been doing so well, I hope we can have a good visit. I hope western PA stays out of the path of the rain and we have a dry drive over and back. I'll be back here either late Sunday or sometime on Monday. Also, Shell texted me tonight that she is ready for Irene and won't be on the forum this weekend. She'll check in on the flip side of the weekend.

DJ this was so inspiring that I'm bumping it up for another go around!! I hope it inspires someone else as much as it did me!!

DJ needs to appoint someone to take this to court for her. She does not have, nor will she have, the energy to pursue this herself. She shouldn't sue Medtronic first, she should sue the hospital and the doctor's that were involved in this "cover-up." She would surely be able to locate an attorney that will not bill her for any charges to take this to litigation.

Hi DJ. I've been on the forum coming up close to a year but haven't got to know you much either. I do know from Lulu's posts that this has been a terribly difficult year for you. I hope that is behind you now. PA might be more like you remember it by next summer. I certainly hope so! I grew up in NJ and have been in OH for the last 30 years. I don't remember either of the states you are sandwiched between being as bad in the summer as they have been this year.

Well it is lovely to read your Happy New Year message and I am sure that you are going to be inundated with messages from all your friends who have been thinking of you and missing your calm presence on the forum. I am so sorry that you are suffering with so much pain and you are such a brave lady and I hope that you can keep the morphine to a level that gives you relief and allows you to do what you are able to. Dear Moki, The trials you and DJ are facing right now are hard to even put into words. Pllease know that your forum family is thinking of you and holds your mom and you close in thought.

A special thank-you goes to Karen, here on the forum, who helped DJ cut through a lot of the California red tape and getting this help. If it weren't for your help, Karen, DJ might still be waiting for her phone calls to be returned. The other good news from DJ is that she has a new cat - it is a 3 year old Maine Coon, that was brought to her from a shelter. It took a few days to acclimate to the new environment and is now quite content to hang with DJ.

I'm sorry if my posting that triggered anything in anyone. I'm sorry if it was insensitive and I shoulda thought about it. It had the opposite effect on me. I'm newly clean and I watched it and thought "how disgusting" and that I never wanted to take them again. I guess we're all different. hang in there fellow poppers! we're all doing so good!

Well DJ, here we are with another year come and gone. Pretty amazing, isn't it, that we're here to celebrate together? Enjoy the first day of this new year - may the new year bring you much peace and joy.

Here's the next update - DJ is doing very well in Pennsylvania. tonight she sounded the best I have ever heard her be - she says it is because her stress is gone. There are all sorts of social services agencies organzied for her, including housekeeping, nursing visits and personal care aids. She said her whole week was filled with all these people coming and going. She is meeting people in her building - which is lifting her spirits, too.

Hey everyone - here's the news. DJ and her daughter Lori are on a United flight out of LAX Saturday morning, 10:30ish. It is a direct flight to PA, so no layovers. Please keep a positive thought, say a prayer, spin around three times and spit - whatever it is you do! LOL - that they have a safe journey and encounter kind, compassionate workers at LAX, in the security line, on the flight and arrive intact and in good spirits in Pennsylvania.
