255722 tn?1452546541 The spread of electricity throughout the heart muscle is possible because all heart muscle cells, not just pacemaker cells, are excitable. Usually, the heart muscle cells keep time more slowly than normal pacemaker cells. This allows the pacemaker cells within the SA node to be in control of generating and pacing the heartbeat.
Avatar f tn Atherosclerosis (Atherosclerosis, AS) is a form of vascular endothelial cells (vascular endothelial cell, VEC) damage, vascular smooth muscle cells (vascular smooth muscle cell, VSMC) proliferation as the main pathological features of vascular disease.
Avatar f tn The papillary protrusion which lacks a fibrovascular core, shows the absence of myoepithelial cells using immunoperoxidase stains for CK5/6, smooth muscle actin, and smooth muscle myosin. Myoepithelial cells, however, are present at the periphery of this dialted duct.
Avatar n tn Dehydration is by far the biggest killer with fever, and fluid loss can be counteracted by monitoring the patient and using IV to push more fluids in. With loss of fluids, cells will start to die, blood pressure will drop and this is not a good situation to be in. From reports I've read with brain cells, they may start to die at 42c. From the patients I've observed in intensive care, they keep the heart rate low, 70-80 to keep it from overworking over long periods of time.

Avatar m tn chamber filling), and repolarization (discharging...contractility of chamber) heart cells. In arterial smooth muscle cells, intracellular calcium paradoxically controls both contraction and relaxation.... The mechanisms by which calcium can differentially regulate diverse physiological responses within a single cell remain unresolved.... Calcium-dependent relaxation is mediated by local calcium release from the sarcoplasmic reticulum.

Avatar f tn Will 8/10 become 10/10? Estrogen receptors shows 2+ positivity in 80-90% of the smooth muscle cells. Do I have cancer? Do I remain an 8/10..will that number increase or decrease? What factors will contribute to that? My GYN is lovely. I just don't know enough to even formulate an intelligent question... I just need to know if i am precancerous and if and how long it will take my 8/10 mitotic index to change to 10 mitoses per 10 high power field.
Avatar m tn In large and medium size vessels and in the kidney, endothelial dysfunction leads to enhanced growth and vasoconstriction of vascular smooth muscle cells and mesangial cells, respectively. These changes in the cells of smooth muscle lineage play a key role in the development of both atherosclerosis and glomerulosclerosis.
Avatar f tn PVCs and PACs occur when heart cells other than the typical pacemaker cells generate an electrical impulse and then a muscle contraction and heart beat. These may occur rarely or in some cases very frequently. Similarly, some people aren't aware of these while other people feel very symptomatic with them.
Avatar f tn I have smooth muscle spasms in my gut, mostly in the diaphragm area, though they often spread up my chest, and sometimes affect my lower abdomen. A colonoscopy has shown no organic disease in the colon, and u/sound scans and MRI scans have ruled out any disease in other abdominal organs. The spasms have a severe effect on my breathing, making me constantly breathless, and I am woken several times a night struggling to breathe.
Avatar m tn CK is an enzyme which is present in skeletal muscle, brain, photoreceptor cells of the retina, hair cells of the inner ear, spermatozoa and smooth muscles.. It is mainly used as a marker of myocardial infarction (heart attack), rhabdomyolysis (severe muscle breakdown), muscular dystrophy, and acute renal failure. the result will vary if any muscle damage happend. In your case as you have a muscle injury, the result may be a false positive one.
Avatar n tn Nerves don't make the heart beat. Cardiac muscle cells are the pacemakers. There's a primary group in the atria called the sinoatrial (SA) node. this fires the atria. the discharge then travels to the atrioventricular (AV) node which fires the ventricles. What they are probably talking about is either ablating (destroying) the SA node or AV node. Both are different and require different types of pacing.
Avatar n tn Right bbb means that the usual route the signal takes to activate the muscle in the large right chamber is blocked. The signal cannot get thru the usual route. There can be different reasons, but it generally finds a different way around, through normal heart cells. However, this can cause a delay, meaning the right chamber is contracting slower or is delayed compared to the left. This is probably what they are referring to with regards to borderline.
Avatar n tn It started two months ago with UTI, family doc found blood in urine, gave me cipro, no help with burning in the urethra/muscle spasms, no urgency to urine, or up at night, just constant pain, tested again, no infection, so I have had 2 cystoscopes, 2nd Urologist found a tiny smooth stone the size of a pinhead and he couldn't grab it due to being so small and said it would pass within the week, he ordered CTScan, ultrasound, blood work, liver enzyme lab, microlab, and NOTHING, all negative.
Avatar n tn I had 23 Million of my own Stem Cells placed back into my heart muscle and vascular system. I was the 510th person to have this procedure done by an American Cardiologist. Unfortunately6, it can't be done in the USA because it does not have FDA approval!!!! I am awaiting the results of the 23 Million Stem Cells. Please note, these are replications of my OWN Stem Cells - not embryonic - so there is no rejection factor involved.
401554 tn?1270213756 Mainly, you need to talk to your doctor about this. Herbs and supplements are not regulated by the FDA and, given the recent news that some things that ARE regulated by the FDA aren't so well regulated, I'm always nervous about completely UNREGULATED products. I took Norpace for awhile. It is a heavy duty antiarhytmetic that suppresses the sodium and potassium channels causing the pacemaker cells to fire more "regularly.
329165 tn?1515471990 Just a quick background: 32, female. Have Mitral Valve with mild Regurg. Ablation done Nov. 2007 to treat PSVT and arrthythmia. I had 3 conductors and EP was only able to ablate 1. I still get Tachycardia and irregular heart beat (8 miss-beats in a minute) daily and my Beta-blockers slows my HR down to about 80, but it still misses beats. That part I can live with (miss beats) the Tachy is scary!
Avatar n tn Many cardiac muscle cells can contract spontaneously, but the cells in the Pacemaker region are, during fetal development, the fastest-beating ones, and the fastest ones normally dominate the whole show. However, many of us have independent-minded cardiac cells that can trigger a contraction (a PVC) if they get the opportunity, and opportunity arises when the Pacemaker's rate slows down--as happens when you're cooling off after exercise, or when you're getting sleepy at bedtime.
Avatar f tn j have a pacemaker which i want removed how do i go about this since i have had the pacemaker i have has depression very badlt regards cgristina
Avatar f tn Smooth muscle ab .... A POSITIVE Smooth muscle ab titre .... A 1:80 Now, what does that mean? 3 weeks is a long time wondering. Does this mean he has some internal damage such as cirrhosis?
Avatar n tn s attached to the bones and peripheries, Cardiac muscle fibers found in heart and Smooth muscle fibers present in various organs as covering and in vessels of our body. I have not understood what test was done in blood which showed raised smooth muscle. Secondly there is no co-relation as far as I know that exists between osteoarthritis, spinal stenosis and smooth muscle problems. Can you reply and also check it out with your doctor regarding this. Keep me informed if you have any queries. Bye.
Avatar f tn t found one which affected me. The toll charge in Singapore did screw up my pacemaker because every time when I pass the toll, my heart beats went messy. I can tell it is the toll zone there. LOL. I use the electric muscle massager pads. It sticks just behind my pacemaker (shoulder). It didn't affect my heart function so I know it is safe.
Avatar f tn My bloods were tested again and the doc also tested for auto antibodies and found low levels of smooth muscle antibodies, and white cells at 3.2. She said that ive probably had a nasty virus and to go back in six weeks to be re tested. Obviously I wanted to understand this so I began to look up smooth muscle antibodies etc, and found these were affected by illnesses such as epstein bar, glandular fever (which I sufered with at 13) Im almost 40 now, and viral hepatitis.
