I have a feeling I've just been decreased in pain relief. My dr & the pharmacist told me to wait a few days to "feel it's working" & in the meantime I'm in excruciating pain. I take the morphine at 10am and at 8 or 9pm. The morphine does not last 12 hours like it is prescribed. Nor does it last 8 hours. It lasts only 6 hours. I am being forced to switch insurances at the end of the year so I am hanging on until I meet my new physician next year. Hoping some changes can be made to my pain meds at that time.

can u fail a drug test, done with urine/ with no lab there, for morphine while taking opana er 40mgs. 2 times a day without taking any other pain meds.?
When I first started Morphine I had really bad heartburn. You could check the prescription leaflet for the Oxymorphone to see if anything you experienced last night is in there.
Before switching to Morphine, I had 1/2 of my daily dose of Tramadol (200 mgs) switched out and replaced with Vicodin. I did experience Tramadol withdrawal with this change and it lasted for a good month (chills, body aches, and restless legs). My doctor gave me Ativan to help with the withdrawal.
This Oxymorphone ER, it may help your pain better and does not appear to have anything other than a pain med which may be better for your liver

Did they check off oxymorphone (opana) or morphine on the lab slip? Oxymorphone (Opana) is a semi-synthetic opioid, unlike morphine which is an opiate.
If there was an error is the test request, that could explain the false negative.
Btw, Opana is available in generic form- oxymorphone hcl ER by globabal pharmaceuticals. I know because I take it currently.
Oxycodone is about half as strong as Oxymorphone per mg. So you were talking 60mg of Oxycontin (Oxycodone) and going by a Opioid (Narcotic) analgesic converter you would need 30mg of Opana (Oxymorphone) to get the same pain releif and most likley the same to cover the withdrawl. You are now taking 10mg of Opana where 30mgs is what the converter says you need. You need to talk to your Dr. about dosage and don't take more than your Dr wrote the Opana for until he or she OKs it.
I have built up a tolerance to oxycodone IR that I have had to take 3 times my dose just to get my pain to get down to a moderate level. The research I have done is that oxymorphone is stronger and less mg. I have several questions. Are taking less mg easier on the body? How do I ask my doctor to switch, I don't want to seem like just another patient trying to get high.
Oxymorphone is supposed to be 8-10 times stronger than morphine.It does great on the pain but like with all opiates you get tolerance.Mr Dr says the only thing stronger is fentanyl but the patches scare me.Lots of bad publicity on those.
I have been on Morphine Sulfate 15mgx4 per day for chronic pain. Now my outrageous insurance is saying I must try Opana in it's place before they will let me use my morphine. I am concerned that it will not take care of this pain as I have tried tyelenol w/codiene, tramadol and a patch and none of them work. I am afraid that this will not take care of my pain and it will be days before I can get an appeal in. Is Opana/oxymorphone stronger than these others that I have taken.
Opana is oxymorphone and is quite similar to morphine....you can dump this, especially with some help through detox - wont be fun or easy - but is doable....
Someone very close to me has been using morphine for over 15 years, and has severe stomach issues that are to this day unresolved. He was hospitalized for 5 days about four years ago, and then for 6 days about half of a year ago. It only happens every so often, but it's really a concern, especially since none of the specialsist, universities, and the nations best health care can figure out what's wrong with him.
Also 15mg's if oxymorphone ER. Morphine 39mgs ER didn't do a Dan think. The oxymorphone us better but far from great. The ixycidibe doesn't work at 5mgs. No I gave not built up a tolerance because I only take the oxycidibe when I need it. What U do is rake 5nfs if oxycodone and 3 or 4 hours later take another tablet. I never double the dose. I think 10mgs is the minimum I should be prescribed. Are any if you in the sane situation as I am. I'm very angry about this!!!
