Oxycontin withdrawal back pain

Common Questions and Answers about Oxycontin withdrawal back pain

oxycontin

Avatar m tn When used correctly oxycontin is a good, safe and probably imho less addictive than vicodin. but people in pain should also be allowed to take short acting vicodin. We that are in chronic pain should not be punished with these draconian new pharmaceutical laws just because there are others that abuse them. they are lumping pain patients in the same lot as addicts. the war on anything is a sleazy market for the police/prison/banker launderers complex who rule our politicians, lawmakers.
Avatar m tn I have rheumatoid arthritis in my back dont know what A/s is. I had back pain for years.tried physical therapy, all the celebrex and anti inflammatory pills even magnets I have hepc from a blood transfusion(really) & when I went thru the chemo treatment my arthritis flared to the point could get up some days. Long story found a doc who gave OXY 3 years ago. they didn't make drowsy they picked me up and controlled the pain. Now no pills and got to figure out how to get to work.
Avatar m tn well my story started last year with a shooting pain in my back which turned out to be a kidney stone. this little bugger was just below the size they choose to go in after so I spent 8 agonizing weeks trying to get rid of it myself which i did but not without being prescribed first percocets then an ambitiously older doctor decided to put me on two 60 miligram slow release morphine tablets a day for three weeks.
Avatar n tn Did real good until I hurt my back. I got real depressed with lots of pain and started to take them again. I'd like to get off and heard of tramadol helping. Suboxone withdrawal was awful for me. This site makes tramadol sound like a bad idea. Beginning to think I have to go away or go to rapid detox.
Avatar m tn I was told this was a better forum for this post. I have chronic low back and left leg pain for which I've been taking oxycontin for about 10 years. Right now I'm taking about 300mg OxyContin a day and about 30mg of hydrocodone for break through pain. It's getting to the point that it's not working and a lot of the day I'm feeling like I'm in withdrawal. Quite frankly I'm sick and tired of taking the stuff. I feel like I'm a slave to it.
406989 tn?1202051282 Get this though, my pain is no where near the pain i was having a week ago and last night, i finally got about 5 hrs of sleep on an ambien though. the day will come and that will go as well. life for me is already looking up. I'm getting ready to walk on the treadmeal for awhile to try to increase my energy. Oh yea guys, thanks about the anti diarrhea meds. my squirts have left the building for now.
Avatar n tn He will also have increased pain. It is ONLY the withdrawal that will produce the pain and it will subside once the physical withdrawal is over. There is a lot her can do to keep comfortable. Hot baths with epsom salt. Push fluids. A heating pad on his calves. Soup...tea. All things to make him comfortable. Imodium is very helpful. Any potassium supplement and bananas. It will be rough, but it is doable.
Avatar n tn My daughter, who lives 2 hrs away, came to visit on Thursday and informed me she has been taking onycontin. Today is Saturday and she has been going through withdrawal. How can I help her? I've been giving her Ibuprophen and last night Nyquil to help her sleep. Should she drink lots of water? Warm baths? Swim pool? Also, my husband has some vicodin left over from past...but am afraid to give her that. Any suggestions to help?
Avatar f tn Search and find this link:" MY PERSONAL DIARY OF OXYCONTIN WITHDRAWAL." It started out as "Oxykicker's" personal Journal, yet hundreds upon hundreds of others have posted their own stories, woes, helpful advice and support and turned his Diary into the best information on Oxycontin withdrawal and PAWS (POST ACCUTE WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS) you will find anywhere here, or elsewhere.
Avatar m tn Just for a lol, when I Went to the emergency room they actually tried to give me the OxyContin again so that I could go back to my doctor and taper off they were shocked when I told them no I had a whole bottle at home I was throwing it away and all I wanted was something to call my anxiety.
Avatar n tn Approximately one year ago she was prescribed Oxycontin (180 mg per day) for relief from pain of fibromyalgia, DDD and carpal tunnel. Her doctor stopped prescribing about 7-8 months ago and she has been getting it from a friend. She is tired of the addiction and seems determined to kick it. I want to help her succeed but need some advice.
Avatar f tn /day) but am still taking percocet once or twice a day for pain. I still need it for the pain. I have been having digestive problems so thats way I went off the long acting. Is my body going to get it's energy back and withdraw properly when I'm still taking percocet occassionally or am I just going to continue to feel like **** all the time going in and out of withdrawal????

1046501 tn?1256457734 Hi, I have been taking Oxycontin for a year and have reduced from 100mg/day down to 10mg/day. The chronic pain from peripheral neuropathy is back with a vengeance, added to withdrawal symptoms it is unbearable. I have been referred to Rheumatology for tests but having read every one of these very helpful entries on OC withdrawal I am convinced my symptoms are not a progression to arthritis or Sjogrens Syndrome but simply (inappropriate word I know) withdrawal.
Avatar f tn s ok for a tox screen to show oxycontin when prescribed by a physician. Does anyone suffer from chronic pain. I started having surgeries in my thirties due to bone on bone. I've had several procedures on my feet. My hands are horribly arthritic even though no close women or men have had symptoms. Has anyone had hand joint replacement? I am discouraged and I wonder if I will have any relief even with joint replacement in my hands should I decide to do it. Thanks again.
Avatar f tn It truly sounds to me as though your pain is not controlled. It may be wise to up the oxycontin as for how many percs you were taking simply spreading 20mg of time release oxycodone over a 12 hour period is likely not enough but he may be working you up to a more realistic dose. Try to stick out his schedule as messing up now may prevent him from upping your dose as he may intend to do.
Avatar m tn Was in hospital for 3 months and during that time I had 10 lots of surgery on my left knee. Because I was in alot of pain I was prescribed Oxycontin 10mg twice a day. Since I was still in pain the Oxycontin was gradually increased to 200mg twice a day. Because of side affects it was changed, by my Dr, to 100mg 4 times a day. When I saw my pain management consultant a few months ago he put me on Buprenorphine Transdermal Patches, 10mg. ! patch to be put on for 7 days.
Avatar f tn I was taking 50mg.oyxcontin a.m. and 40 mg. p.m. I am down to 10 mg. now but I'm so tired. I was also taking Percocet for break thru pain 2-4 / day for about 2 years. The withdrawal hasn't been that bad. Sweats, a bit jittery but mostly fatigue and depression. I don't want to do anything. It's the fatigue that is driving me crazy. Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn I stopped taking oxycontin too suddenly after knee surgery, do not want to go back on it, but want something to allay the symptoms of withdrawal - stomach pains, nausea, feeling awful, not sleeping etc. Preferably simple foods or simple over the counter stuff.
Avatar f tn Hi again. I noticed your post about oxycontin. That's another med I'm on that I want to get off, as with all the other meds I'm on, as none are working any more for what they were prescribed for in the first place. I have to deal with tramadol withdrawal first though. Anyway, I'm on 20mg oxycontin morning, and 30mg afternoon, plus oxycodone 5-10mg for breakthrough pain.
Avatar f tn s to be expected when you have a back in need of pain pills and no pain pills. I decided to go with c/t instead of using the 10mg Vicodens just to speed things up. I told my wife to keep them handy in case I freak out. I'm still alive though so I figured I'd post. This website has been great so far. I wouldn't have gone through this at home and c/t with out this site.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, everything we do has consequences. A person tolerant to opiates will go through withdrawal as the tolerance comes down. The symptoms can be minimized by tapering the medication slowly, although many people cannot do that kind of taper, as they cannot control their use to that extent. You mentioned that you 'got him back into it' speaking of your BF and narcotics-- you don't have that power either.
Avatar f tn I'm on day 6 of withdrawal of 2x40 mg a day for the last four months, I did take more at times and really feared getting addicted so I quit cold turkey last Saturday, it's been hell on earth. I'm now on day 6 and still sick but more emotionally (very depressed with periods of anxiety) I'm taking clonipine which was prescribed at emerge where I also got a shot of morphine to stop the tremors.
Avatar f tn I was describing my headache to someone who said it sounded like withdrawal. I recently went off of oxycontin 10mg. Is it possible that the migraine was from withdrawal as opposed to neck injury?
Avatar m tn Then there is over that level which leaded the way to pain management. On Oxycontin 80mg three times a day and then 4 - 30 mg oxycodone a day. Had no pain. Felt great. Now fast forwarded to about 6 months ago They put me on 2 - 60mg oxycontin a day and 4 - 10mgs oxycodone. I couldnt stand long enough to cook dinner. So i bought poppy seed online. very carefully drank just enough to be able to cook dinner (no pain). Didnt think anything of it. But i did stop 4 days before pain management appt.
647137 tn?1299266391 the longer you stay on, the worse it gets. And---just for reference, the more you detox and go back, and detox and go back, the harder it becomes. It takes a toll on you mentally and physically. Let us know what is going on. BTW, don't mind me. I have been sitting here for a while today which I haven't done in some time and I think I am getting computer screen silly!
