Common Questions and Answers about Oxycontin side effects hearing

oxycontin

Avatar n tn I was wondering if anyone new about the side effects of Oxycontin. I am currently taking 60 mg. 3 times a day for chronic pain. I have notice among other things that my sex drive has pretty much disappeared and that I have real problems getting erections if I may be so bold here. So I was wondering if anyone knows if that is a normal side effect of this drug. Also sweating and chills seem to be happening alot.
909257 tn?1242668182 Pain medications have numerous side effects and those who do take pain meds on a regular basis do usually have some kind of depression due to the fact that they do have chronic pain but as far as the meds causing depression or bipolar no I do not believe so.
Avatar n tn Loss of hearing and tinnitus are both side effects of pain pill abuse, but it's usually a result of the acetaminophen in them, not the opiates. You may want to consult with a specialist.
597937 tn?1227513706 Did anyone else get the side effect of hearing loss from opiate use??? and does it come back after recovery and time, or is it just gone forever??
Avatar f tn My question is does the morphine make you really nauseated and throw up. The last few days the side effects have slowed down, but I would still like to hear some suggestions from people in the forum.
922573 tn?1304099329 t want to be on anything too strong. After several failed attempts at other medications (side effects), we decided to try Oxycontin since that has always worked in the past without any negative side effects. For some reason I don't tolerate the new formulation well. It makes me nauseous, causes cramping, etc...
725248 tn?1316162245 does this possible side effect go away as your body adjusts like most side effects...OR...is this known to continue w/ opana use? also...if you do end up going up on dosage does that start the side effects all over again or once you go thru intial adjustment u could be home free? fyi--i've been on lortab, vicoden, norco and percocet in the past (at seperate times) and lortab-no drowsy or headache vicoden-drowsy norco-indifferent...
Avatar f tn HOWEVER I have a girlfriend here in the same town that tried oxy and fentanyl and they give her the same side effects as you describe, seeing/hearing things and major paranoia...along with serious depression(crying alot)...she tried on and off for 2 years with these meds and the side effects persisted. therefore she is now living in a great deal of pain because she is afraid to try any more narcotics. There are many other medications you can try and need to discuss this with your doctor.
Avatar f tn i had to start oxycontin after an accident.....i want to stop the medication, but have been hearing horror stories...i don't get "high" off the medication, but if i miss a dose or go too late,,i go through horrible effects...does anyone know a good medication to take to ween myself off of this ****...and how long it typically takes...
Avatar m tn I would be particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has had similar side effects. Did your side effects fade gradually? Im just worried because my moods are getting so unpredictable and its difficult to deal with. Thanks!
230948 tn?1235844329 I was so irritable all the time. All I could do was stay in bed. I realized these were all side effects of this patch. The side effects of the patch so adversely effected my life I decided to take it off one night. I went through a detox like you'd never imagine. I had hallucinations, vomitting etc. I had no idea what I had done. I put the patch back on, and weened myself off of it over the next two weeks. I just couldn't live that way.
Avatar f tn My doc switched me from Neurontin to Lyrica because she said it had less side effects. She was wrong. A month later, the right side of my face went numb and I could not talk--I felt like I had mush mouth and thought maybe I was having a stroke. I talked to the pharmacist and he said 15 % of patients on Lyrica get ataxia, so he was not surprised. I went off of it and went back on the Neurontin. My doc told me some of her patients became incontinent on Lyrica so be careful.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else had these side effects from Lex? Anyone been on Lex for awile with no side effects, only to have them develop later? Don't side effects happen in the beginning only?
1047522 tn?1258145704 Your doctor will give you a sheet for each chemo drug they pump into you that lists side effects. What you need to remember is there is a difference between side effects and allergic reaction. You will most likely do just fine as most do with Taxane drugs. Don't be afraid to make that phone call to your onc with any questions as they "happen" to you. Best wishes with your treatment!
Avatar f tn I would make sure that this last prescription wasn't accidentally filled with the instant release and not the ER version... And I think you blended two med names with Oxycontin MS...Oxycontin is a med all by itself..It is Oxycodone in Continuous formula...hence the "contin"....MS usually stands for Morphine Sulfate and comes in both IR (immediate release) or ER (extended release formulas)... If it is a 12 hour version...then usually most Drs. are ok with dosing it every 8 hours..
1366202 tn?1277990898 Dexamethasone will have a lot of side effects. You do need to talk to your doc - but it will interfere with your sleep. Dex is a corticosteroid - a powerful one - and taking it will reduce your immune system as well as your inflammatory responses. The anxiety is from the med - you may be getting a bit of Cushing's syndrome with your meds. I would speak to the doc about lessening the meds a tad bit or spreading them out.
Avatar f tn I was taking the max of percocet, and they could have upped my Oxycontin, but I was open to the change to the stronger meds, and they were VERY successful for me, and had fewer side effects also! There are other medications that you could possibly be switched to also, besides the Hydromorph Contin and Dilaudid----or depending on your current prescription, your dosages may be adjusted. So....
737319 tn?1232048945 I was hoping someone could maybe help me here. I have been a pain patient for 8 years. I have been dx with osteopinea and do have tests that show degeneration in my cervical, thoracic, lumbar and rt leg. My insurance covered my pain meds, oxycontin 20mg as long as it was generic. When no generic was available, they suggested Methadone or Fentynal. My dr gave me methadone, I chose not to fill it and get my insurance switched over to what was working for me.
