Oxycontin reformulation

Common Questions and Answers about Oxycontin reformulation

oxycontin

Avatar m tn when i could not find oxycontin i would take opana er 40mg. opana(oxymorphone) is about twice as potent as oxycodone. they are rather new i believe they came out in 2002?
Avatar f tn No....oxycontin is time released. If you cut it in half you take away the time release quality of it. If you are tapering off you need to get with your doctor and half him/her prescribed the 10mgs oxy. After that your doctor will probably drop you to regular oxycodone so you can continue tapering. Never cut a time released medication.
Avatar f tn When Purdue Pharma reformulated the pill and renamed it Oxycontin OP, that extended the patent on Oxycontin. Purdue Pharma won the lawsuit and all the generic manufacturers that were producing Oxycontin had to exit the market. A similar scenario happened with Opana ER. Endo Pharmaceuticals reformulated Opana ER so that it couldn't be crushed and snorted. When they did that, it extended their patent for at least another 10 years.
596605 tn?1369946627 It should not be called OxyContin. It is as mechanically different from the drug that has been known as OxyContin for the past 15 years as either drug is to Proladone. Purdue pulled a huge win with the FDA over this. They waited until just before they were about to lose the ability to sue over patent infringement to submit a carefully worded application for a newly patented drug that would still be called OxyContin.
Avatar n tn Before that, she had been on 2 grains of Armour, but forced to switch due to reformulation of Armour brand and sudden hypo symptoms with a drop in t4 that Armour reformulation caused her. Before going with dessicated thyroid 8 months ago however ,she was on 100mcg Synthroid daily.

Avatar n tn An option here called ERFA, while initially touted to be a great alternative, has now had a reformulation that has had endless adverse effects. Research has brought up two alternatives, both combinations of t4/T3 called Euthyral or Novothyral. Has anyone heard of them? Bigger question, can anyone at all, private message me, with a way to order through an online pharmacy? I fought too hard to feel normal, to return to generic medications that will make me ill.
Avatar f tn Thanks, Gimel...After I posted that I realized Armour was probably all that was left. I crashed on that back in it's reformulation days just over 10 years ago so I'm a little afraid (the fillers also) I'm not really sure what a T#/T4 generic even is but I'll check it out! I'm wondering how folks on Armour these days are doing on it. Med changes are the worst! Thank you!
Avatar f tn Many people who stayed with Armour after the reformulation of their product's fillers/binders about a year ago noticed the return of hypothyroid symptoms (fatigue, joint pain, hairloss etc.) and a much lower t4 level then they had on Armour before reformulation. Many changed to Nature-Throid which is the other desiccated med available in the US. most did well on this but unfortunatly the formula for this med was recently changed to in a similar way this spring.
Avatar f tn Hi all. I'm new here and confused. I have been hypo for over twenty years due to RAI (Grave's), and lately things are getting messed up. Actually, since the 2009 reformulation of Armour have I started feeling so damn awful. I bounced around with Westhroid, back to Armour, then Synthroid for awhile, then back. A year ago when I was pregnant my TSH was 38 - so I had swung very hypo.
7463086 tn?1391008763 However I do think the latter is significantly lessened with vigilant injection site rotation. And now with the reformulation meaning fewer than half of the injections in the first place, I imagine the risk goes down even further. Another reason the news you mention is great! There are loads of past and present users on here. I'm sure they'll stop by too.
1401696 tn?1280838616 Most people take dessicated (or anything with T3) 2 x per day. First thing in the morning is easy. Planning the second dose 1 hour before lunch or 4 hours after can be a challenge sometimes. Remember, It really takes 6 weeks or more for the full effect of a new med. What makes you feel good this week, could make you hyper the next if you dont know how a med works for you as far as dosing goes. Make sure free T3 and free T4 is tested while on NT.
Avatar f tn s out of favor at the moment due to reformulation quality issues), ERFA (from Canada), Nature Thyroid, and it can also be available from some compounding chemists. I take the erfa brand and I feel good. Way better than when I took thyroxine (t4 only med). Some people do better on this and some do fine on just T4 meds, another alternative is taking a T3 and a T4 med.
776302 tn?1241091853 I don't use Armour, but I know there are some on this forum that DO take it. I believe they ARE still making it, although there was a reformulation and it's been harder to get. I'm sure someone who's been using it, will be along soon to answer your question for sure.
Avatar m tn i agree with lostmakeupgirl. i also am a VALID PAIN MANAGEMENT PATIENT. i didn't think id become a junkie over oxycontin but i did. i didn't think id stoop to the lows i have done but i did. i also find it rude and non productive to tell addicts how selfish we are. and if you reread rhe post he/she is scared that we will be the reason the drug is pulled from his/her life. that is the start of addiction in itself. reread how focused fourfer is on that. and fourfer is uneducated.
Avatar m tn Is there anyone who has any tips for how to go through a bad oxycontin withdrawal? I am wondering if there are any specific foods, vitamins, activities etc. that will help shorten or relieve the inevitable withdrawals. I feel so foolish for ever getting myself addicted to these horrible things. It started when I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed years ago and the doctor gave me a prescription. Now I have been off an on them for years. I need to get my life back.
Avatar m tn Ive been taking about 100mgs of oxycontin a day for about 1.5 month now. What do i do? Quit cold turkey or taper off? I cannot take days off work.
Avatar f tn I just found out my son, 20 has been using oxycontin for 2years. He takes about 3 80mg. He is now barely functioning and takes them all during the day. We saw a doctor that wants to start him on suboxone. I am ovewrwhelmed and don't know what to do.
Avatar m tn If you want to use the Tylenol 3 to get off the oxycontin so that it is easier to quit the tylenol 3 rather than oxy, then yes that is a better plan and you would also be in less severe withdrawl by doing this.. But you do not want to try and replace that feeling you were getting from the oxy with tylenol 3 because no matter how much you take it will never make you feel as strong as the oxy either..
Avatar f tn I'm wondering if 1 oxycontin (80mg) that my BF gives me every day to assist in my wean will help me. I am having minimal WD signs but the physical pain for which I was initially prescribed 3 Dils (8mgs each) per day by the former doc comes roaring back every morning. I am no longer on the Dilaudids.
Avatar n tn is it normal when withdrawling from oxycontin to hallucinate? and how long until they stop?
