Oxycontin mg

Common Questions and Answers about Oxycontin mg

oxycontin

Avatar m tn Based on taking 15 mg of immediate release oxycodone every 5-6 hours, the optimal oxycontin dose is between 30 mg - 40 mg every 12 hours for a total of 60 mg - 80 mg of total oxycodone in 24 hours. Taking a 40 mg oxycontin every 12 hours would release about 3 mg of oxycodone every hour. Multiply the 3 mg of oxycodone by 5 hours and it equals 15 mg, which is roughly equivalent to the amount of immediate release oxycodone you were taking every 5-6 hours.
Avatar f tn What exactly is Oxycodone HCL 30 mg? My sister was getting 100 pills a week since Dec 2008 for this amount. Isn't this quite a bit for someone who has a bulging disk in her back? One week prior to her starting the 30 mgs, she was taking 15 mg @ 100 a week. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn When I convert your current dose of MS Contin into Oxycontin equivalent, you are taking 60 mg less of Oxycontin through the MS Contin. To get dosing equivalent to 120 mg of Oxycontin through administration of MS Contin, you should have been prescribed 180 mg of MS Contin based purely on the pharmacological conversion factor between Oxycontin and MS Contin as Oxycontin is 1.5 times stronger than MS Contin.
Avatar m tn They have me on 30 mg oxycontin, twice daily, 10/325 percocet 6 a day, soma 4 times daily and xanax 2 mg for anxiety. What are my options for the breakthrough pain, that is what I am taking the percocet for and I need to stop with the Tylenol already enough is enough. I talked with my doc last time I was there to see her, and this is when she switched me to the percocet from Vicoprofen, due to the fact that it was doing nothing for the pain.
Avatar f tn Hey my friend are you still actively using? I am not judging I just want to know where you are with all of this. So are you taking the pills for pain? You psted you are taking 160 mg/day that's not really a huge amount but again if youran addict 1/2 mg or any is too much. We can help you through this so please come back and talk to us. As far as the online chat your in it here.
Avatar f tn Morning Bree - Oxycontin is a strong opiate drug and it is a controlled release, so chewing the pill when you take it will release the whole dose all at one time. 80 mg is high enough to cause some discomfort if stopped cold turkey, 20 mg if taken long enough and tollerance is developed will cause withdrawal. I would reommend that if you are interested in stopping that you work on a taper plan to minimize withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar f tn Hi emmaless, Am I reading your post correctly that you were taking 80 mg of Oxycontin 3x per day and 40 mg of Oxycontin 3x per day? If yes, keep reading...LOL. I thought you wrote that you were taking 80 mg and 40mg total of Oxycontin per day. That is why my post to your other thread stated that you were on more medicine through Fentanyl than through Oxycontin. That is not the case if you taking the 80 mg and the 40 mg 3x per day. That is 120 mg x 3 or 360 mg of Oxycontin per day vs.
Avatar f tn I'm on so much medicine for my chronic pain and they are always changing it. A lot of times, I end up cutting my dose in half if I think I don't need as much but still need something. Okay, right now, before I had my coffee, I made a mistake. I cut 1/2 my oxycontin 40 mg. in half thinking it was my 30 mg, oxycodone. I had already taken my 40 mg. oxycontin at around 6 am like I'm supposed to. Went back to sleep and woke up to take my break through and accidently broke the 40 mg.
Avatar f tn When Purdue Pharma reformulated the pill and renamed it Oxycontin OP, that extended the patent on Oxycontin. Purdue Pharma won the lawsuit and all the generic manufacturers that were producing Oxycontin had to exit the market. A similar scenario happened with Opana ER. Endo Pharmaceuticals reformulated Opana ER so that it couldn't be crushed and snorted. When they did that, it extended their patent for at least another 10 years.
Avatar n tn My boyfriend and i were on 40-80 mg of oxycontin a day, sometimes a little more. We did this every single day for like 3 months, and before that we did them a couple times a week for the past year. We decided to quit cold turkey because of the amount of money we were spending. We are now on day 3 and feel nothing. The only withdraw symptoms we have experienced are being grouchy and tired. I have been in school and wor everyday and he works in the coa mines. Why are we not sick?
Avatar f tn I was taking 50mg.oyxcontin a.m. and 40 mg. p.m. I am down to 10 mg. now but I'm so tired. I was also taking Percocet for break thru pain 2-4 / day for about 2 years. The withdrawal hasn't been that bad. Sweats, a bit jittery but mostly fatigue and depression. I don't want to do anything. It's the fatigue that is driving me crazy. Thanks for your help.
725248 tn?1316162245 I am currently on 60 mg 3 times per day with 30 mg Oxycodone 3 times per day for breakthrough.I also have 4 mg Dilaudid and 200 mg Actiq pops for severe episodes.Oxycontin is a wonderful long term drug but the most important thing is to get the dosage correct. We build up a tolerance to the meds and the doctors must allow for that.Norco has absolutely no affect on my pain level.
Avatar f tn I just recently started taking OxyContin 10 mg not prescribed to me. I have been taking it 20 mg a day every second day for about a month now I have some bad digestive problems and was wondering if this is normal I have stopped taking it for two weeks and still have incredible pain in my intestines i've never taken more than 30 mg in a day?? Was wondering if it is caused by taking OxyContin or if it's an infection I have in my intestines?
Avatar f tn Hello all, I haven't posted for a long time. I was wondering the difference (strenghtwise) between oxy & hydromorphcontin ( long acting). I was on hydromorph last year and switched to oxycontin & oxy IR this spring in an attempt to keep overall dosages down. The oxy seemed to escalate quite rapidly vs increases needed when I was on hydromorph products. Which is stronger? Which is slower to build up tolerence to? Is it different for different people?
Avatar m tn The dose of MS Contin is not equivalent to your current dose of Oxycontin...by a long shot! Taking 15 mg of MS Contin 3x a day is equivalent to taking 10 mg of Oxycontin 3x a day. I hate when doctors sneak in a significant dose reduction through a conversion to another opioid! Even factoring in a cross tolerance factor, your dose should have been at least 30 mg 3x a day.
Avatar n tn I am currently taking 10 mg of oxycodone(w/o apap) 4x a day & 30 mg of oxycotin 3x a day. But the 30 mg oxycotin doesnt seem to be workin as before. Can I take roxicodone30 mg to replace the oxycotin along w/ the 10 mg oxycodone or are they the same,???
Avatar m tn Night, the only thing that can get you off of the oxys 100% is you. For me I was on 240 mg/day and 10 mg percs for breakthrough pain and I went CT. It was no picnic but I was out of the w/d nastys by day 6. I it up to you but I would just bite the bullet and go CT. If you do there are some remedies such as the Thomas Recipe and Amino Acid protocol which will help see you through.
Avatar m tn I have been prescibed 80mg oxycontin 2 X daily. It seemed like the miracle drug. I've been taking it for almost 2 yrs With the recent change in the fillers, it doesn't seem to work as well, or last as long. Also I have been breaking out in small blisters on my hands. My stomach also seems to be more upset than usual. I've been told that they didn't change the active ingredients. Could it be possible that I'm having an allergic reaction to the new fillers in the medication?
Avatar f tn t have a good plan on tapering but I do know that Oxycontin comes in 20 mg, 15 mg and 10 mg. Personally, I would do the oxycontin first, but that is just me. See if your doc can help you come up with a plan and help. I know you need to stabilize from one taper before starting the next one or at least I should have. I did do some tapering, but the length you have been on the pills and if it is for chronic pain all play into this.
4730743 tn?1358469813 2 months, and he currently has me on Verapamil ER 180 MG X1 daily, Nortriptyline 10 MG X1 @ bedtime, also Oxycodone/Acetaminophen 5/325 4X a day for break thru pain, as well as Oxycontin 10 mg ER 2X a day. I have taken all of these meds for the last month, with little sucess of relief. Unfort. I have had to take both of my pain medications everyday the last month. My question is about tolerance.
