Hate to break it to you bro but lithe formula has been changed for a while. Before I quit I was buying them. They are still desirable but you are right about them losing popularity. It will likely cause some folks to throw in the towel and quit and others will continue on. I really hope to see less people in the future in a huge mess of addiction.
actually it is oxycodone that is the main ingredient... oxycontin is a brand name, means oxycodone continuous release (i think).
oxycontin is usually higer mg of the oxycodone because it has the extended release which is why addicts usually crush & snort or chew them to bypass that. it is true that percocet has more apap than the oxycontin or roxicodone but as far as the main ingredient 6 perc 5's are the same as a roxi 30 or 4 perc 10's are the same as an oxy 40.
I need a good taper plan to get off oxycontin using percocets and hopefully from someone who can give me some support, it would be greatly appreciated

I have a sponsee that has been taking lots of oxycontin for years. He has gone to addictionologists and also heard elsewhere that if he goes cold turkey off of oxy then he could die.
His transition plan is to take subutex but thinks he needs to take it for years to keep from dying.
Obviously, with 18 years clean I have never taken the stuff and do not want to advise as if I were a doctor. I definitely dont want to be responsible for killing him.
My question is, can you die from cold turkey?

I am normally on the addiction forums due to being given an addictive drug by my doctor, called Oxycontin. Due to this I have an aversion to drugs in general and being somewhat paranoid since the oxycontin episode have taken on a skeptical attitude where all drugs are concerned.
I have a knot in my back 1" by 5" next to my shoulder blade on my left side. I have had it for 6 months, I have tried massages, hot showers, heat & cold packs. My mother passed away from cancer in July she gave me oxycontin 80mg, and oxycode 30mg. that seems to be the only thing that has taken away the severe pain. I tried muscle relaxer they made me tired. I have tried nerve pills they dont work. I'm very active in my business. I can finally be pain free.
John, I can't emphasize enough that surgery be your absolute last resort. I had a 4 Level Laminectomy 7/07/04 and from the 7th day after surgery lying in the back seat of a neigbors car going to see the surgeon. The pain from that day was 3 times prior to surgery when I was taking Percoset 10/325 (4) times a day. Today the pain has completely encompassed my whole lower body waist down Lumbar, Hips, Buttox, Legs and yes Abdomen.
im curious what happened to John (99% sure thats his name) his pic was of him in a suit, and he was from texas. he always added humor to the board, i remember he was clean for awhile and relapsed came back to the board right after. he was always here to post, and i havent seen him in weeks or maybe more, some of you that have been here awhile should remember him, newbies wouldnt.. does anyone know? thanks..

It seems that your body is telling you that it can not handle the abuse anymore. You did not specify what kind of pain you are having, but if it is difficult for you to breath, it may be your chest. Cocaine causes constriction of all blood vessels including those in your heart and lungs. That leads to diminished blood supply to your heart muscle as the drug also causes it to beat faster and harder causing possible ischemia.
I would like treatment if possible with people that have problems with percocet,oxycontin,tramadol etc.If they say an addict is an addict say,yes.Although i would like my specific question dealt with,and i am, not being rude.I would just at first feel more comfortable in that format.Give it a try.
I have seen other posts where people were on both drugs and said it worked great. I hope there is someone who could give advise.
Really need a little help. I have been using Oxycontin for almost 2 years now and have wanted to stop soo bad. I was using between 200-300mgs.a day. Had a friend give me some methadone a while back and began to use only when I couldn't find anymore Oxy using on and off in small doses 1-2 10 mg. tablets. I finally built the strength to get off the opiates and have not used Oxy for 8 days now. Since I've never seen a doctor I know very little about methadone or how to use it.

ive been on oxycodone(oxycontin CR) for 6 years , 80mg 2x daily now for 3 years , and this is just not controlling my pain . Is the opana er a reasonable choice if i was to begin a different med for chronic pain relief from several back/spinal conditions which continue to worsen year after year? And what is the exchange rate for oxycontin 80 mg cr to opana er ?
i agree with lostmakeupgirl. i also am a VALID PAIN MANAGEMENT PATIENT. i didn't think id become a junkie over oxycontin but i did. i didn't think id stoop to the lows i have done but i did. i also find it rude and non productive to tell addicts how selfish we are. and if you reread rhe post he/she is scared that we will be the reason the drug is pulled from his/her life. that is the start of addiction in itself. reread how focused fourfer is on that. and fourfer is uneducated.
Is there anyone who has any tips for how to go through a bad oxycontin withdrawal? I am wondering if there are any specific foods, vitamins, activities etc. that will help shorten or relieve the inevitable withdrawals. I feel so foolish for ever getting myself addicted to these horrible things. It started when I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed years ago and the doctor gave me a prescription. Now I have been off an on them for years. I need to get my life back.
Ive been taking about 100mgs of oxycontin a day for about 1.5 month now. What do i do? Quit cold turkey or taper off? I cannot take days off work.
I just found out my son, 20 has been using oxycontin for 2years. He takes about 3 80mg. He is now barely functioning and takes them all during the day. We saw a doctor that wants to start him on suboxone. I am ovewrwhelmed and don't know what to do.
If you want to use the Tylenol 3 to get off the oxycontin so that it is easier to quit the tylenol 3 rather than oxy, then yes that is a better plan and you would also be in less severe withdrawl by doing this.. But you do not want to try and replace that feeling you were getting from the oxy with tylenol 3 because no matter how much you take it will never make you feel as strong as the oxy either..
