Avatar f tn GENERIC NAME: oxycodone. BRAND NAMES: Oxycontin In case someone was unaware of the names.
Avatar m tn Here in Canada oxy has been causing changes in just about every law concerning the drug. Robberies of pharmacies is fast becoming an epidemic. Up to now there has been only one death attributed to the robberies but at the rate it is going it may not be the last. When I mentioned that even though I was addicted completely to Oxy although I had only been on it for a month I was pretty much humphed at by one who will remain nameless.
Avatar f tn I can not take oxycodone with acetemetaphine due to head aches and the oxycodone pill form gives me the bad mood changes. What about the oxycodone capsule? I have to go to the doctors in a couple of hours and think I may ask her about the capsules but I'd like to hear some input.
Avatar n tn If you can cut down by 10-20% at a time it won't be so bad. I don't think you can do that with Oxycontin unless the doctor changes the dose for you everytime you reduce, unless you are chewing the pills. If you have already been cutting or chewing the pills you can try to reduce the amount every couple of days, or everyday if you can handle that if wd's aren't too bad and you should be okay. You will still have some wd's but they won't be near as bad.
Avatar m tn I was addicted to Oxycontin for over a year, and 3 months ago I faced my addiction and went through Detox and Rehab, with much support from my family and friends. I am back to work, avoiding all triggers, and have gained weight, and feel like I am getting stronger. I do have incredible body aches, and have taken ibuprofen to help, but its not really helping. I was wondering if anyone out there has experienced these body aches, and what are you doing to help it?
Avatar f tn My husband started taking oxycontin when he had his first neck operation, has had more neck surgery, 2 knee replacements, and shoulder replacement . He is now on 10mg pills, X3 every 12 hours and crushes and eats at least one per day. Also has RX for oxycodone for break thu pain. He doesn't think he is addicted and and is toying with the idea of getting off the pills because I said I think that the pills are frying his brain.
Avatar n tn question is how to get my doc to understand? I was told that i should be on Oxycontin with no acetaminophen stuff...help??? I know it wont take the pain away...I'm just looking to be able to "deal" with it...but I understand that I'm digesting way too much Tylenol stuff???
1151955 tn?1262643533 m afraid of the mood changes and dealing with my Anxiety right now, I dont think i could physically and/or mentally afford it. So again. I'm just taking my Norco.
Avatar n tn Im on oxycodone 40mg daily and fentanyl patches 50mcg plus 20mg oxycontin before bed, i have REDUCED everything and now just taking the patch and the oxycontin (during the day when i feel bad) i feel lethargic. If I taper down will my body get used to the new dose and the withdrawal go or will the withdrawal only stop once i have truly stopped everything ? My plan was to lower the drugs then when my body gets used to the new dose and i feel normal then to lower some more...
Avatar n tn I take OxyContin for pain, and Xanax for anxiety. The Oxycontin is for severe muscle aches in my legs and arms in the 3-5 days following chemotherapy, and i take it periodicallly in very small dosages (.05 a day) in the second week for pain. I am also on estrodil .05. I have developed strange and scary symptoms during chemotherapy. I have chest pressure and pain (center of chest), and pressure in my abdomen. It has become difficult to even wear a bra.
Avatar n tn Thank you, That relieves a lot of stress we have all been going thru....
Avatar f tn Well, I did a lot of reading and thinking this weekend. And after all that, I've decided (and sent an email) to talk to the NP at the pain clinic about switching me over to a long-acting medication for my pain. I'm thinking it will give me better relief. Even though I'm on a high dose now (45 mg. every 4 hours of oxycodone,) my pain seems to return after 2 to 3 hours.
Avatar m tn i agree with lostmakeupgirl. i also am a VALID PAIN MANAGEMENT PATIENT. i didn't think id become a junkie over oxycontin but i did. i didn't think id stoop to the lows i have done but i did. i also find it rude and non productive to tell addicts how selfish we are. and if you reread rhe post he/she is scared that we will be the reason the drug is pulled from his/her life. that is the start of addiction in itself. reread how focused fourfer is on that. and fourfer is uneducated.
Avatar m tn Is there anyone who has any tips for how to go through a bad oxycontin withdrawal? I am wondering if there are any specific foods, vitamins, activities etc. that will help shorten or relieve the inevitable withdrawals. I feel so foolish for ever getting myself addicted to these horrible things. It started when I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed years ago and the doctor gave me a prescription. Now I have been off an on them for years. I need to get my life back.
Avatar m tn Ive been taking about 100mgs of oxycontin a day for about 1.5 month now. What do i do? Quit cold turkey or taper off? I cannot take days off work.
Avatar f tn I just found out my son, 20 has been using oxycontin for 2years. He takes about 3 80mg. He is now barely functioning and takes them all during the day. We saw a doctor that wants to start him on suboxone. I am ovewrwhelmed and don't know what to do.
Avatar m tn If you want to use the Tylenol 3 to get off the oxycontin so that it is easier to quit the tylenol 3 rather than oxy, then yes that is a better plan and you would also be in less severe withdrawl by doing this.. But you do not want to try and replace that feeling you were getting from the oxy with tylenol 3 because no matter how much you take it will never make you feel as strong as the oxy either..
Avatar f tn I'm wondering if 1 oxycontin (80mg) that my BF gives me every day to assist in my wean will help me. I am having minimal WD signs but the physical pain for which I was initially prescribed 3 Dils (8mgs each) per day by the former doc comes roaring back every morning. I am no longer on the Dilaudids.
Avatar n tn is it normal when withdrawling from oxycontin to hallucinate? and how long until they stop?
460825 tn?1206476403 m 25 and been abusing Oxycontin's for 6 years now. I have tried to cold turkey it several and i mean several times in the past few years, and now i have a 2 year old daughter and a fiance' (which i can say is totally agenst the abuse of medications, pot, alcohol ect...) but what she doesn't understand is why i relaps so much when tryin' to get off these drugs. I feel so alone, and that no one understands me.
