oxycontin and sleeping pills

I took all kinds of sleeping pills etc. and I still would only manage 3-4 hours sleep a night. After my doc. got my manic under control, I had the worst fibro pain I've ever had. I've tried Lyrica and Neurontin years ago and they didn' t help much and I didn't like the side effects. This week, during this flare, my doc put me on Oxycontin. It helped the leg pain but it made me so nauseaous that it took me two days to get my stomach back to normal.

So I waited it out for about a week and things got worse. I decided to go back and see a different doctor and she perscribed me paxil for anxiety and xanax .5mg to help me sleep if I need it. I have trouble sleepings but after reading about xanax im not sure if I want to start taking it. I started te paxil yesterday and took 1 xanax last night and felt great but still did not fall asleep until about 5:30am. Took the xanax around 8:30pm.

or should I just go cold turkey and suffer? I am also on Soma, Gabpentin and sleeping pills. I need some advice to detox myself with less pain as possible. Thank you so much if you respond to me.

Will clonidine help me with withdrawal ? I have had 5 operations on my hip and have been prescribed oxycontin and hydromorphine for over a year. I tried getting off them but can't do it as the symtoms are terrible..Will clonidine help me? My medical dr has prescribed them to me and I havent tried them yet as I need some input on them.

Anyway, to get to the problem. Prior to being on the oxycontin my husband always had problems in sleeping, and over the last couple of years of being on this drug the insomnia has gotten much worse. This was until about a week ago, we mentioned the problem to our GP and he prescribed him 2 25mg of Amitriplyne each night to help him. Trouble is now the problem is the opposite, this last week he has done nothing but sleep!! He can sleep for 12-14 hours straight and still be tired.

I've been on oxycontin for about two years for pain. I've since had surgery and am coming off them now. I was doing 40mg 3 times a day. My Doctor told me to cut down gradually. So i'm doing 30mg for a week then 20mg for a week 10mg etc. I'm surprisingly still feeling a bit uncomfortable though. My main complaints would be lack of sleeping soundly or for 7-8 hours straight. I seem to sleep for 2-3 hours then i'm wide awake. Also I just feel like I can't fully relax.

I know what you're saying. I quit drinking and smoking cigarettes about 15 years ago. I spent about 25 years Bartending, and saw enough of what people do when drunk. It is the worst drug ever (alcohol). Pills, YEAH! I know all about all kinds of pills that give all kinds of thrills, and now look, I'm an Oxycontin Addict. I get Valium, but rarely, if ever take one. Trazadone, in my opinion, is the best sleep aid out there. It's an antidepressent, but in 150mg. and up.

i had knee surgery at end of Dec. and am just now coming off the pain pills and am going nuts. I'm sure its the percocet but am alittle confused about the difference between Percocet and the oxycontin as they both have said....OXYCODONE... on the label is the oxy just a time release percocet?

Now he snorts Valiums, yellow 2mg. and blue which I believe is the 10mg. and also Ativan and also extended re-lease orange Oxycontin, from what I have observed. He goes into fits of rage and anger when he does not have these on hand in a box. He smokes one cigarette after another after ingesting all this. He recently went to a local Mental Health facility and told them he was having anxiety and panic disorders, which I know is not true at all.

I haven't taken sleeping pills but I have taken 2 tylenols and bedtime chamomile tea on nights where I'm in really bad pain and can't sleep. My doctor said that was ok. I take the tylenols first and wait 20 to take the tea :) it helps me.

my mom takes the same dose and has for years and she can still fall asleep with the one pill. i am taking upwards of 30 mg. at night and want to go down to 10 mg. see my mom gets a little loopy and i have to put her to bed because she can barely keep her eyes open and she mumbles things, which i've read are all normal.but for me this doesn't happen. i don't know what i need to do to achieve these results with only 10 mg. of ambien.

Since long I am taking sleeping pills, xynex 1 mg and Ambien 5 mg. Now i had to add antihistamine Livicitrezine for itching problem. This drug has central action. As i had to go twice or thrice to bath room, my sleep is always distrurbed. I am not having prostate or bladder problem. I am having disturbed sleep and in addition i dream deeply. Many a time it takes a while to know whether it is a dream or it is a reality.

So my question.... Have any of you gone down the road of sleeping pills? Do they work? Do I even go ahead and give these to him????? Thanks in advance for your help. Jackie.

Unison and benadryl are both good for sleeping... They are both very safe and actually both used in pregnancy to help reduce morning sickness as well.

Anyone else dealing with an addiction to sleeping pills? The doctors have put me on any and every kind of sleeping pill....the only thing that worked was ambien xr but now thats not even working so I am taking a store bought sleeping pill, ambien and clonazapam all at once...I mix it up each night but I am taking way more than I should or that is prescribed. I can't sleep well without them tho but I can't really sleep with them either since they don't work well anymore....

I've been going through a really rough time and I feel myself falling into depression. I cant sleep and its not due to the pregnancy. I'm use to always sleeping with someone and I dont get to sleep with them anymore. Do u think a dr would prescribe me something? I'm so tired!

what kind of sleeping pills are you taking? some here have been addict to sleeping pills...maybe they can help ya. let us know what kind and how many...

I forgot what my doctor told me but is taking sleeping pills OK if it's only once in a blue moon?

I've Been really restless lately. My body is exhausted & so are my eyes but they just won't stay shut. I haven't slept in 3days & I'm cranky. So I'm wondering if sleeping pills are safe during pregnancy???

m right and these headaches are being caused by the analgesics the only solution I see here is to somehow wean totally off the oxycontin. The bone and muscle pain is unbearable and I cannot walk without the oxycontin but the headaches incapacitate me too. I don't want to simply exist. I want to participate in life.

so i usually take 120mg or more og oxycontin but i went through the whole weekdn with only 60mgs. sleeping was hard and i have some really really bad anxiety. i think the anxiety is the worse. like i can barely function my heart is racing and i cant seem to keep still and my mind just keeps wanderign and htinking about horrible things. what can i do about this anxiety? should i get some anxiety medsa?

I have osteoarthritis (degenerative) spondylosis, IBS, high chloesterol and take Lipitor, Oxycontin 20mg and on bad days I have to take 10mg of percoset or the equivilent. the other day, it was cold, damp and I could not get a handle on my pain at all. I took more than usual, but I don't over due. I finally got home and got on the heating pad ALL night. Do I feel I am addicted, no.......I try not to take pain pills unless I need them. summer is better than winter.
