oxycontin

3060236 tn?1340594292 I just found out that I have cancer and will need a hysterectomy in a dew days. The oncologist put me on 30mg of Oxycontin OP a week ago while I get the suboxone out of my system. I need it out of my system in order to be treated for pain. (I had a C- section on subutex and it was HELL!!! ) Needless to say, The doc first out me on 30mg of morphine ER and it did not do much , I still had some withdrawl symptoms. I feel much better on the Oxycontin OP and do not feel "high" at all.
655875 tn?1295695107 s. What was the amount of oxycontin OP that you were on and what is the dose of mscontin that you are on now? If you are afraid of a stomach ulcer you DEFINITELY need to make an appointment with your PCP and start having tests run. an Ulcer is NOTHING to mess with. My Dad had a bleeding Ulcer when I was 20 and her ALMOST died. He spent 2 WEEKS in ICU and took 18 units of blood to get it under control. PLEASE don't mess around IF you think that is what is going on with you!!!
Avatar n tn as possible to allow me to do post-op physical therapy. One alternative would be to be sick for 24hr and go back on suboxone, but would really like to quit the Suboxone at this time, too; as I am very involved in my recovery; NA, steps, sponsor etc. and don't really need it anymore. Ideas?
Avatar m tn What about taking the oxycodone (oxycontin) every 12 hours....it is a long acting extended release medication....and then use an instant release form of oxycodone like percocet every 4-6 hours for breakthrough pain. The 2 medications are frequently used together for pain management. I hope by now that something has been found that is working.
Avatar m tn lostmakeupgirl. don't take your opinion back...i mean it. and everyone knows oxycontin was designed for terminal patients in the beginning. and if you need oxycontin to get thru your day. i think you dependant. and what's the difference from dependant than addiction? a word. a word. you'll still go thru detox and withdralwls. 99% is just ignorant. obviously this person needs to justify their use. this person just posted and ran. come out come out wherever you are fourfer.
Avatar f tn Hi emmaless, Am I reading your post correctly that you were taking 80 mg of Oxycontin 3x per day and 40 mg of Oxycontin 3x per day? If yes, keep reading...LOL. I thought you wrote that you were taking 80 mg and 40mg total of Oxycontin per day. That is why my post to your other thread stated that you were on more medicine through Fentanyl than through Oxycontin. That is not the case if you taking the 80 mg and the 40 mg 3x per day. That is 120 mg x 3 or 360 mg of Oxycontin per day vs.
137307 tn?1330973997 and as I have mentioned many times ( sorry for repeating myself) But, I did see improvement even from 1 yr post op to 2 yrs post op....so, u have to go slow and be patient...and just allow urself to heal...it is hard to wait and just sit and see things u want to do or feel u should be doing...forget that stuff and u will be fine...we all need blinders. Good luck with the oxycontin, I developed an allergy to it with a surgery I had just b4 my decompression, so I could not take it.....
Avatar f tn I was also on amityiptyline, ambien, and a rare xanax. I had been on oxycontin since 2002 for lyme disease but was off completely a month before surgery. I was on vicoden for the post-op pain for the first surgery. I did fine after the first surgery except for a cough and pain in my neck. The second surgery, a skin graft, was more painful. The lortab and tramadol the plastic surgeon gave didn't work. The fifth day post-op I went back on oxycontin short term for the bad pain.
Avatar f tn They gave me my regular doses of Oxycontin and Percocet post-op and IV Morphine--which helped with the additional pain. Shortly after the surgery, I was switched to Hydromorph Contin for extended release, and Dilaudid for breakthrough because the Oxycontin and Percocet were not sufficient. I was taking the max of percocet, and they could have upped my Oxycontin, but I was open to the change to the stronger meds, and they were VERY successful for me, and had fewer side effects also!
Avatar f tn It was a pretty bad knee and I had the oxycontin/endone for about three weeks. I suffered badly with the withdrawal and four plus weeks post op went to my general practitioner and said I wanted something for the pain, but without side effects or constipation. She recommended panadol osteo, which is strong panadol and timed release. Not magic but a great help as long as I keep taking eight hourly. I wish someone had told me about this earlier.
Avatar n tn Are you referring to oxycodone or oxycontin? I honestly haven't looked, but I have felt like my medication wasn't working as well. I suppose I should look. I don't know what to do when that happens, though.
Avatar f tn Oh gees! I didn't know you had replied to my post about this. I'm so sorry I never replied to you. I do appreciate what you wrote, so thanks. I'm off Tramadol and feel terrific, mentally. No anxiety whatsoever since I stopped it on the 11th April. Weaning off valium & zopiclone now. Next will be the Oxycontin, hopefully, as it doesn't seem to help my arthritis pain much, but it does a little, I guess. I'll wait and see, as I'll have to get off valium first.
Avatar f tn I have numbness to both feet and some in lower legs now. I am prescribed Oxycontin 40 twice a day and Panadeine forte BT and Oxycodone 20mgs 3rd hourly. I have worsening pain to the area of surgery and now can only find pain relief laying down. If I go walking or standing for too long the pain is unbearable. Am I on a very high pain relief regime?
Avatar f tn Just for general info, there may still be some of the original oxycontins out there (stamped "OC") but I suspect most are gone now and replaced with the reformulated "OP" stamped oxycontin...The new one's that caused allergic reactions with me and a few other's in here..Them doing that was probably a blessing in disguise as had they not been changed, I probably would still be having them prescribed and never quit.
Avatar m tn I need answers!, i swallowed 56 x 10mg oxycontin, 56 x 20mg oxycontin, 84 x 30mg clonazepam, and roughly 60 x 30mg duloxetine, this was on aug 13th 2010.....i'm still here...wtf !....how can my body deal with such a high amount of drugs......my doc seems to think they stuck in my gullet and did not get absorbed........this is an insult to my intelligence !.......can you please provide answers please.
1040628 tn?1268654906 You should be treated by your free t4 and free t3. Otherwise you have NO idea if you are on enough T3 or too much, and same with the T4. Maybe I would suggest finding a thyroid specialist who understands and knows that the Free's are the actual active thyroid hormone in the body. TSH is a pituitary function test. Kind of scary that this Dr has you on both meds but doesn't understand the importance of proper tests and results.
491984 tn?1463398730 My best suggestion is if you are having issue with the med is to contact your prescribing doctor and let them be aware-if its a something severe you can also contact Purdue as they have a complaint forum and the FDA does also-Purdue requires you to contact pharm and get lot and ID# for meds to list with complaint. If you google this you will find you are not the only one by far.
1331804 tn?1336867358 But I am wondering if the Oxycontin OP will still be better than the morphine. I am hoping someone has gone through this switch and can tell me if their pain got better or worse. Otherwise, I guess I won't know until I get to that road. Any responses at all will be very much appreciated. Thanks so much!
473384 tn?1210206242 today I am pretty much out of the oxy IR and so today got some oxycontin 20mgs 3X/day, and will use those with percs and then down to vics as I progress through the post-op period. I can't believe how much I liked the oxy IR and how much I loved taking them every 3 hours, and with permission! I was wrecked for this last week.
Avatar n tn I have a sponsee that has been taking lots of oxycontin for years. He has gone to addictionologists and also heard elsewhere that if he goes cold turkey off of oxy then he could die. His transition plan is to take subutex but thinks he needs to take it for years to keep from dying. Obviously, with 18 years clean I have never taken the stuff and do not want to advise as if I were a doctor. I definitely dont want to be responsible for killing him. My question is, can you die from cold turkey?
Avatar f tn When Purdue Pharma reformulated the pill and renamed it Oxycontin OP, that extended the patent on Oxycontin. Purdue Pharma won the lawsuit and all the generic manufacturers that were producing Oxycontin had to exit the market. A similar scenario happened with Opana ER. Endo Pharmaceuticals reformulated Opana ER so that it couldn't be crushed and snorted. When they did that, it extended their patent for at least another 10 years.
954005 tn?1304626605 ve just about reached my threshold with percocet and oxycontin. I am getting no real pain relief, and the doctor said that the next step would be to switch to dilaudid and hydromorphone. I'm wondering if I will experience withdrawals from my current meds when I switch? A little background to help...I suffered a great fall Dec 25, 2007 and crushed my tailbone.
Avatar m tn The hospital staff said I neede to stop all blood thinnig drugs (aspirin, fish oil, advil, etc) but did not say anything about pain mends (Oxycontin 4mg 2x day and Norco for the breakthrough pain (10 - 50 mg per day depending) Can I take the pain meds right up to the surgery?
Avatar m tn you name it, I have been compliant and done what has been asked of me in every regard. OxyContin and Oxycodone in combination Zanax XR, Cymbalta®, Soma, Lyrica®, Lisinopril HCTZ, Lidoderm® patch has been the best combination to control my pain. In late 2011, my pain became much more intense. At this time, I was prescribed, 240 mg of OxyContin/day and 45 mg Oxycodone/day in combination with all other meds mentioned.
5312547 tn?1367094865 t as strong and also has acetominophen in it so make sure not to take Tylenol in any other form. Oxycodone and OxyContin are essentially the same drug and have no Tylenol in them. OxyContin is a time relealse and is usually taken twice a day. Usuallymanother med is given for breakthrough pain. All of these drugs will case physical dependence and in some people can lead to addiction.
