I was taking 50mg.oyxcontin a.m. and 40 mg. p.m. I am down to 10 mg. now but I'm so tired. I was also taking Percocet for break thru pain 2-4 / day for about 2 years. The withdrawal hasn't been that bad. Sweats, a bit jittery but mostly fatigue and depression. I don't want to do anything. It's the fatigue that is driving me crazy. Thanks for your help.
It may also be that your blood pressure rises a bit as the sedation from the Oxycontin wears off. People with tinnitus often experience it as being louder, and even roaring, when their blood pressure is up or they are feeling rather anxious.
I don't KNOW that any of this applies to you, at least it's one possibility to consider.
By the way, it's great that your pain has improved, and also that you've made the decision to taper your use of Oxycontin.

Did anyone out there see the documentary on TV last night called the Oxycontin Express? I was an eye-opening documentary about how so many people are overdosing and getting arrested for purchasing Oxy's from pain clinics in Florida and reselling them where they live. It was scary to hear the statistic that almost 90% of all Oxy's prescribed are coming from pain clinics in Florida that just prescribe pain pills, zanex, valium, and other hard to get drugs.
I have told people over and over about my experiences with ambien (sleep driving, sleep eating, and hair loss). It made me lose all grips on reality. It also destroyed me physicall and mentally. I wished I would have never heard of the c r a p. I have been clean from it for 6 months and I hope I never experience anything like it again. It was my fault because I wasn't taking it as prescribed. Whatever you do, only take one at bedtime.
m right and these headaches are being caused by the analgesics the only solution I see here is to somehow wean totally off the oxycontin. The bone and muscle pain is unbearable and I cannot walk without the oxycontin but the headaches incapacitate me too. I don't want to simply exist. I want to participate in life.
I was taking 30mg of Oxycodone 3 times a day and 40mg Oxycontin once at night. I have 10mg Percocet for breakthrough pain. I began tapering off by reducing the dose by 2.5mg per dose (3 times a day) every 7 days. This doesn't work for the Oxycontin so I am combining a 20mg Oxycontin tablet with the short acting Oxycodone. The only withdrawal symptom I have noticed so far is that I am a bit tired. Nothing more. To date, I am down to 22.5mg 4 times a day.
They put me on lots of pain meds including morphine, percocet and oxycontin. I am home and have to go to PT twice weekly which is quite painful. I went to my surgeon on 11/2 and he said to wean off of oxycontin and oxycodone. He didn't explain how to go about that. My husband cut the oxycontin in half and I took that once at night and once in the morning for 3 days. When I thought about the next steps to get off the oxycodone, I thought to call the pharmacy for advice.
I'm 20 years old and recently had a motorbike accident that put me into hospital for 7 months, requiring 11 operations. I burst my liver and it became complicated. I've been taking OxyContin (40mil x2 daily) for the 7 months.
The pain is gone. I don't suffer at all, but I can't get off OxyContin. I had no idea what the drug was like, so I just kept taking them even though I probably could have lived with the pain after 5 months.
all because the discs in my neck have narrowed and small pieces of bone are jammed in between the nerves and spinal column....and because of this i'm going to lose the use of my arms.
I know you are suffering it as well, but to understand my pain, take your pain and multiply it by 50.......this is why i took all these meds and this is why i seriously need answers.
Accidentally overdosed on oxycontin. Was in alot of pain and took too many. Coming down from the high dose to my usual dose was horrendous. It was a week from hell. Had alot of anxiety, restlessness and agitation. Also was vomiting alot. Having a bad urinary infection didnt help matters. Couldn't sit still. Had to be on the move all the time. Couldn't eat, sleep. bath, shave or brush my teeth. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
With that being said, my family member decided to get off the pain pills and has been able to so far control her pain with diet and exercise. She lost a lot of weight, began eating healthy and exercising.
How old are you? How progressed is your disease? If you do decide to quit, I urge you to get with your pain management doctor to devise a taper plan and possibly try some non narcotic things to keep your pain under control.
