Common Questions and Answers about Oxycontin and caffeine

oxycontin

Avatar n tn I am 33 weeks pregnant and have been taking oxycontin and roxicodone on and off my pregnancy . I take no more then 2-3 pills in a day and they are 20mg . I do not chew them snort them or shoot it up. I do not smoke or consume any other illegal drugs( besides large doses of caffeine lol). I can go a couple of weeks without them and have no withdrawals just the craving. My question is if I stopped using 6 weeks prior to delivery will my baby still show signs of addiction?

5789554 tn?1391017083 One regular excedrine has a safe amount of caffeine. They wanted to give me vicodine and oxycontin for the headaches but I said no thanks. So I researched and found excedrine was ok.
Avatar m tn About two and a half months ago we were partying and I had been drinking. My friend offered me some oxycontin powder and I took some. Within about 30 min I had a full blown panic attack thinking I was dieing. Now I am also sensitive to caffeine and had a Diet Pepsi Max that night. The few days after I was back to dieting and taking stacker 3's and aspirin and had some over the next few days. I quite that regiment and was fine.
Avatar m tn My tolerance level was high and the pain was horrible, as a result I was prescribed 30 mg 4x per day and this time the dosage wasn't too strong. Since that time with the help of my physician, I am on the week of weening down to 2x per day 30mg then the next day 1x per day 30mg. This one day is kicking my but, I just seriously struggled to make it until 4pm to take the one dosage. By Sunday I will be on one 30mg per day for 7 days.
Avatar f tn The best thing you can do is take good care of yourself, eat healthy food, stay hydrated, keep active and busy. Stay away from sugar, soda, and simple carbs. Do not consume caffeine at least 6 hours prior to bedtime. You will be feeling better before you know it. Best wishes to you.
Avatar m tn The hospital staff said I neede to stop all blood thinnig drugs (aspirin, fish oil, advil, etc) but did not say anything about pain mends (Oxycontin 4mg 2x day and Norco for the breakthrough pain (10 - 50 mg per day depending) Can I take the pain meds right up to the surgery?
5312547 tn?1367094865 t as strong and also has acetominophen in it so make sure not to take Tylenol in any other form. Oxycodone and OxyContin are essentially the same drug and have no Tylenol in them. OxyContin is a time relealse and is usually taken twice a day. Usuallymanother med is given for breakthrough pain. All of these drugs will case physical dependence and in some people can lead to addiction.
Avatar f tn m right and these headaches are being caused by the analgesics the only solution I see here is to somehow wean totally off the oxycontin. The bone and muscle pain is unbearable and I cannot walk without the oxycontin but the headaches incapacitate me too. I don't want to simply exist. I want to participate in life.

Avatar f tn Hi, I am on 50mg of Zoloft and I can't have caffeine. It is very tricky for me to avoid caffeine being that I'm not sure what has caffeine and what doesn't. Is there a list of common everyday foods and drinks that do not have caffeine in them?
Avatar f tn t live without my coffee, went from 3-4 cups a day to one in the morning. And here and there have a soda...as long as they are not the only things you drink all day every day I was told it's not a big deal.
435139 tn?1255460391 I know chocolate has caffeine, and the piece I had on Sunday to take home was cut into four seven inch in length by 3 inches wide pieces (it was a tall layered cake with peanut butter in between the three layers!). I had one piece yesterday and another today then my grandmother freaked me out! I know I shouldn't eat cake while pregnant...no nutrients, unhealthy etc. etc. BUT do you really think it has a lot of caffeine and that I could have hurt my developing baby? Thanks!
Avatar f tn I have trouble concentrating and become dizzy easily. For those who have the same issue, do you find it difficult to tolerate caffeine and does it worsen your symptoms? It seems like it does not matter how much water or Gatorade I consume if I have a diet coke I feel bad the rest of the day. I'm tired of feeling bad!
432737 tn?1358549432 Hi. My husband and I of three years are trying to conceive our first child. I am a healthy 27 year old at a good weight and good diet. The only bad thing is I'm pretty hooked on caffeine. I don't drink coffee, but I do drink one Sugar Free Rockstar energy drink per day, which has 160 mg of caffeine. Since TTC, Ive cut down it down so that this one energy drink is the only caffeine drink I have each day (stopped drinking caffeinated sodas on the side and replacing with water, juice, etc.
Avatar m tn The fresh ground coffee will be much stronger and contain more caffeine. You can buy caffeine reduced coffee and also dandelion coffee (this contains no caffeine and is a bit of an acquired taste!) Stick to 1 of two cups of coffee in a day and don't drink any caffeinated drinks (that includes fizzy drinks and tea) after early evening. Keep a record of your symptoms so that you can avoid your coffee drink if you want to feel calm and have a good night's sleep.
Avatar m tn I just wanted to know if any of you guys know a replacement for caffeine that gives the same alertness and focus without giving the virus more power.
183202 tn?1219853659 Yet there are days when I sit at my computer at work and I just feel like dozing right off... and I need the caffeine to wake me up. I HATE IT, yet I know otherwise I would pass out. So what are your thoughts? What should I do?? And again, please answer my first question as well. Thanks!!
Avatar m tn Oh boy. First of all, it may or may not be the caffeine at all, but if it is, chocolate is the WORST source. The amount of caffeine "like" chemicals in one Hershey Kiss is equivalent to a full cup of coffee. It is not caffeine, but a similar chemical that stimulates the brain and releases endorphins/adrenaline--thus the almost addictive craving for chocolate in some of us. Also, red wine is a major trigger for many arrhythmias including SVT.
Avatar f tn i also was told that if your takin prenatals that caffine is natural iron blocker and that.. so if you consume a lot of caffeine and are trying to take prenatals or vitamins it can counter act them so your not getting the nutrients u think you are. just thought i'd add to that info.. good to stuff!
Avatar f tn t use anything with caffeine, but I read somewhere else that the caffeine found in coffee helps. B4 my dx I would use caffeine to boost the pain meds into my system faster so I thought that was what was working.
1063764 tn?1272821064 Hello, I am a twenty two year old female. About a year ago I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. My levels were 9.5 from what I remember. As soon as I realized this was causing me so many problems, I changed my diet and exercise completely. Two months later my levels went down to 2.11 without the use of any medication. It's been about a year since then. I have been in good health since, with the exception of an ultrasound showing a few microscopic nodules on my thyroid.
Avatar f tn i was still drinking a cup of coffee when i got pg. as my pg progressed at around 6-wks when you normally start feeling nausea, i had to stop b/c caffeine was upsetting my stomach and was making me throw-up. this said, and from what i've heard, you an drink coffee in moderation and should not interfere with implantation. i'm sure same applies for soda as long as it is consumed in moderation. keep in mind though the other issues in consuming soda...
Avatar f tn t like I was caffeine sensitive and found out, I was up to massive amounts of caffeine and when it hit, I was on the side of the highway barely clinging to life. IBKleen has an excellent amount of knowledge regarding this stuff, and some others will come on later. I am just putting that warning on there, if it works for you, great, just please please use moderation of some kind. Here is a link that shows it ain't all me.
