612876 tn?1355514495 Weaning should be slow -- no more than 10% per month -- to avoid severe negative side effects of withdrawal. Medical treatment of withdrawal symptoms should be provided. These may include treatment for runny nose, diarrhea, etc. Hyperalgesia is a common symptom of opioid withdrawal. While symptom fades with time, in the early months of withdrawal it can be quite debilitating depending on your underlying pain condition.
Avatar n tn What can I expect in the way of withdrawal symptoms on that low of a dose? I have been taking Oxycodone for about 3 months but, prior to that, was taking about 3 Lortabs per day x4 years. Any advice would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn 30mg "perc" is not really percocet (percs are oxycodone/APAP, i.e., oxycodone/tylenol) - what you're taking is Roxicet (nickname is Roxys) which is more like oxycontin (OC).
Avatar m tn I have been on the medication oxycodone for about 5 years 10 mg and I am currently on day 6 without taking any of the oxycodone but my question is if I'm taking 3 or 4 mg of Suboxone everyday on my 14th day, can I stop the suboxone all together and will I feel okay? Is 2 weeks of low doses 2-3 times a day of subs, long enough to get rid of withdrawal? Should I continue for one more week with subs? I don't want to be dependent on subs though. I want to take ZERO pain meds.
Avatar f tn Hi I have a question I was on oxycodone 15 mg for 3 weeks stop taking them had mild withdrawal had to go back on them for 8 days after I had a back procedure would eyes go through withdrawal again
Avatar f tn I began to realize that it was possible this could be withdrawal and made a note to check the symptoms tomorrow at work. So here is day 3. I'm miserable. I feel like I was hit by a bus and have the worst flu of my life. I looked up the symptoms and was shocked to see that I had been experiencing precisely what cold turkey withdrawal is. Over the counter sleep aids haven't helped at all. Nobody in the world knows I was using these pills so nobody knows what I'm going through.
Avatar m tn I started taking 120 to 160mg of Oxycodone after scoliosis surgery ( fused from T3 to S1) three years ago. After a year, I had cut my dose back to 30 mg. all was going well until I was in a car accident and was read ended by a driver going 65 miles an hour. No rods or screws were damaged, but I couldn't walk without unbearable nerve pain. My level was a 4 or 5 with drugs! Once again, I am back up to 120 mg. I am tapering off again. I cut back by 30 mg.
Avatar n tn Let me give you a little background on myself so you understand where I'm coming from. I was taking about 120mg of oxycodone a day for a while. Eventually, I started doing heroin. My tolerance went through the rough. I could easily at the end have done 3000mg (yes that's three thousand) of oxycodone a day. About a month ago I got arrested and went to jail for 30 hours. I decided that I needed to change my life. I had support frommy family. This is essential.
Avatar m tn What are the withdrawal symptoms and side effects from oxycodone? How long do they last?
Avatar f tn well, r u taking it as your doc prescribed it? if so, u may just need it. hip replacement is a long recovery. please dont take this the wrong way but with your advanced age, u may just have terrible arthritis all over. please dont stop it all at once. talk to your doc if u need help getting off of it. withdrawal is EXTREMELY Hard on thw body and would b best if u taper off under your docs supervision. good luck.
Avatar m tn I'm just short of 60 hours since my last dose of oxycodone. I have no withdrawal symptoms at all -- none. I even slept fairly well last night w/o any sleep aids (except melatonin, an over-the-counter supplement which I have been taking for years). For those who don't know my history, I was on oxycodone for about 3 months. The first two were fairly low dosages (10-20 mg/day) to help me deal with significant sciatic pain caused by a synovial cyst in my lumbar spine.
Avatar m tn It is an opiate and is as addicting if not more so, than oxycodone and others. The withdrawal symptoms will eventually go away, but if they are unbearable or persistent, see if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep. Clonidine is very helpful for the creepy-crawly feeling and control of blood pressure variations.
Avatar f tn Do you think I am having withdrawals from taking 3 tabs 10/325 (I only took a few oxycodone) for 5 years or this is fibro. Without the Norco I am always fatigued, achy, and confused feeling. I don't want the oxycodone and the second pain Dr. wants me on oxycontin patch. I think this is all insane.
Avatar f tn You are taking 20 mg of hydrocodone per day--- a low dose of narcotic. To put it in perspective, oxycodone is 50% to 100% stronger, and a typical addict who comes to my office for help is taking 100-300 mg of oxycodone per day-- sometimes over 500 mg. So I would expect your withdrawal to be relatively mild. BUT-- everyone hates opioid withdrawal, and even mild withdrawal is miserable.
481056 tn?1240138727 I am taking about 10 mg of oxy a day and I DO NOT want to feel like **** when I withdrawal but I need to get off of all of it period because it is taking over my life. Any suggestions on how to make it smooth so I don't feel bad? I was taking 40 mg a day but I have weened down to only 10 mg. The past 2 nights I have been having restless arms, not being able to sleep and feeling sick to my stomach. Am prolonging all of this by weening down or should I just go cold turkey and be done with it?
Avatar f tn Maybe I explained it wrong. I had withdrawal after 12 hours of last oxycodone. It was hell getting better but still very hard. Day 15 today. Legs still bad.
Avatar f tn The Lyrica and gabapentin will help with a lot of the withdrawal symptoms as well. The best thing is for you to cut down. Do a nice slow taper and I am sure it will minimize withdrawal symptoms. Perhaps it may be better to come off one pill at a time. Hopefully others chime in with some better advice.
425312 tn?1279966179 The good side of the coin is that the withdrawal symptoms, ceteris paribus (all things remaining equal), for Oxycodone withdrawal symptoms are less intense. The withdrawal symptoms begin 4-6 hours after your last dose of Oxycodone and peak between 36 and 72 hours.
Avatar n tn Ok, I am just into day 2 of quitting ocycodone cold turkey. My doctor decided this was the best way to do it as opposed to weaning. I have to say he was right. this is hell. He pout me on 30mg of cymbalta to help ease the anxiety which seems to be helping however tyhe nausea is really bad. I cant eat, sleep or really do much of anything.
Avatar n tn I have been taking hydrocodone for about 3 years and for the last year have been taking Oxycodone. I really want to stop, but when I don't take the oxy, I get the sweats and chills and my body hurts so bad. I take about 160mg a day. My question is, are these symptoms of withdrawl? and How long will this last?
Avatar m tn Cocaine withdrawal is merely psychological, where as, Opiate withdrawal is physical. Instead of reverting to smoking pot or taking another substance like Lyrica, I would suggest looking into vitamin, herbal and over the counter remedies to help you get by the first few days. Magnesium and Potassium both aid in neuromuscular communication, which will help your body alleviate your pain symptoms. Also, get yourself sone icy hot patches and take hot baths.
Avatar m tn t have quit. because sub withdrawal is way worse then oxycodone withdrawal without a doubt. and I would not advise anyone to cold turkey quit subs if you do quit just quit the oxycodone I have done that and was only 4 days compared to the duration of sub withdrawal. but can anyone answer my ? that has done it before honestly. thanks in advance.
