Oxycodone withdrawal side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Oxycodone withdrawal side effects

oxycontin

Avatar f tn But some of the side effects can be very uncomfortable. The main side effects of oxycodone withdrawal are the same as other opiates and opioids are classified as mild, moderate or severe.
Avatar m tn This is a very complicated question, and your doctor's actions are a bit confusing. buprenorphine has a 'ceiling' to the effects it creates, and that ceiling has effects about equal to the effects of taking oxycodone 60 mg. If you give buprenorphine to a person who is taking nigh doses of oxycodone, you usually cause withdrawal. I am surprised that you were able to add a buprenorphine patch, while taking oxycodone, without getting withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar m tn What are the withdrawal symptoms and side effects from oxycodone? How long do they last?
Avatar m tn They seem to keep you calm and really help with the cravings and side effects for some. Your not taking much so u may want to just have someone u trust taper u. I know if your like me, I have no one I can trust. LOL.. found that out the hard way. But i am trying the lyrica I have had in my pill bag for quite a while after reading that it helps alot of people, just started today, but usually by now I would b having cravings and probably have given in and taken another oxy 30.
Avatar f tn You are now likely either in withdrawal from coming off oxycodone, or in precipitated withdrawal from the buprenorphine's opioid blocking effects. I wish I had an easy answer for you, but the right way forward at this point depends on many different factors-- factors that I do not know. I would recommend getting back on the meds you were taking, and making sure that your doc understands the complex effects of buprenorphine-- including the opioid blocking effects of the medication.
Avatar f tn Did you taper off the vibryd or quit abruptly? You can't just switch from one medication to another even in the same class and avoid withdrawal -- these meds are not easy to stop taking and it must be done carefully. Unless you completely stop taking a medication before starting another it's impossible to tell if your symptoms are a sign you're suffering withdrawal and quit too quickly or are side effects of the new medication.
Avatar f tn I have morphine cr 45mg 3x/day which I asked to change due to side effects. Dr put me on Oxycodone 20mg 4x/day. After my back surgery recuperation I want to stop the meds. Which one should I be on for an easier withdrawal. I am scared because I have been on this for ages. When I have the surgery I can ask the dr to use the med that would be easier for me to withdraw so what do you think.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had issues with withdrawal symptoms coming on suddenly? I know the Opana ER doesn't last 12 hours (even my doc warned me this was the case) but this latest batch of opana seems to poop out & give me old sweats about 4 hours after taking it. I've been on Opana ER, 20 mg 2x/day for a couple of months. It's my 2nd experience with long-acting opioids (1st was Oxycontin MS, quit after 10 days due to gluten issues).
Avatar m tn If she is not having side effects from them, there is no need to rush the tapering process and go through withdrawal!
612876 tn?1355514495 Weaning should be slow -- no more than 10% per month -- to avoid severe negative side effects of withdrawal. Medical treatment of withdrawal symptoms should be provided. These may include treatment for runny nose, diarrhea, etc. Hyperalgesia is a common symptom of opioid withdrawal. While symptom fades with time, in the early months of withdrawal it can be quite debilitating depending on your underlying pain condition.
Avatar f tn IMO, ambien has a moderate risk of abuse and some people have weird side effects. (My wife absolutely hated me taking it). Again, in my experience, lunesta is an effective sleep aid for normal insomnia and has a low risk of abuse. (I've tried abusing it, was never successful. :-). Note that I said "for normal insomnia. Narcotic withdrawal sleep issues can be severe and it's possible that none of these remedies will help. There's always a risk is taking any medication.
175734 tn?1225134440 A lot depends on how the drug effects you. I have heard methodone has little side effects but getting off it can be a horror story on it's own. There will be more experienced ppl on the forum that can better answer your question. I too am working with my CPC to find a long lasting pain med that "works" for me without side effects.
3215142 tn?1345826826 great success story tina! Maybe you should be the one giving the advice and sharing the story of your escape from the "many many pills". I think the pains you now have will be fixable without many many pills. You'll figure it out! Stretch stretch stretch and spa spa spa. Shanti( That too!
Avatar f tn Do these side effects eventually go away if you take Soboxin (sp), and then eventually no SOboxin? If a person works out and takes vitamins will this assist in getting this awful drug out of the system?
2030686 tn?1351688548 Chills, body aches, fever or flu like symptoms are all normal side effects of interferon. High doses of vicodin means you're getting a high dose of acetaminophen which can be very liver unfriendly. Those with hepc should not exceed 2000 mg of acetaminophen daily. If you must use pain management drugs for an existing condition perhaps you should talk to your doctor about prescribing something without acetaminophen such as a low dose oxycodone or Tramadol.
Avatar f tn I appreciate the help with the side effects, I was trying to figure out if I was having normal side effects and which would be from the Tylenol and which from the oxy. I am trying to make sure I take breaks when I can handle them from the meds, so I don't get dependant or addicted. But the pain gets so bad that I can't sleep for a few days, then I finally take something and wonder if I am in fact getting addicted? Scary, I have seen addiction in my family and it is not good.
Avatar f tn re pregnant. The effects of sudden withdrawal can be more severe for the fetus, than continuing oxycodone throughout your pregnancy. If you really want to stop, you must do it under medical supervision. You won't have harmed your baby by taking oxycodone, and it very unlikely to cause any harm even if you take it right through your pregnancy. Some babies do withdraw following birth, and this shown by a period of increased crying and irritability.
Avatar f tn When I came off of it, my doc put me on a taper as I came off of it. I did notice some side effects like naseau and increased anxiety, however I kept an open line of communication with the doc. I asked if it would be okay to go on a slower taper as I came off of it. He agreed and the slower taper seemed to help with the side effects. I am glad that you are seeing a psychiatrist to help you with your medication prescriptions and questions.
Avatar f tn This drug I feel is comparable to Oxycontin (Oxycodone) and Morphine as far as side effects and withdrawals are concerned. I also find myself at times craving Effexor for its "numbing" effects. This has turned me off to any anti-depressant/anti-anxiety medication and now I only go to therapy. I find that I function without it much better and I feel like myself again. How can I ever take medication again without a concern for something like this to happen again or even worse?
Avatar f tn Thanx for that great information Jeff. I found that interesting; that the cost of this drug can be so expensive when purchased illegally. To include the patient that was taking upwards of 700mg a day? When you honestly put all this into perspective, all oxycodone/contin is...is synthetic heroin. My personal hands on experience with this pain killer has been a "love hate relationship".
Avatar f tn What is it exactly? Does it substitue oxycodone by making you free of withdrawal symptoms? Or does it give you some type of high? Does it have side effects that any of you have experienced? I read the site for the med , but it seems too good to be true. I appreciate any feedback you can share-positive or negative . I want to know if it is worth going that route. I really want to get my life back together...thank you guys for all of your help.
Avatar f tn Supplementation with DHEA/DHEAS may be a preferred treatment in women due to its ability to raise androgen levels without significant side effects. Anecdotally, rotation from one opioid medication to another may also be effective. In summary, opioid treatment is intended to reduce patients’ pain, and to improve physical and social functioning.
