I had foot surgery and I was doing great weaned down to only Vicodin and only at bed but went for a post op appt they had to dig for a few surtures took of casting put me in a boot AM allowed to put slight pressure on the heel only any way can you say going back wards in pain !
I have been taking Ultram for 8 years along with oxycodone for 5 years. I have severe scoliosis, 2 herniated discs and several other bad problems with my spine. I unfortuneately was born this way (congenital). I also have very bad TMJ, Dr. told me I will probably have to have surgery to correct my hinge in my jaw. I just wanted to let everyone know how I came to taking all of this medication. My bad back pain came after my second child was born and I had post partum depression.
It is easier to get off Vicodin than ultram (aka tramadol) because tram is synthetic and contains an antidepressant. Like sub and methadone, also synthetic, the withdrawal is long and arduous. Vicodin is the weaker of the narcotic pain meds and detox, although not fun, is over relatively quick. 1 to 2 weeks tops. Tram w/d lasts for months.
If you have been using Lortab then try Ultram, it would be like the effects of a baby aspirin. I did use Ultram 6 pills a day with Vicodin to help the painful times. I finally said I can't affford all this medicine (at the time 11 meds) so with the doctors help, I slowly got off of Ultram. I took about 6 weeks to do it and had no side effects or extra pain. I've been off of it for over a year after being on it for >4 yrs.
why would a dr. change me from 5mg. of oxycodone to 30mg. morphine? i was put out of work cuz i could not funtion only weigh 113lbs now he has change me to 10mg of morphine i told him i am not comfortable taking morphine.
s stronger than the Ultram and hydrocodone, but not yet as strong as the Fentanyl? Oxycodone might work well. You can get it in tablet form without tylenol in it like the Vicodin has, and this makes it safer for your liver.
Ultram is a waste, in my opinion, because it doesn't help severe pain and it is as addictive as any narcotic on the market, besides the fact that it can cause far more problems than narcotics can.

Hope ur feelin better. Just wanted to say I have tried and failed CT and weaning so many times....Most recently I tried weaning w/suboxone. I can't wean. If you have self control then maybe you can? I have went CT from ultram hydro's and xanax successfully before. It's tough but doable. Get things in order. Ur responsibilities catch up around the house @ wk. Buy some things you'll need like crackers and juices, Imodium,aleve.
s physical W/D were much more tolerable even though I ONLY took 1 Ultram.. I dont get it.. On the days I was taking 2 Norco and 6-8 Ultram I was W/D-ing really bad but now the physical effects seem to be managable today. Does this mean that the W/D's from the Norco are subsiding or will they come back FULL FORCE??? This is so frigging hard especially since no one in my family knows about my struggle and I need to keep it that way..
My daughter is taking 10 50mg of ultram per day. She is taking them to get off of suboxone. How dangerous is this?
Until you stop everything you will not understand the full effects of the w/d's. The ultram is bad just like the oxy. She may want to try and go CT ( cold turkey) off of everything before she gets in too deep with the pills ie: ( the devil ). The fact is that most of us here are chronic pain sufferers. We have no reason to lie about how bad addiction is.

I have taken 300 ER vs 8 x 50mg, per day for years, for per. neuropathy. Sometimes I took more, and only sporadically was I "affected"by that. Has seemed like a very safe pain med option. Never remember a problem quitting cold turkey ( or from 8 10/500 hydro's / day either for that matter ).

I do seem to have a HUGE tolerance, so they say. I don't drink or smoke ( good thing with the acet.in the hydro, eh?
One year after that I had to have surgery and became addicted again I have been on 200mg ms contin and 15 mg. oxycodone about 4-5 a day since then. In November I decided I wanted to get off all pain meds. I was down to 15 mg ms contin 2 times a day. I know this is such a low dose but it must have been enough to keep me going throught withdrawls. Now im down to one a day and its unbearable. I am so miserable and I feel like Im not going to make it.
ultram can be very addictive. do you get a script?
if you only get a few pills to get you through the first few days, that would be ok. be careful.
I have been tapering of oxycodone after broken shoulder, for 3 months. I got down to 45 mg/day. now with significant w/d sx. Ultram takes them away completely. However, no plans to continue or switch one for another...how many days or weeks is typical to get through withdrawal period? Also what is this thomas recipe and neurontin/vitamin concoction and how long do you take it?

Would you mind letting us know the reason that your Doctor gave you for switching you? Was the Norco 10/325 not managing your pain as well as it used to? Had you asked for the amount to be "upped"?
It does sound strange because dope is a lot more pleasurable than ultram. You should really stop both and stop the maddness. I have seen this give them one drug to replace another drug routine backfire many times on this site. Just stop all these drugs. It takes time to re-adjust.
Will taking ultram in small doses help with withdrawals from oxycodone? I have been battling an addiction for some time. haven't posted here in awhile for certain reasons. A friend of mine who used to be prescribed oxycodone like me, got off them by replacing them with ultram, and then gradually reducing it. Will it ease wds? is it safe? has anyone tried this? i appreciate any information that will help me.
What's the difference between Ultram ER and Tramadol? I've been taking/abusing Ultram ER 200mg. To get off these things my Dr switched me to Tramadol 50mg. 1-2 4 times daily w/2 extra strength Tylenol. I'm feeling lethargic. I slept fine but I'm just tired and I'm jumpy.
For those who have not read my journal this all started after being struck by lighting in June. I'm assuming what I'm felling is a difference between Ultram and Tramadol.
The oxy seemed to escalate quite rapidly vs increases needed when I was on hydromorph products. Which is stronger? Which is slower to build up tolerence to? Is it different for different people? I stopped taking oxy on my own, & basically brought them
to the dr. & said I wasn't taking these. I had had a very very strange week of no sleeping, confusion etc. .. My husband & I figured it out to be the addition of lyrica.
