Oxycodone vs hydrocodone percocet

Common Questions and Answers about Oxycodone vs hydrocodone percocet

oxycontin

Avatar f tn Percocet is the brand name of the generic drug oxycodone and acetaminophen and Vicodin is a brand name of the generic drug Hydrocodone and acetaminophen. Both oxycodone and Hydrocodone is a narcotic drug and are often used in combination with acetaminophen or APAP, a no steroidal anti inflammatory drug which helps in increasing their potency.
Avatar f tn The variance is the strength of the Oxycodone. Percocet has Tylenol and Oxycodone. Roxicodone is only oxycodone (so no Tylenol). They usually come in strengths higher than 10mg. So, it is more likely that the Roxicodone would be stronger. Have you tried Tizanidine for Muscle Spasms? It may work better. The only way I love Flexeril is in a transdermal pain cream, used for musculoskeletal and myofascial pain.
450052 tn?1207660274 I believe Norco is hydrocodone/acetemetophine and Percocet is oxycodone/acetemetophine. I am not positive on the Norco though. You may be taking a stronger Norco script than you were the Percocet script, because Percocet is generally stronger. As far as I know generic and brand name should be the same. I don't know what else to tell you.
699217 tn?1323438700 I wanted to know what the difference is between hydrocodone and like-oxycontin or oxycodone, Percocet, tramadol, is this all just types of hydrocodone? All I ever took was hydrocodone....
590280 tn?1310087366 Percocet is Oxycodone and Vicodin ES is Hydrocodone.
Avatar f tn the percocet are stronger, more addictive and result in worse withdrawals. the difference is vicodin are hydrocodone and percocet are oxycodone... same stuff as in the 'oxy's' that you probably have heard about... only difference is the strength. One thing you need to realize is that each time you use the stronger stuff to get you thru till you get your doc which is the weaker of the two you are moving your tolerance along so that you need more of it to get to your level.
Avatar f tn are just trademarked names for the generics (hydrocodone and oxycodone)...also, those opiates can be combined with other analgesics instead of tylenol....example, "Percodan" is oxycodone with aspirin. Sorry...hope I didn't confuse you...but while the drugs are very similar, and both strong opiates, there are a lot of differences, which people do not always realize.
Avatar n tn In order to get rid of the Tylenol you have to move up to the drug oxycodone which is in drugs like Percocet they make oxycodone tabs without Tylenol. Question is why are you so worried about your liver? Is your liver already compromised? At 6 a day you are only getting 1950mg of Tylenol which is not a problem if you have a healthy liver. The adult high end max is 4000mg per day or 4 grams so you are well below it.
Avatar f tn Oxycodone is sposedly a bit stronger than hydrocodone. I found the same thing tho...I got more of a jump start from hydros.
Avatar f tn I would go with the oxycodone (percocet) over the hydrocodone (vicodin), because it's possible to get the oxycodone in it's pure form in a pill without the tylenol in it. The -cet suffix on the percocet is what denotes the acetominophen or Tylenol. In the generic form, it would give the mg strength of the pill (ie, 5/500) and then say APAP on the label.
Avatar f tn One thing I have not see anyone say about the differences in hydrocodone and oxycodone is that hydrocodone is schedule III while oxycodone is a scheduled II......
Avatar f tn I mean, I know Oxycontin is slow release, but percocet is Oxycodone and how is that different from the Oxycontin? I thought they were the same only, one was slow release and one was not, but there must be another difference... Right?
Avatar n tn Just a quick correction...Percocet is oxycodone with Acetaminophen, and Percodan is Oxycodone with Aspirin, not Tylenol. There are other, less common combinations, like Vicoprofen, which would be Hydrocodone with Ibuprofen instead of Tylenol (Acetaminophen). Vicodin, Norco, Lortab are all Hydrocodone. Dilaudid comes both in oral and injectable forms, with doses starting at usually 1 mg. Fentanyl patches typically start at 25 mcg/hr (micrograms). I have seen lower doses, 12.
Avatar n tn If you husband has a narcotic addiction that would include codeine. However his drug of choice is probably percocet (oxycodone). Codeine is not nearly as strong as oxycodone and I assume his PCP is aware of his problems with oxycodone. Indeed it would take many codeine to compare to one oxycodone. His PCP may have prescribed him only enough for several days. If his physician felt he required the drug for pain he may be cutting him some slack.
Avatar m tn You should be able to find hydrocodone in India. The alternative would be Percocet which is oxycodone instead of hydrocodone. They both are very similar but the oxycodone is a bit stronger. From what I have read, a 5 mg percocet is equal to a 7.5 mg vicodin.
Avatar n tn It has to do with the FDA schedule that the drugs are on. Hyrocodone and codeine are Schedule III narcotics which can be called in by a doctor. Percocet/oxycodone is a Schedule II narcotic which means that it's a step up on the ladder from hydrocodone in strength and therefore cannot be called in.
Avatar m tn It's possible to get Percocet without the -cet. Straight oxycodone works better to control my pain than anything I have taken to date, and I have taken quite a few different things. That's why I love my PMP as much as I do, he listens to me and prescribes what I feel works instead of telling me to "Try this, if it doesn't work yadda yadda yadda". I have to travel 90 miles to get to my doctor (the worst part about Texas, everything is hours from everything else!
Avatar n tn yes, percocet is a class 2 narcotic and vicodin is a class 3. Percocet is an oxycodone with tylenol, and vicodin is a hydrocodone with tylenol. If ever you need a refill you can't have a doctor call in a class 2. Both are addictive equally...
Avatar m tn It is most likely the oxycodone in the percocet that is making you sleepy. Unfortunately it is just a side effect of the medication for some. I take hydrocodone and as the dose wears off I become sleepy. Sometimes if I am idle I can doze off for a few minutes. I find that caffeine helps. As soon as I take my next dose the sleepiness subsides. I am not positive but I think this is a fairly common side effect. I hope this helps.
Avatar m tn If you are addicted to Hydrocodone (Vicodin, Norco, Lortab), and you ran out for example, taking any others including Oxycodone (Percocet, Percodan) will work for you. And by the way Oxycodone and Hydrocodone are very similar in nature and are equally addictive. You should think about coming off everything. You mention deciding not to take the Norco and taking the Percocet instead, same difference basically. Also, you mention the Percocet possibly becoming an addiction.
Avatar m tn 00 AM and along with it take a Percocet (Oxycodone) at 10:00 AM the answer is no, it is certainly not recommended. Ask the physician that prescribed both of the meds for you how he/she meant for you to take them. They are both narcotic pain medications. The percocet is stronger than the Norco. However that doesn't mean that it will work better. Hydrocodone works better for me than Oxycodone.
Avatar f tn They are two different drugs. Hydrocodone is the generic of Vicodin. Oxyxodone is the same as Percocet without the Tylenol xomponent. I can't take hydrocodone due to itching. It's extreme, the itching is all over including itching in my ears and nose. Oxycodone is also stronger than Vicodin.
