Avatar n tn Hi Telby, I'd be very careful with taking the Naltrexone without medical supervision. I hear it has some side effects and can be really rough on the body. Be sure the opiate is completely out of your system if you do decide to take it. I recently heard of someone who had not taken any opiates for 24 hours but there must have still been some in her system, 'cause when she took the naltrexone, BAM~!! she felt extremely ill and had to go to the ER.
Avatar m tn I know its wrong that I am taking this drug and I am very controlling myself and responsible which is why I haven't gone above 60mg a day, but I fear i might step up to 75mg a day or more and I don't want that. I have also been noticing some side effects.. My eyes are alittle blood shot. I only tend to do these in the evening when I get home but when I do em... my vision seems funny. Its harder to urinate then normal.
Avatar m tn Buprenorphine has many bad side effects for me, but far less than the oxycodone. At this point I'm going to try to keep my dose as low as possible and I'll keep researching until I find a way to get off. I guess the next step may be to start saving money in hopes of trying the Rapid Detox method. However it will probably take me at least a year to save $10,000 so it is not something I can do now.

I could not drive (well, very well...and I basically stayed out of a car for a week...and the 55' big screen tv was no longer big enough for my hazy oculars..haha). It should be fine with time. Judging from the rest of the folks on this forum...I would say your use is a bit above average...so you may be on the longer end of the spectrum in terms of when you will feel better. Not much longer though.

Avatar n tn I use medical marijuana. Too many side effects w/heavy drugs like oxy and vicodin. It has unexpectedly improved my vision (I have optic neuritis) which I have no explanation for. Tthe people at my dispensary are able to provide me with varieties specifically suited to my MS needs; and I have some for sleep, for relaxation and some that just makes me philosophical about and amused by this crazy little thing called Life. I also laugh more, and that is *always* a good thing!

My pain level is out of control still, and I don't know what to do. I feel extremely hopeless. I am really struggling on this. I guess I am looking for a second opinion on the treatment plan and also, for alternate treatments that aren't as "strong" as oxycodone in its various forms. I have thought of asking about Tramadol and Darvon. Would these be suitable for the treatment of chronic pain? Any help would be much appreciated.
Avatar m tn It's effectiveness will vary from person to person as everyone is different. I was prescribed Ultam (Tramadol) for my back injuries back in 2003 and I have to say that it did give me some relief at the time but would never be prescribed to me today in my present condition. I did have some side effects such as, sleeplessness, mild anxiety, and a bit of a fogginess about me when I was on it. I was taking 50 mg. every 4 to 6 hours as needed.
