NOT oxymorphone dear, oxycodone. Oxycontin has the sole active ingredient oxycodone, Perocet has both oxycodone and acetaminophen...hence the "cet" suffix. Theres also Percoden which is oxycodone and asprin. Oxymorphone is a totally different drug 2x the strenth of oxycodone.

I have a question since I am not familar with Oxycodone ER- generic verison of Oxycotin. My Dad had a scare yesterday when he took his Oxycotin but it had broken. Does that mean he got the full 10mg of oxycodone at one time instead of released throughout the day? Wouldn't that be the same as taking 2- 5mg oxys?

we shall see. In the meantime, I was given 15 mg oxycodone to take for pain, every 6 hours. It is like taking nothing! I got desperate on night, just lost my mind from 2 days straight with horrible pain and no sleep. On a 1-10 scale? 12! So, I took 60 mg of oxycodone and 40 mg of methadone, plus 1 mg of Ativan - all at once, instead of breaking doses up over the day. I slept great for the first time since the wreck - March 25, 2015!

Can a baby overdose off of hydrocodone, oxycodone , or Roxycodone through breast milk if the mother takes the right dosage, or slightly more, only once a day and not everyday. If he breastfeeds while its in the mothers system, is sleepiness a sign of overdosing? If so, can l the overdose possibly death happen after the mother is no longer on medication?

I believe that oxycodone is the generic name for Roxicodone, which is also obviously percocet without the tylenol. Oxycontin and oxycodone are the same thing, EXCEPT oxycodone is a quick release tablet, and oxycontin is a slow release of the same med. Hydrocodone is the ingredient in Vicodin and Lortab. Although they are all narcotics, vicodin and lortab are lesser strength than the oxy's and morphine.

I am confused this talwin has naloxone in it- i am about to research it but i believe that is what they use to reverse overdose effects. I do take two naproxen 220 mg along with one one 10 mg oxycodone IR tablet and two 300 mg gabapentin capsules in the the AM when I wake up. Oxycodone is a little bit stronger than Vicodin. But I agree with the first poster that you need to contact your pharmacist to make sure the combo is OK for you to take as everyone is different and you may have underlying medical conditions that would make it an unsafe. choice for you.

I have been prescribed both at high doses... it is safe as long as the doctor manages the dose... The combo worked well for me for a while... now I am on Fentanyl and Oxycodone... sometimes it takes a change every so often to get the most out of the medications...

I have a friend who is prescribed methadone and 5mg oxycodone. And I always thought methadone was a opioid blocker. So wouldn't that bock the oxycodone??

NM leads in drug overdose deaths and not substance abuse. They (the CDC) estimated 4 per100K people die every year from prescription drug overdose and I'm sure that's accurate...it would be about 80 people a year and that doesn't include alcohol and illegal drugs, of course.

This drug is normally not as effective as hydrocodone or oxycodone or similar narcotics therefore ppl with pain tend to take more to ease it. Increasing the recommended dose of any medication can have serious complications. Again thanks for the article.

ok i unfortunately broke my thumb 3 weeks ago at work and i was prescibed oxycodone 5s for pain .i just finished the bottle and i feel like im going to die i feel like i got the flu a friend was telling me im going through withdrawals and to take immodium ad to help relieve them .my question is if immodium ad really works for withdrawals.
