Avatar f tn I had a tooth extracted in Sept.2010 and used Oxycodone for pain for 1 day. It worked just as it did for my surgery and it expired in Jan/2010. My Dr. at Moffitt Cancer center also said it was okay as well as my Dentist.

Avatar f tn My mom is 79, a diabetic, and takes percodan on a regular basis. Has for 2 years. Last week she took 45 in one week. Is she in dangering her body? She's had an abscessed tooth for almost 2 years and hasn't gotten it looked at until last week. she is getting it pulled next week. Do you think the abscess has caused any damage to her body that cannot be fixed? Help!!!
Avatar n tn I had a wisdom tooth & cyst removed 2 days ago (09/19/12)--left lower side. Outpt surgery under general anesthesia. The wisdom tooth was horizontal next to a cyst---the crown of the wisdom tooth was pushing against the tooth next to it. Not in to much pain, I'm taking clindamycin & oxycodone. Since the extraction, I have only taken 4 pain pills. Of course my face is still swollen, which is to be expected, but my tongue on the left side is still numb.
Avatar f tn Keep in mind I got 3 hours of sleep last night and I have to take care of my 9 1/2 month old son. I had the oxycodone left over from my pregnancy and I broke a tooth a couple days ago. I just started the depakote yesterday. I'm terrified. I hate this feeling. I would rather suffer with a painful tooth.
1527412 tn?1291705056 re having trouble sleeping, you talk to your doctor about the possibility of prescribing you something specificially for that, rather than savign some of your pain meds for that purpose. One last thing - just because your testing is being done through the government - the VA - that does NOT necessarily mean that their tests are top of the line or correct.
Avatar f tn Taking amoxicillin antibiotics already and my oxycodone is literally taking none of my pain away. Am I getting dry socket??
Avatar f tn Hi everyone :) My Dad recently had a stroke, during which time they found occlusion in one of his legs, causing foot pain. He's currently on Oxycodone. But I'm looking for a better pain management option(s) for him. From what I've been able to ascertain, Vicodin, Celebrex, Darvo- or Percocet have seemed viable options. Can anyone share their opinions on this??? Thanks so much!
1354136 tn?1331875317 going in on friday to get an upper wisdom tooth pulled. can't afford the sedation so just opting for a local. never had a tooth pulled before, hopefully i'll be fine? tooth is already out of gumline. any insight would be appreciated, just nervous here. thanks.
Avatar m tn however, yesterday i started getting pain in the general area of my implanted tooth. the tooth is located on the upper left side of my mouth (5 in from my front tooth). I thought it was strange that it started bothering me AFTER most of my congestion went away. I am no longer blowing out tons of nasty yellow/brown mucus from my nose but i am still coughing up brown stuff.
Avatar n tn The endotontist filed the sealant down today, and prescribed Amoxicillan. I am also taking Oxycodone for the pain. I DO NOT want to lose my tooth but was told initially it is possible, I am scared. PLEASE advise. Extra filler squirting out ok? Pain stops when? Save tooth?
Avatar f tn Thanks for this info, I had no idea! I have had tooth problems predating opiate use but now I'll be more vigilant about what I'm taking.
Avatar f tn I have been noticing a lot of posts by people taking oxycodone that mentions a huge sweet tooth but I dont think I have seen any people whose DOC is hydrocodone mention this. Also someone mentioned in an old post about itching of the scalp being common with oxy. Reason I ask is that last time hubby went to doc he didnt put the charge for the pharmacy on our debit card but instead paid with cash.
Avatar n tn I have been put on Ciprofloxacin 500 mg 2 times a day and Oxycodone for pain. Is this the proper treatment? This morning I called him to explain that I am sick to my stomach much of the time and the pain is from where my 31 tooth was up to the front of my ear. Along with the top and bottom front teeth. The left side of my throat is sore with some discomfront in swallowing. He is calling in a prescription for Flagel, I'm thinking I need to get another opinion?
Avatar n tn I want a pill that can be taken like 4 times per day witha better pain killing ration. I do not want to go to Morphine or something else. I thought about Oxycodone. I really think Oxychontin would be the best but it has gotten really bad publicity lately and I'm not sure if a doctor will give it to me. I do not cry when I am in pain and sometimes it looks like I may not be hurting but I am in pain a lot. My lower back has a L3 & L4 bulge and DET or degenerative disk disease.
Avatar n tn I had a similar issue a while back where I had gone only a couple weeks clean, and was given the same thing for a pulled tooth, except the antibiotics were different, but I was only given 16 of the hydrocodone 10's and since it was such a minimal amount, and I took it as it was prescribed, I had no withdrawals at all. Just kind of craved having more, which sucked, but passed quickly. I"m currently 24 days clean for what seems like the 100th time.
939983 tn?1262528060 I was taking 300+mg of oxycodone a day for the management of the chronic pain associated with adhesive arachnoiditis.
Avatar m tn During this time I also started taking antibiotics for the tooth. I took the Oxycodone and Hydrocodone for a couple weeks and then stopped due to problems with the drug. It was causing urinary retention and I was constipated for long periods of time (4-5 days). About the third week of none stop antibiotics I started to have a very upset stomach. So at this point I quit taking the antibiotic.
614661 tn?1267273924 Hello Ozworks: Other than dependance to the drug, lond term use can lead to poor concentration or memory loss. Some Doctors believe that increased muscle & joint pain is a direct result from long term use. Also, tooth decay and aging skin have been noted in long term use of opiates. Other than that, I don't know of anything else that I have heard of.
Avatar m tn He describes the ear pain as a constant level of pain with stabbing pains that occur anything at random intervals and can last for any length of time. Over the past months we have been to and fro ENT and paedactrics with no success. We have had 4 different sets of antibiotics, a CAT Scan, MRI Scan, Blood tests all blank. Dentist has checked his teeth. They are saying there is now no infection in his ear and suspect its Neuropathic Pain.
Avatar f tn Very toxic for cats.....
1140259 tn?1261954682 If you just stopped now is not the time to use narcotics I would either find a new dentist or find alternatives until your appointment Motrin is more effective for tooth pain then narcotics .Your body wants its fix is you are going to have pain and it will feel worse at first .If you feed into that right now it will be very bad thing .
Avatar n tn Ok so I was taking oxycodone pain killers for about 1 1/2 years for my back issues. 10 mg pills and I was only taking anywhere from 1 to 1 and a 1/2 a day. Never exceeded that. However I started getting nervous that long term probably isn't good on my stomach. So I lowered my dosage last week to 3/4 of a pill for about 5 days then I quit last Friday. That's where the problems started. First 40 hours I felt like I had a strange low grade current running through my arms/legs.
Avatar m tn I so relate. I had a root canal on one side after an awful toothache. Had another toothache two weeks later on the other side. had another root canal. Pain went away for one week. Came back. It turns out it's the tooth next to the last one I had root canal. So i had three root canals in 1 and a half months. And I still have pain in other teeth. Does anyone out there know if this is normal? to have so many in such a short amount of time? It's been soooo painful. Help!
Avatar m tn I am 27 years old , about one year ago I was made aware by my then dentist that it would be in my best interest to have all four of my wisdom teeth extracted. They are not impacted and have come up but not completely, so this leaves a little flaps of skin that sometimes will bleed if I bite down too hard or even from brushing my wisdoms, since they are only like 75% erupted.
Avatar m tn it hurts me a lot and makes facial swelling. Please advice what drugs can reduce pain from the wisdom tooth. i dont want to have the tooth out. best regards!
Avatar n tn They are the same. Roxicodone is just a brand name for oxycodone. The oxycontin is extended release so it helps keep your pain level and then when you have breakthrough pain the instant release oxycodone will hit it hard and fast to get it under control. Only taking the instant release can be bad because you can have a lot of ups and downs, like during sleep it will wear off and you will wake up in a ton of pain and probably in withdrawals, with the ER it will keep you level through the night.
