Oxycodone for dental pain

Common Questions and Answers about Oxycodone for dental pain

oxycontin

Avatar f tn This is a pain managment forum for people that have chronic pain the amount of medication you were prescribed for 1 time use for dental pain is a very very small amount for someone who isnt prescribed opiates on a regular basis and is not opiate tolerant. You were given a one time prescription for dental pain. I dont know why your asking this on a chronic pain mgmt forum? The 5mg oxycodone has NO acetaminophen in it so "caryopteris" doesnt know what shes talking about.
5769649 tn?1373931353 so when they urine tested in may they said it showed i had ,had lartabs in my system but i had not taken any lortabs just the oxycodone and the tylenol 4 for my dental pain ,which they approved for me to take !thats why i was asking if it could show up as lortabs !!
Avatar f tn I took them for a year straight and never had an ache to address but there is alot better for dental pains than Oxys because it's opium and has it's terrible side effects that I for one am experiencing now! But please be careful cuz one pill is just masking the discomfort of another pill.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed oxycodone 15mg after dental surgery, only 7 pills. if I take them as prescribed 1 per day, should I expect to feel physical withdrawal effects after the week is over? I have no previous addictions but I have a family history and I'm scared.
Avatar n tn I had a wisdom tooth & cyst removed 2 days ago (09/19/12)--left lower side. Outpt surgery under general anesthesia. The wisdom tooth was horizontal next to a cyst---the crown of the wisdom tooth was pushing against the tooth next to it. Not in to much pain, I'm taking clindamycin & oxycodone. Since the extraction, I have only taken 4 pain pills. Of course my face is still swollen, which is to be expected, but my tongue on the left side is still numb.
Avatar f tn Taking amoxicillin antibiotics already and my oxycodone is literally taking none of my pain away. Am I getting dry socket??
Avatar f tn Hi everyone :) My Dad recently had a stroke, during which time they found occlusion in one of his legs, causing foot pain. He's currently on Oxycodone. But I'm looking for a better pain management option(s) for him. From what I've been able to ascertain, Vicodin, Celebrex, Darvo- or Percocet have seemed viable options. Can anyone share their opinions on this??? Thanks so much!
Avatar m tn I have had a chronic dental pain(upper molar area) for the last 20 months after a dental procedure. I have tried some non-psychotropic medicines to alleviate the pain. One of them Tramodol helps a bit but has much too strong a sedative effect for it to be practical every day medicine. My oral pain specialist wants to prescribe Pamelor which is an antidepressant. I am not depressed but she says that these medicines can help with pain managemnet. This has me greatly concerened.
Avatar m tn I suffer from neuropathic foot and leg pain and back pain. I went in to the clinic for my monthly visit to get my 2 prescriptions, one for oxycodone and the other for pregabalin. I sensed something was amiss because I was seeing someone new after seeing the same specialist for a year. We started conversing and she was taking a very adversarial position towards me. she then told me that hydrocodone showed up in my urine sample which was not prescribed.
Avatar m tn He describes the ear pain as a constant level of pain with stabbing pains that occur anything at random intervals and can last for any length of time. Over the past months we have been to and fro ENT and paedactrics with no success. We have had 4 different sets of antibiotics, a CAT Scan, MRI Scan, Blood tests all blank. Dentist has checked his teeth. They are saying there is now no infection in his ear and suspect its Neuropathic Pain.
Avatar m tn Sinusitis, refractive errors of the eye, migraine, cluster headaches, brain tumors, high blood pressure, tension headaches, temporal arteritis, pinched cervical spinal nerve, TMJ, poor or disturbed sleep etc are several causes of headaches. Dental pain and ear ache due to infection or impacted wax can cause similar symptoms. Needless to say, a persisting headache should be investigated. Please discuss with your doctor during your appointment. Take care!
939983 tn?1262528060 I was taking 300+mg of oxycodone a day for the management of the chronic pain associated with adhesive arachnoiditis.
Avatar f tn I use three per 12 hour period along with oxycodone, tramadol, neurontin and flexeril for pain. All the talk about Fentanyl has me concerned. BTW I am so thankful for this forum, whether or not one posts one can gain so much valuable information without fear of judgement. Kudos to sandee for keeping it going and thanx to everyone for straight up honesty in your replies to questions.
Avatar n tn They are the same. Roxicodone is just a brand name for oxycodone. The oxycontin is extended release so it helps keep your pain level and then when you have breakthrough pain the instant release oxycodone will hit it hard and fast to get it under control. Only taking the instant release can be bad because you can have a lot of ups and downs, like during sleep it will wear off and you will wake up in a ton of pain and probably in withdrawals, with the ER it will keep you level through the night.
Avatar f tn , where the doctor gives you 2 or 3 days worth of a prescription), oxycodone works well. But, for long term pain (e.g. pain lasting weeks, or chronic pain), some find that although oxycodone "hits the pain hard," it wears off quickly. And some physicians and patients find that to be a recipe for dependence and addiction.
706250 tn?1232453817 I recently was dx with MS and have chronic pain in back, neck, down both legs and in my head, which is where they dx my MS, I have a large mass in my brain tissue and only difference is my spinal fluid is clear.
Avatar n tn But, I am not sure if you have tried Opana yet or not. You could also continue to use oxycodone for BT pain (just in case) or the fentanyl Actiq lollipops. I also use oxycodone for BT pain; however, since switching from Morphine to Opana as my extended release med, I have only need 1 dose of oxycodone for BT pain versus 3 or 4 doses. I know you can't take ER meds so Opana IR with oxycodone/Actiq for BT might work better for you.
Avatar f tn I have the feeling I am in for pain meds for a good long time.. is the reason it is harder to get off of something like Belbuca because it is a 12-hour pain reliever vs shorter pain relief such as with oxycodone?
1527412 tn?1291705056 re having trouble sleeping, you talk to your doctor about the possibility of prescribing you something specificially for that, rather than savign some of your pain meds for that purpose. One last thing - just because your testing is being done through the government - the VA - that does NOT necessarily mean that their tests are top of the line or correct.
Avatar f tn I am trying to get on a pain management. I can not take oxycodone with acetemetaphine due to head aches and the oxycodone pill form gives me the bad mood changes. What about the oxycodone capsule? I have to go to the doctors in a couple of hours and think I may ask her about the capsules but I'd like to hear some input.

Avatar f tn I became addicted to oxycodone 15mg in 2012 after my first back surgery, obviously I was on them while I was in the hospital for 7days after surgery then took them for about 4 days once I got home. I tried to stop and became sick and realized I was addicted. I go to a pain clinic for my chronic pain. Since then I had surgery on my elbow and just 2 weeks ago I had another back surgery. My oxycodone has never been upped in dosage so of course it doesn't help with the pain.
Avatar m tn Oxycodone/roxycodone? Are you taking this? Fentanyl and roxicodone/oxycodone all all opiates. That's a lot if taken together. It just depends...
Avatar n tn It has to do with the FDA schedule that the drugs are on. Hyrocodone and codeine are Schedule III narcotics which can be called in by a doctor. Percocet/oxycodone is a Schedule II narcotic which means that it's a step up on the ladder from hydrocodone in strength and therefore cannot be called in.
