oxycontin

Avatar n tn i've had back pain for about 1 year from a car accident and my doctor will not give me any help at all he's givin me toadol, tramadol, but nothing like hydrocodone, or oxycodone and i don't know why im in a hell of a lot of pain but i don't know what to do?
Avatar f tn hydrocodone or oxycodone? I have not heard good things about oxycodone, so I would be hesitant to try it but I am curious which works better for you. I want to be on the lowest dose possible (of whichever my doctor sees fit) that is sufficient enough to do everyday activities. Is there anything you have tried that you felt works for you that I should ask my doctor about?
Avatar m tn My question(s) are primarily about pain treatment for my neck and back. I will start with what happened, what I was given, what I'm on, and where I'm currently at. After sustaining Bi-Lateral wrist fractures i.e. (Left & Right Triquetrium, & Left and Right Styloid) in addition to a CV3 fracture, I was hospitalized for almost a year at Walter Reed Army Medical Center where I was to recover.
Avatar f tn What do you do for back and hip pain? I have a lot of back and hip pain/pressure when I try to sleep and I've barely slept in 4 weeks. I use a heading pad, warm showers, a body pillow, and sleep with a pillow between my knees for support and nothing seems to help. I'm 24w1d.
939983 tn?1262528060 I was taking 300+mg of oxycodone a day for the management of the chronic pain associated with adhesive arachnoiditis.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone :) My Dad recently had a stroke, during which time they found occlusion in one of his legs, causing foot pain. He's currently on Oxycodone. But I'm looking for a better pain management option(s) for him. From what I've been able to ascertain, Vicodin, Celebrex, Darvo- or Percocet have seemed viable options. Can anyone share their opinions on this??? Thanks so much!
Avatar m tn Oxycontin with oxycodone hcl would be a much better combo for you. The oxycodone is for the breakthrough pain and most people are prescribed both. You could be getting sick from the opioids too. I know they make me very sick until my body full adjusts to the dose, and they do help with the pain. It all depends on the pain management doctor. They do not all treat you the same. In fact, there are very few good pain management clinics. I found this out by experience.
Avatar f tn I became addicted to oxycodone 15mg in 2012 after my first back surgery, obviously I was on them while I was in the hospital for 7days after surgery then took them for about 4 days once I got home. I tried to stop and became sick and realized I was addicted. I go to a pain clinic for my chronic pain. Since then I had surgery on my elbow and just 2 weeks ago I had another back surgery. My oxycodone has never been upped in dosage so of course it doesn't help with the pain.
Avatar f tn Your years of untreated chronic pain, are the reasons for your depression and insomnia. If you do not recieve pain management and get your pain under control and lower your stress, I cannot help you." So here I am, does a formor addict deserve to be in pain for the rest of their lives? Our family's concerns more important than quality of life? Should I spend the next 50 years in pain, unable to enjoy life because I might disappoint someone?
1527412 tn?1291705056 re having trouble sleeping, you talk to your doctor about the possibility of prescribing you something specificially for that, rather than savign some of your pain meds for that purpose. One last thing - just because your testing is being done through the government - the VA - that does NOT necessarily mean that their tests are top of the line or correct.
725248 tn?1316162245 I have to make a correction I had stated I was taking 10 --15mg oxycodone a day for break through pain, I looked at the bottle today and come to find out I am only taking 8 of the oxycodone a day. Am still considering calling my pain doctor and letting him know that my post op pain plan is not working. I really don't know what else is out there.
Avatar f tn Have been diagnosed with cirrhosis, hepatitis C, numerous bulging discs, degenerative back disease. now am looking for a safe pain medicine to relieve the back pain. What are my options if any. Now taking Vicodin 5/500. am aware of need to stay away from aspirin, Tylenol, etc. surgery is not something I will opt for. Please respond as I am in dire need of relief.
5341133 tn?1372011906 I'm only 7days in off oxycodone due to a couple back surgeries and my back is killing me. I'm feeling every little ache it's driving me crazy. I'm starting to get real fidgeting. I did take a Xanax last night and slept good. I got up took a little walk today to move around. Funny thing is that's why I started taking the oxycodone (by rx) because I was so scared of being in pain.

Avatar m tn I have had about 12 years of chronic pain, slowly over the years I have progressed to about 8-10 oxycodone 10/325 a day along with klonopin. 20816447 tn?1527987648 I was a teachers aide in special ed and one of my students attack me resulting in fracturing my L4/L5/S1 also I have rheumatoid arthritis anyway I was put on 60mg morphine er twice a day and for the breakthrough oxycodone 15 mg every 4/6 hours. I was doing fine then he started lowering my meds. He put me on 1 60mg of morphine er and oxycodone 15mg every 6 hours. My pain is horrible and put me back in bed.
Avatar n tn It has to do with the FDA schedule that the drugs are on. Hyrocodone and codeine are Schedule III narcotics which can be called in by a doctor. Percocet/oxycodone is a Schedule II narcotic which means that it's a step up on the ladder from hydrocodone in strength and therefore cannot be called in.
Avatar f tn I have been taking vicodin and valium for over a year now and I really want to get off of it and for the pain to just go away. My pain is a result of weak hip flexors and a weak core. I have been trying to strengthen these muscles but the pain is still there (I do light workouts 3 to 4 times a week and stretch several times a day). I am considering approaching my doctor about some form of steroids to aid in the muscle growth process. Does anyone have experience or thoughts on my situation?
217599 tn?1202850952 my husband just had major back surgery, and the dr. prescribed oxycodone for the pain. he really needs it, but we are wondering how long he can take it before he becomes addicted. not that he wants to take it, he just can't stand the pain without it. his incision is 10 inches long, down the middle of his back. he is also itching a lot. could that be from the drug?
Avatar f tn Since then I have been taking 30mg oxycodone 4 times a day with vicoden 240 per month for break through pain. 3 weeks ago i stopped the oxy and have been just using the vicoden for the pain. How long do I have to go through the oxy withdrawl. I sweat and freeze all day. My legs cramp and I can't sleep without bad dreams waking me up every hour.
10913038 tn?1424227711 So I have severe back pain and my dr. Has prescribed me a low dose of oxycododone, 5 mg to be exact. He says its safe to take during pregnancy and while Breastfeeding as long as its taken as needed and not regularly but im hesitant to put any narcotic in my body while pregnant. I'm sitting here in agony with a pill in my hand debating whether or not to take it. Has anyone else taken it during pregnancy and had any issues related to it?
Avatar f tn oxycodone, valium, tylenol (650mg) and ibuprofen (200mg). at the hospital the tylenol and ibuprofen were scheduled meds and i was only given oxycodone and valium when i requested them. any ideas on when i should take each? need to take tylenol every 6 hours. should i take oxy with tylenol, or valium with tylenol? or with ibuprofen (every 4 hours). i dont want to take more than i need to.
Avatar f tn Hi Nikkiaro. I just finished reading your comments. So, you say you're taking 5mg of oxycodone four times a day. One of my family takes this medication too, 4 x/a day about 6 hours apart. She writes down the time every time she takes a tablet. She is in chronic pain also in her back. She has discovered a homeopathic medication called Hypericum( 1M). She says she finds it helpful as the oxycodone is wearing off and before its time to take another oxycodone.
Avatar n tn They are the same. Roxicodone is just a brand name for oxycodone. The oxycontin is extended release so it helps keep your pain level and then when you have breakthrough pain the instant release oxycodone will hit it hard and fast to get it under control. Only taking the instant release can be bad because you can have a lot of ups and downs, like during sleep it will wear off and you will wake up in a ton of pain and probably in withdrawals, with the ER it will keep you level through the night.
1855076 tn?1337115303 I had been off everything for a while but recently went back to oxycodone 50 mg a day. This is for RSD in my hand from a joint implant that didn't work out. Now having an acute problem, the back pain is just not covered by the dosage I'm on. I was given 10 mg. flexaril to help. This is one of the reasons I wanted off pain meds ... because when something acute comes up, you either have to up your dose or suffer it out. Pain management is such a difficult path.
Avatar m tn t take these as i need something that will take away the pain and make my act normal LOL... so he gave me oxycodone 5MG IR... for the first time in my life a pill that took away the pain and didnt make me feel off and i was able to function.... I have a really great Doctor whom i talk to once every few weeks to let him know how I'm doing... 3 weeks ago i took the last bottle of acetaminophen with codeine and flushed them down the toilet!
