Avatar m tn I know the answer to that question but im not going to tell you and Im not trying to be mean, I am in day 13 Of suboxone withdrawal, and I can honesly say I never want to touch an opiate again, Are you just not ready to be clean or do you have a serious medical condition? You cant keep switching poisons to avoid W/D it will catch up to you one day.Im curious what your story is, Do you not think being chained to these drugs is the most awful feeling that there is?
Avatar f tn The half-life of a drug is how long it takes for half of it to be eliminated from the bloodstream. Hope that helps.
6298176 tn?1380134459 It has a very long half life, though I can't give you specifics. The dose and how long you were on it does factor in. Your doctor should be able to help you with your questions on this.
Avatar m tn Drugs in general have what is called a half-life in metabolism to active form, and also a half-life for the extraction by the kidneys of the active form. A half-life is simply the time taken to remove/destroy one half of the drug. If T = 3hrs is the half-life to eliminate the active form of a particular drug, then once T hrs have elapsed you have only 50% of the active form left. Once another T hours have elapsed, ie 6hrs, there will be only 25% of the active form left.
Avatar n tn to the original question, for say a urine drug test, a regular user of oxycodone or other opioids it will take 3-6 days to leave your body completely, aim for a week to be safe, the half-life of oxycodone, meaning half the drug out of your blood stream after taking a dose is roughly 3-4 hours and the "high" lasts around 5 hours.
424839 tn?1268186246 2 months later had car accident were i broke 2 vert ibra and cutt of half my nose.
459155 tn?1264008142 I just got my rx of suboxone today...I've been taking subutex for a week. The prescribing dr thinks that I should take these for 6 months but after talking to a friend that is on sub now, I am NOT staying on this for 6 months!! I am going to come up with my own taper. My question is.... I think avisg explained to me last week what the half life meant and it's around 36-72 hours...is that how long this will stay in my system? Will I start to feel w/d's then?
Avatar f tn I started doing Oxycodone (Percs) about a year and a half ago socially. Never for pain. And I LOVED them. I love the feeling they give me. They make me feel happy and carefree and just making dealing with every day life a little easier. Throughout the past year and a half of my life, it's gotten out of control. I can't go a single day without a perc. And I get them illegally. The few days out of the year and a half its been I haven't had any and it was pure hell.
Avatar m tn It has an extremely long half life, meaning 24 -36 hours after you take a dose, you STILL have half of the previous dose still in your system. Taking more methadone only worsens this half life effect, and can result in both cardiac rhythm problems and respiratory stoppage. Do NOT take any more methadone than you are supposed to be taking. If I were you, I would call my doctor and ask him what to do until you see him.
Avatar n tn what is the half life of oxycodone in cats? I've heard it works well for pain in cats. I'm trying to get more information on what may help my 12 year old cat. I'd like to have my questions in order before I pay my/her vet?
Avatar f tn On 10/13, I had total knee replacement. They put me on lots of pain meds including morphine, percocet and oxycontin. I am home and have to go to PT twice weekly which is quite painful. I went to my surgeon on 11/2 and he said to wean off of oxycontin and oxycodone. He didn't explain how to go about that. My husband cut the oxycontin in half and I took that once at night and once in the morning for 3 days.
Avatar n tn The Suboxone contains an opiate itself (partial agonist) - so it will hold off withdrawal from oxycodone, but won't cure an opiate addiction itself. As you'll have to stop taking the Suboxone and the opiate it contains at some point. So having a proper tapering plan is still a requirement and difficult to do if you aren't use to an opiate with such a long half-life (it's quite different from oxycodone as far as dosing and effect).
Avatar m tn About 2 months ago I was introduced to Oxycodone 30mg. I started taking half a pill in the evening and now I am up to 3 a night and i take them all at once. I have been doing this for about 2 months and did not think i had a problem until the other day when my stash ran out. I had no idea how badly i needed these pills, i tracked down my friend the next day and bought some more just so i could regain normalcy. I obviously need to quit these things.
Avatar m tn Well, as one could imagine over the years my doses have turned from viodic, to oxycodone to fentanyl patches and oxycodone. Now I have beeen taking 15 patches of 100 mcg of the patch and 300 5mg tabs of oxycodone because of supposed arthritis in my back.. Now I am wanting off of these meds for good, My back pain still feels very real as I am now day 6 into my last patch and ocycodone pill. I went to the ER two nights ago because I feet so bad coming off of those drugs. What can I do.
Avatar f tn So me and my wife have been taking oxycodone for about a year and a half now. We were taking about 120mg each a day and then about 8 months ago we cut down to 60mg each and still are doing that much each. We crush and snort them. We used to do a whole 30 at a time each but now I have us sharing a 15mg about 8 times a day so its a small dose but doesn't get us high. It just keeps us from feeling like ****!
Avatar m tn I had snapped and fessed up to my girls mom ive been using painkillers for 1 and a half yrs now. She had leg surgery and was on oxy too but stopped as she took it normally. She gave me an Ambien and i fell out like a tired 2 yr old. I only got 4 hrs but it felt great. I looked at the bottle and did some research it appears to be habit forming and effects the brain.
Avatar m tn Anger is a side effect of antidepressants for some people. Remember that side effects vary by the individual and by the drug. And also, if your depression was only mild, I wonder why you went on medication instead of using therapy and lifestyle changes to get you over? Did you try it and it didn't work?
Avatar m tn Howdy, I've been dealing with major back and neck pain for the last week. Yesterday around 11a, I took a 5mg Flexeril and boy did it do wonders. After a brief nap, most of my pain greatly subsided. The following hours, about 10p, I did see an uptick in stiffness but nothing compared to the pain before the Flexeril. I know Flexeril has an unusually long half-life, about 18 hrs.
2080475 tn?1332126191 decided to quit taking it on a monday felt fine all week untill sun when i went into serious withdrawl! so as far as half life im not sure? but you can bet i was back on it mon! so i guess it was in my system for 6 days after i stopped. p.s.
Avatar f tn I was on suboxone one time and my doctor explained to me about the half life and i remember him saying it has a 36 hours
535882 tn?1396576685 whats the half life for syntriod. about how much time does it take to build up in you and also leave your system?
425312 tn?1279966179 METHADONE-- Methadone is considered more difficult to get off, because the withdrawal symptoms are more difficult than even heroin. The reason for this is because of the synthetic opiates' storage in your tissue--and more importantly, the half-life of Methadone is (on average) 25 hours (13-47 hours), with peak absorption in 4 hours.
386968 tn?1217351972 for me- 5 to 6 hours. They have a very short half life everyones different.
Avatar n tn I'm currently trying to help a relative taper off of Oxycodone 80/625. She was taking 160 (2)/day and over a two week period is successfully down to 80 (1)/day. I don't know much about these, but from what I (think) I understand, aren't they time released??? She wants to go down to 40 (1/2) /day BUT my concern is - if these are time released, and the pill is broken in half then isn't the potency increased - no longer time released?
Avatar m tn You need to contact your doctor and ask him what you should do. 30 mg of oxycodone IR is the strongest dose of oxycodone that they make in instant release form. So your replacement medication is not winky dinky. Therefore, please contact your doctor and/or pharmacist and let us know what you find out.
Avatar f tn Of course Percocet is an immediate release formulation of oxycodone and thus has a shorter half-life than the OxyContin. Detoxification from oxycodone depends on your level of pain and your desire to stop taking it. This can take as little as seven days or possibly up to 3 months if you gradually change the regimen of your medication.
Avatar f tn I know she would never really want to live that life. Since I knew that when we had a big fight about 2 and a half years back, I decided to let her go feeling that was the best thing I could ever do for her. She really tried to help me to find a better life then i knew, god bless her, but my cards were stacked. Pretty much anytime I hear from her now she's all lit up. It can just be a text and I can tell from how she's talking on text that she's lit.
