oxcarbazepine side effects

Have been taking Carbamezapine and lately Gabapentine, which both cause Erectile Disfunction. Have read that Oxcarbazepine does not have this side effect. Have not convinced my neurologist to let me switch meds. What success have people had using Oxcarbazepine for TN, and does it also cause ED? I don't want to use either carbamezapine or gabapentine if possible.

I just started OXCARBAZEPINE. I am really sick. I am on 600mg at night. I woke up this morning with a headache and I have felt like I have the flu all day. I cannot eat or drink anything. I'm exausted. Does anyone have experience with this med? How long will these symptoms last? I have to somehow work tomorrow. I am getting so tired of being sick and tired. I'm not depressed. I'm just coming back from hell. I had major surgery. It made me have a severe manic episode.

You should not play around with your medications yourself. I do not know of any pill that combines both of those drugs in one tablet. You can ask your doctor, but I really doubt it exists. If you're better now on the pills, it means they're working. It's a trap many people fall into--"I'm feeling better, so I don't need the meds anymore". It ***** to have to take multiple pills a day, but if that's what keeps you healthy, that's what you need to do.

I looked at Zithromax side effects, they vary by the dosage, single or multiple doses, doses in combination with another drug, and are listed as pre-marketing trials and post-marketing reports. Rhythm issues were reported less than 1% of the time in pre-marketing trials, and also in post-marketing reports. Post marketing reports are apparently voluntary and often include things clearly not related to the drug.

You really have to speak to your psychiatrist and doctor directly about medication interactions especially with anything that is as strong a medication as Suboxone. This is what I could find as per the interaction between Suboxone and Trileptal but all this should be discussed with your psychiatrist who could (and should be doing) a search on the physician's only database all doctors have access to.

All i get from my Neurologist is these are side effects that will eventually go away. Because i never know when these symptoms will come on too strong I have missed a lot of days at work during my probation period. I just want a normal life or to be my old self. Any suggestions? Feeling depressed and unmotivated to make plans...

You can't always blame the drugs. Oxcarbazepine has different effects and side effects in different people. I also use it and has no issues YET, except the grogginess and drowsiness in the first week. Hope we all do good.

I am allergic to it. (my rash is seen in my photos if you need it). For me, the side effects are worse than TN itself for me, but others have said it's life changing. Other people have listed Trileptal (Oxcarbazepine), Neurontin (Gabepentin), Elavil (Amitriptyline) and Lyrica (Pregabalin) as some alternatives. I am currently on Lyrica + Cymbalta. I can't say that it's working but still playing with dosages.

If the side effects look scary, go look up the full side effects profile for an OTC drug you use often (like ibuprofen), which will give you an idea of how scary the full side effects profiles sound.

I just started taking oxcarbazepine 9 days ago and I built up to 300 mg,no high not even close.Not like with other drugs like oxycontin, were with in 30 min you get a buzz.I guess you have to take higher doses if thats were you want to go,but I dont know.

i am confused now because this is rather sudden and my son is used to the valparin now and has no side effects as such. the doctor says that this is for better seizure control since eeg is abnormal but the eeg has been abnormal for the past 8 years then why now? i am all confused and when i told the doctor i will change medication only during vacation time so that i can moniter him.

Within the last two months, I have been experiencing burning and pain in my right foot (including toes). I am taking oxcarbazepine, is this a side affect or does it mean I need to increase the dose.

He too has nocturnal seizures arising from his frontal lobe. These meds come with terrible side effects, good luck finding the right one for your son. I know that on topamax my son had issues with memory and concentration, he couldn't even spell "if" when he was 12 ! I knew that something was wrong! Not all meds are gonna work for your son, but try more until you find the best one. Summer is a good time to try new meds.

With all 3 of those meds, and especially Oxcarbazepine, you can find discussions online about amenorrhea, which means your periods stop. You might want to discuss this with your doctor, as websites suggest, if you're taking these medications and your menstrual period changes. Best wishes.

Anyone had any withdrawal side effects relating to Trileptal? Any suggestions in dealing with it? Anyone who has dealt with the same thing? My symptoms are that I am having horrible anxiety, insomnia and irritability since reducing my dosage of Trileptal this week. Backstory: I am switching from Trileptal to Lamictal over a long period of time.

d want to increase it, not decrease it. A Seroquel increase is probably a better thing to try first. And side effects often decrease after a couple of weeks. If it's available where you are, Latuda (lurasidone) just got approval for bipolar depression. It might be too expensive, though. Also, have you tried lamotrigine? Abilify is another good suggestion.

My doctor switched me to oxcarbazepine and that stopped the issue. The one extra oxygen molecule somehow helped the situation. Ask your doctor to make the adjustment and see if that helps.

I have found that the medecines the docs say work the best are the ones that keep me coming back to them, shelling out another $100, getting another boat load of side effects and no releif. Russian roulette with a pill. The docs must be suckered by the drug companies, then sucker the patients. 15 meds, depression worse and the latest quack wants me to take another pill.

I’m on levetiracetam aka keppra and clobazam aka onfi. When I was on oxcarbazepine (trileptal) and levetiracetam (keppra) I started having these weird headaches where I would lose my vision, hearing, smell, and coordination, but I could still speak and feel. The doctors are pretty much stumped. Has anyone ever had a situation like this?

Many AD's have side effects that affect the libido, guess it applies to both sex es. As far as I know all AD's have this drastic effect . Hopefully you'll find one that's OK for you . Good luck.

Yes, I've only been on it a week and I experience the muscle aches and bilateral flank pain as well. In addition, insomnia!
