My daughter has a bipolar disorder II with hypoomanic features,and I was also told she was mental ill,antisocial personality disorder,borderline personality disorder,signs and symptoms of schizophrenis,oppositional defiant disorder. She have been in and out of hospital and on a lot of different meds. Seroquel, risperadae, Lithem ,Zyprexz,hydroxyz pam, oxcarbazepine and now on 15 mg. of abilify. She never tell the true, and will steal food. she is not doing nothing in school.
I just started taking oxcarbazepine 9 days ago and I built up to 300 mg,no high not even close.Not like with other drugs like oxycontin, were with in 30 min you get a buzz.I guess you have to take higher doses if thats were you want to go,but I dont know.
My new doctor thinks I've been misdiagnosed for depression/anxiety. He says this based on everything I described to him and because general SSRI's just cause me more problems than good (high anxiety and side effects). He says I'm not BiPolar, but that I have a mood disorder, on the BiPolar Spectrum... maybe unipolar. He says he does not know exactly what kind of mood disorder yet, just that I have one. So he's trying me out on Lamictal.
There is a depression forum. You sound as if you're truly bipolar, as opposed to one of the new-fangled and phony bipolar characterizations, such as bipolar 2 and the like. If you're truly bipolar, there is no cure we know of. There are psychiatrists who treat the whole person and will check for other possible problems, such as hormonal problems and sugar imbalances, but they tend to be expensive and not affiliated with insurance companies. So I found out about 2 years ago that I suffer from bipolar disorder. I suffer as a rapid cycler and it is one of the hardest things to control. Has anyone out there found meds that actually work? I was on lithium but the med its self scares me that I will not take it. So if anyone has suggestions please help.
