ovulation period and difficulties in predicting ovulation

I know the safe period factor in the regular period structure. But how to identify the same in delayed period and also to identify the ovulation time. Please advise on which dates we can consummate so that my wife has more probability of getting conceived.

After a year of using the calendar method, I started taking temps and opk I realized that the calendar method was not predicting ovulation correctly for me. Cervical mucous will be the consistency of egg whites during your most fertile time. A really good book that explains it all in detail (with pictures of what cervical mucous looks like during different times of they cycle) is "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. That's the only time it happens when ur ovulating so if ur cramping its because ur ovulating or u have some type of infection

Ok i been on here for a few months, and still trying to figure out my Ovulation tracker, I know it shows my days after I ovulate, and how long my cycle days are. Yet it don't really give me a rough idea when I might ovulate next, even when I put in my periods dates. I do use OPKs, but i m in a position I m not able to get anymore. My last ovulation was 11 days later then a usual ovulation of two weeks like i AF Sept 8, and ovulated on Oct 3-4.

As cycle days can vary from woman to woman (and for me, month to month!) I tested every day from end of a period to the start of a new period to find out where my low/high/peak ovulation days were for the first two/three months until I could determine a rough pattern/no of days for ovulation to focus on for following months. Hormones are most concentrated when passing your first urine of the day so I stuck to first thing in the morning for tests.

I think its 12-14 days after the start of your period. But what id do to be on the safe side is het the ovulation tests from the store.

but i need some input please I had sex with a friend the June 14th and 15th , the first day of her period was on the 2nd or 3rd, she cannot recall. She says she had an 8 day mestruation. Hi hun there is no way to tell exactly when we ovulate.Some women can tell from their bodies when they ovulate,some have pain in their ovarys.I usually do.I have tried ovulation sticks that you place in your urine but unfortunately they are not always that good.You can use a chart and take your temp every morning and work it out from there as thats probably the best way as your temp will rise slightly just before ovulation.My cycle is 26-28 days so i ovulate between 9-16 days from cd1.

I tried ovulation trackers and I felt like I was flushing my money away lol. My doc said the best thing is to take your temp after you have rested for a while and keep track of those temps. When you see a small spike in your temp you are probably ovulating. I gave up on all that though and just made sure I had sex when my calendar said I was ovulating. Good luck!

But yes, the difficulty is predicting that ovulation window (which is what I call it). If you think it is day 14 into 15 and then believe you are safe, then on days 17, you have sex when you are REALLY ovulating. You have a problem. But in general, once the ovulation window is closed, pregnancy does not occur.

A woman with a clockwork 28-day cycle would be at her most fertile on day 14, but sperm can live 5 or 6 days in her system, so she would need to be careful from day 8 onward until about day 16. But there is really no predicting ovulation. Women with irregular cycles could ovulate whenever. Don't use trying to predict ovulation for birth control.

Medhelp has a great tracker. The OPK tests are great for predicting ovulation 24-48 hours in advance. And you can take your basal body temp each day and that will tell you (after the fact) if you ovulated. Good luck!
