I started collecting quotes that were meaningful and/or helpful to me in my struggles. I know some people think these things are cheezey or cliches, but I know that looking back over some of these quotes has helped give me much needed boosts once in awhile.

Avatar f tn I so agree it's now time for me to "work with the addiction, instead of against the addiction" That starts NOW!!! And you know a lot my mama bear, and ALWAYS make perfect sense to me. Sonrissa, you bet it was "sofa king" important, it takes time for things to sink into my brain....
Avatar m tn ok, I'm a huge David Sedaris fan (a man who is recovering from his own addictions to pot, alcohol, and cigarettes, coincidentally). His occasionally dark, self-deprecating humor makes me cry with laughter. In his last book, he wrote a hilarious essay about a very "sober" topic: addiction. (Disclaimer: I don't mean to trivialize addiction in some of the quotes below- it's very serious, but it helps me to laugh at the "voice" of the addict within us.

Avatar m tn m a male and I have managed to control my eating problem to a great extent by exercise and will power. However overcoming addiction to codeine and other narcotics is far harder. Avatar m tn And before anyone says this, I am seeing my dr. tomorrow. But I wanted to see if anyone has had experience overcoming ambien addictions. Avatar m tn Addiction is categorzied by maladaptive behavior that is typically out of character for the person, including doing things that are harmful, without any regard for the consequences, in order to get the drug. Addiction includes mental cravings for the meds, where dependency is almost always just physical in nature. It's important for you to determine which category you would fit into, if indeed this is even a concern for you.
Avatar n tn It was given out like aspirin. It is very unfortunate that it became a schedule one drug, with the drug enforcement administration tracking down phjysicians who prescribe it. Valium does degrade situational awareness as well as intellectual acuity, and may interfere with driving safety, although that is more of a problem for the first time user. I have used it (prescribed by a physician) rarely, when under extreme stress, and then only for a day or two, and never became addicted.
