Avatar f tn I have been going to therapy and my therapist has been really helpful with me in dealing with my fear of death. First we have to accept the fact that we have a fear and accept that is all it is a FEAR.....We have to learn to not give into the fear because then we spend our lives freaking out over everything and we don't live, we worry. One of the things that my therapist has me do is write my fears down in a journal and it does help. Just getting them out helps.

3159640 tn?1430907300 Hello --I am an OCD sufferer who has worked hard to overcome HIV fears, but every once in a while I get really overcome by fear. I had a small fresh scrape on the side of my hand that was reddish and a smear of blood. At some point I washed my hands. I forgot about it, did not put a bandaid on it. I then went to a party where I meet and shook hands with several new people. One guy shook my hand pretty hard, twice. Another guy had his leg bandaged up for cellulitis.

When this happens I'm paralyzed by fear and can't deal with even the simplest things much less the more important things such as work. I've been on medication on and off for about 20yrs and I realize now that I will be needing more than that to help me overcome this debilitating illness, therapy and lots of it.
Avatar f tn Hi again officer Amber! I cannot stress enough how amazing you've done!!!! You REALLY don't give yourself enough credit! Look at how far you've gotten and all you've overcome! From the fear of going in the very first day for training, to muddling THROUGH the training despite some rough anxious days, to now two months on the job!!!! That's incredible!!! I think you need to focus on the fact that you DO have anxiety, and you WILL from time to time have bad days.

Avatar f tn We have an HIV forum here at Medhelp. Have you posted your question there yet? You've had all the tests you need and so did your partner. Of course you know you don't have HIV. I do understand that this can be a huge fear for some people and hard to believe you don't have it even when all of the tests say you absolutely do not. If you can't get over your fear I would recommend seeing a counselor to help you with this.
Avatar f tn ) I was finally able to break the fear that crippled me for easily a decade.
