Avatar n tn I have had a toothache/facepain for over two weeks, I know I need to go and see a dentist but I have a great fear of going because of cetain circumstances that happened while going to the dentist as a child. I have been taking advil for the pain and most times it is tolerable but now it seems to be getting worse as it is keeping me awake at night.
Avatar n tn The anxiety produced when confronted with height creates what is near panic. The fear only exhibits itself primarily on the ground and outside.. I do not have a fear of flying in a jet airplane or inside tall buildings. It has become a real problem for me to enjoy skiing. I'm ok as long as I don't have any major "drop offs" thus limiting the area's where I can ski. I've tried to overcome the fear with little success. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
Avatar m tn Hello again....I would say that the fear of confrontation is not a mental illness. It is actually very common. When we think we are going to be reprimanded for something or confronted about something our adrenaline and other chemicals start to kick in and we are in that "fight" for "flight" mode. This is a very common thing for people even without OCD.
Avatar m tn Agreed. But some of these fears can be overcome. Puppies and chicks tend to be fast moving. Find the right kind of puppy at a pound or store, and I bet his response will be different.
Avatar m tn have ben up to around 190 pounds b4. very strong. and have ben in a physical confrontation with a much bigger and guy and won easily. however i was very intimidated. he hit me first and i sort of blacked out and won the battle. but for some reason im so afraid of a fight or disagreement. not that i wanna fight but it would be nice to atleast have the nerve to speak up or do what i have to to keep from getting stepped on by other people.
Avatar f tn To overcome anxiety, one must understand the logic of why the brain is feeling threatened, it sends messages to the body saying its under threat. New pathways need to be created to overcome the old programming. So for example, if you panic over a fear of flying, you must start flying and let the brain realise that its all okay, and reprogram the thoughts. However, the fear of dying can't really be practiced. Some buddhists meditate in a morgue as it is the closest we can get to dying.
Avatar f tn Under suitable conditions light falling on the eye may render visible certain objects within the eye itself. So, this type of problem make an issue after some time so as soon as possible you go for the eye care specialist. I hope your problem overcome early.
Avatar m tn I become so frightened during the period of time where I try to fall asleep that I simply do not do it. I find myself finding excuses to stay awake. It's not the sleep itself that scares me, it's the part where I lay in the dark and the silence. I'm afraid of all kinds of crazy things that don't bother me when I am not trying to sleep. I can't keep anything that is bothering me, any kinds of irrational fears, or any unusual superstitions out of my head.
Avatar n tn I had a traumatic experience when I was a young child which left me with the fear of uncontrolled bleeding. I have attempted to overcome this fear through therapy and work in medical and dental offices. However, it returns to paralyze me at times. I need a molar extracted due to an abcess and the fear of bleeding has returned. I have had extractions in the past and obviously I survived but the anxiety continues to be huge.
Avatar f tn worried about the attack, sometimes I thought of just hack care it, go enjoy myself and started to plan something but my fear or worried will just come naturally ,my head will start to be very tense as if my blood pressure is shooting high, like I'm going to get stroke? I don't know why, I kept telling myself it's ok just relax, but the horrid feeling make me stop my planning again, my children is sad that I always disappoint them. I'm very sad too.
Avatar m tn I was trying to get assurance on one symptoms, another symptoms I will pickup from the internet, like this cycle continuing, While browsing the anxiety I came across a word Variant Angina(which is without blockage, your arteries will go to temporary spasm/stop blood) I somehow manage to overcome this fear after lot of efforts but, one setback came, that, the way to diagnose is to hyperventilate the patient & do EKg. Since then i got more feared.
Avatar m tn My son who is around 3.2 yrs has a constant fear of winds and rains .This fear comes from the fact that a couple of days back our window broke due to heavy rains and winds. And one of the glasses from the window fell on my wife's leg leaving a deep cut with blood oozing out. He was an audience to all these events and from that day on he has manifested the fear of winds. Now with the slighest of winds he gets scared making him un easy and cranky.
Avatar f tn Ok I'm a 15 year old male who has had many shots in life. Not in recent past though. My cousins always talked about fear of needles, and until that time I didn't mind them. Now they are the scariest things. At least I think remember I haven't had a shot recently except for at the dentist. I have readabout passing out when recieving a shot, although would that happen to me since I never have before? Do numbing solutions work?
Avatar f tn As you said, the newfound fear of anxiety can be attributed to the fact that you had panic attacks during your last flight. It is similar, in a way, to agoraphobia. For your next flight, you can ask you doctor if you can take 1mg of Xanax to see if that helps. However, Xanax is relatively short-acting (effects last about 5 hours). Klonopin is probably a better option. It is very similar to Xanax, but it lasts a lot long (10-12 hours).
Avatar f tn I have such an intense phobia of fly larvae that the very thought of this ever happening to me makes me want to die. I don’t know what to do.

Avatar f tn Since my teenage years I have had a HIV anxiety, I never did any risky activities because of fear of becoming infected. Recently I went in for a massage and the massage lady gave me a handjob at the end and nothing else, she was not a escort only offered a handjob. After I started to feel high anxiety that maybe I got infected by the handjob but every website said it is no risk, that made me feel better for a few days now my OCD kicked in.

Avatar m tn their is no chance of HIV without condom breakage...to overcome your fears ...take a test....taking a test can come out of fear 99% than googing...
Avatar f tn What is the best way to overcome anxiety that is rooted in the fear of disease
Avatar f tn So here's my story. For as long as I can remember I have always had an anxiety disorder. I have been on lots of medicine and haven't found one that actually works. My anxiety is at an all time high. Five months ago I had unprotected sex. Immediately after I began to stress out. 50 days after the encounter I paid $280 for a hiv RNA test. Then I took five oraquicks. Then got a blood antibody test at 88 days. Then at four months took another oraquick. All my results have been negative.

Avatar f tn I am going through this. I have ocd.
Avatar f tn s getting to the point, where I try to avoid confrontation and keep most of my feelings and opinions bottled up (even more than usual since I don't really let people know how I feel) just to avoid the crying scene. I read that this could be a sign of depression (the excessive crying), however, I don't feel that I am depressed. But just to be on the safe side, could it be a sign of depression? Thanks in advance.
