Ovarian cysts while on iud

Common Questions and Answers about Ovarian cysts while on iud

Avatar n tn I am suffering from the same exact symptoms Ive even had to go to the ER twice for pain relievers that did not work! Ive been diagnosed with ovarian cysts on my right side. Dull stomach pains and severe lower back pain, and pain down thighs. This also has made me very stressed out causing insomnia. Also my mother had this when she was my age as well and she said it stopped after a while. To make you feel any better I did read that 90% of women will go through this in their lifetime.
514428 tn?1287602056 I feel like I'm 60 years old at times because I can't walk or stand up straight. Do you think that with the IUD still in, its putting pressure on the cyst causing the pain to get worse again? I'm making an appointment soon with a different doctor since mine doesn't seem to listen to me.
Avatar f tn My gynea removed the Mirena IUD coil as it was suspected that it was the cause off the cysts. My file at the gynea is filled with reported cases of ovarian cysts, all on the right ovary - the gynea counted 7 in total from 2009 till November 2011 - and those were only the cases that were reported to her. I remember 3 other cases since 2009 where I had cysts that ruptured (by now I know the pain) while I was at home. My question is - what can be done to fix this?
960507 tn?1384170819 Many women continue to get subsequent cysts. Some will get a couple and then it stops while others keep on going like you. If your issue is only with the one ovary keep in mind that losing it will not affect your fertility - your other side will pick up the slack. After this next surgery I would still encourage you to do the birth control, it could be that your body needs a little more time on the hormones before you stop ovulating.
356929 tn?1246393356 Had abdominal CT scan in August (to check liver) and was told that I have fatty liver and ovarian cysts (minor notation on report). Side pain has gotten worse and enzymes still elevated. Had second abdominal CT scan to get a better look at liver and pancreas. Was told everything looked okay (still have fatty liver) but the ovarian cysts have grown.
Avatar f tn The Dr told me I had an ovarian cyst. Possibly could have been from the IUD. after being on the pill for a while I got the mirena and was sick and crazy hormonal all the time. I had that removed and got the copper one again to notice it just created pain in my uterus and never felt right.
724384 tn?1230920549 Could it be the IUD causes the enlarged ovary and cyst on the ovary. I'm scared to think its that..I got prego on birth control. And the IUD has stopped that. I dont want to get prego again. I need to know if I could get the IUD back after all this is going on or is it to risky? I know I asked a lot of questions, and some may seem a lil stupid. But I know nothing about this. I also want to know what will they do about the enlarged ovary? Will I have to have surgery?
Avatar f tn Mirena was more hormones, worse periods etc. paraguard gave me ovarian cysts I had reactions to the copper it started to embed in my uterus .
Avatar f tn I've had laparoscopy recently and that's because the cysts twisting the ovary. I had terrible pain on my back and stomach only the day before and headed to ER because I couldn't hold the pain anymore. After the surgery the docs find out that my IUD somehow skip its place and pierced my left ovary along with its fallopian which caused serious internal bleeding while the cyst was in my right ovary. So I think if it's getting unbearable, I will suggest to go to ER right away.
1408770 tn?1283216803 Cysts CAN actually stop periods completely, and some of ur symptoms can be caused by having cysts. However, ALL ur sypmtoms r related to pregnancy! I would say u were pregnant! But Im not a doctor, just a mum of 2 who has ovarian cysts! If u want a more informed decision I suggest posting ur question on the "PCOS - polycystic ovarian syndrome" there r lots of women who have had cysts for a lot longer than me and they give great advice.
Avatar f tn While I was about 6 months pregnant, around August of 2010, I recieved a letter from my OBGYN stating that I was HPV positive, and that I showed abnormal cells. I scheduled another exam, where the doctor confirmed abnormal cells but she couldn't get a "good enough picture" of what we were looking at. At my 6 weeks check-up after my son was born, I asked the doctor when we would be able to complete another exam to determine what was wrong.
Avatar f tn About 4 yrs ago, I went through infertility treatments, and as a result, had several ovarian cysts, which resolved itself. Baby #2 is now 6 mos old (no fertility treatment needed... go figure!). With this baby, I've been breastfeeding her almost exclusively. I say "almost", because we do supplement with formula as I am not able to pump enough during the day at work to get enough to fill her up.
Avatar n tn whoa! That much drama? Now, :S I'm scared! I am supposed to be getting one implanted in. I heard it only bleeds for two months then you get ur life back to normal I never knew it was that much pain afterwards....
Avatar n tn i have had constant yeast and bacterial infections since i have been on the shot. Now i am on the IUD, and they both use the same hormones. this is just great (sarcastically speaking) to hear all of this about the IUD as well. i was really hoping after MANY (too many to count) years of dealing with the constant infections that my problems are not going to go away.
Avatar n tn I saw this posted on a website about side effects of IUDs: The Mirena IUD can cause ovarian cysts. Some women using the Mirena stop bleeding altogether. Usually their menstrual periods return when the IUD is removed. Mirena can cause weight gain, headaches, increased blood pressure, acne, depression, and decrease in sex drive. Also, I have repeatedly seen information that states if you have a strange fluid or odor coming from you vagina, you should get in touch with your health care provider.
Avatar f tn Most cysts, over 95 percent are benign. Cysts come and go depending on where you are in your cycle. While you don't get your period, you still ovulate. The doctor will probably want to repeat the test to see if there is any changes.
Avatar f tn I recently had the merina IUD put in and they think this is what caused it so they took out the IUD and and put me on low hormone birth control pills to shrink it. They told me about how it could twist my ovary and i would lose it so i have been taking it really really really easy because im not sure what losing an ovary will do to my chances of having children later. last night i was having pains in my lower side of my back so i went back today and they found out that it is now at 5cm by 4.
Avatar f tn turns out I had tons of cysts on both ovaries! Stayed a week in the hosp on an iv to shrink the cysts.. thnx to mirena.. I had it removed the day I left the hosp.. wish I never would've gotten it... BUT I kinda see it as a blessing in disguise.. I already have 3 lil boys... and always wanted a girl... 10 months after getting it removed I found out I was pregnant! And its a girl! I'm now 27 weeks :} good luk to u!
Avatar f tn Today I found out I have an ovarian cyst on my right ovary measuring 8.5x6.1x8.1. I only found out because I had an IUD inserted 1 week ago and a pelvic ultrasound was ordered to check the placement of the IUD. The mass is complex and septated and echoic, the doctor wasn't very good at explaining what that might mean and now I'm awaiting a semi-urgent MRI to evaluate the characteristics of the cyst.
Avatar n tn So I am reading everyone's story and I still don't seem to be relating to any of them. My Copper IUD came out in which I have no clue how long it was out of place. On Feb 14 is when I was aware of it hanging out of my cervix. I went to have it removed three days later at the urgent care. Since then I came on March 7th for about 3 days then it stopped. Of course that was very unusual as everyone knows when you have the copper IUD you have very heavy and lengthy cycles but Ignored it.
Avatar n tn I got the IUD on 3/21/06 and loved it ! Insertion was painful but not terrible. I loved not having to worry about pills, patches, condoms whatever. Well about 1 month after getting it I developed acne. It wasnt terrible but I never had acne before. I figured it was from the hormone in the IUD. I could deal with that. In mid - July I developed a yeast infection that would not go away.
Avatar n tn I told them that I had ovarian cysts but never went onto checking my pelvis. How is it possible these drs ignore what is going on with ovarian cysts. Anyway, I went to the GI doctor the next day, and after four hours of studies by ultrasound, and two different technicians, and three doctors checking me out. Found ruptured cysts and fluid in my abdominal cavity. They gave me low dose of antiinflamatory meds, antibiotics, and tylenol#3.
724384 tn?1230920549 I definitely do not worry about cancer based on pain and IUD use at your age. Most ovarian cysts are related to ovulation. An IUD will not stop ovulation, it just reduces the ability of your uterine lining from holding a pregnancy.
Avatar n tn The hip thing is chronic I have dealt with it since I was 11 yrs old. The cyst is on the left and all of my hip pain is on the right. The MRI didn't really say what kind of cyst it is. Here is what it said: Frequent 6 cm leftt adnexal cyst. Follow up pelvic sonogram is suggested in 2-3 menstrual cycles to confirm resolution. Blooming artifact within the lower uterine segment which may represent a calcified fibroid, or postsurgical change. IUD is much less likely.
Avatar n tn Isn't it strange how differently these little alien (cysts) affect each of us. I have two 5-6cm complex cysts one on each ovary. They are suspected endometrioma's. While I'm aware of them, they aren't all that painful.
Avatar f tn I have had multiple ovarian cysts rupture, chronical ovarian/pelvic pain, several small fibroids. I have had an endometrial BX and D&C, negative. Never had laproscopy (GYN is suggesting it to rule out endometriosis). Contraception is NOT may main concern! Controling my painful heavy periods is the main issue while not giving me horrible migraines and HTN. My GYN is suggesting a hysterectomy at some point but until then a Merina IUD. The forums I read about this product scare me!
312323 tn?1193300534 It all started about four years ago when I had my second child, after I had him my friend told me about this new birth control called the mirena IUD, now I have had an IUD before, it was the paraguard but it was horrible I bleed for 4 months straight, and was in alot of pain, so when I heard that this birth control was the complete opposite I was very happy, I mean what woman wouldnt be?
Avatar n tn Hi, Don't apologise you are not rambling, we are all going through a hard, frustrating and painful time. Polycystic Kidneys sounds very painful, and ovarian cysts on top of that sounds even worse. I hope that you find a Doctor that listens. I don't understand how some Doctors think that they can just make a diagnosis within a minute and especially without looking at your previous test results, its shocking. I hope that you find decent specialists in at the clinic in Florida.
