Avatar n tn I think I would call your Dr., and tell him or her the same thing you told us. Cysts can and do sometimes last a few months . Since you have the diagnosis, I'd ask what the suggested treatment plan is ..I have no idea what type of IUD you have, but one that I've seen advertised on TV clearly states that ovarian cysts are a side affect, that will disappear.. otherwise I'm sorry I can't be more helpful..
Avatar n tn When I have ovarian cysts, they cause the same pain you described and cause constipation and sometimes affect urination. When my varian cysts burst, i get a pain and pressure that travels down to my rectum and the pain will stay for a few hours and then finally go away slowly.. I’m sadly used to the pain as i get it almost every month now but the first time sent me to the ER.
Avatar f tn About 10% of women using Mirena will develop an ovarian cyst. These cysts may disappear on their own in a month or two. However, cysts can cause pain and sometimes will need surgery I found this info under contracept.
724384 tn?1230916949 Hi, I am 22 yrs old. I have two boys. They are 5 and 4. I had the IUD put in after my 2nd child because I didnt want anymore kids for a lil while. And well its been 4 1/2 yrs now...and I have the worst pain on both sides (like both ovaries) And for the 1st week I was thinking well maybe im going through the monthly thing..then the pain got worse.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure what they're saying about the IUD but they are definitely indicating that you have ovarian cysts. The symptoms you're having are indicative and there is information on types of cysts and symptoms on the health pages (top right). I'm so surprised that they would give you the report without an explanation. What has your doctor said?
Avatar f tn I also have never had problems with cysts on my ovaries. I have had the iud in for a little over a year now and was just rushed to the er with a 7cm cyst on my right ovary and severe abdominal pain. I ended up having to have my ovary and fallopian tube removed on that side due to the cyst. My doctor did say it could have been caused by the mirena iud.
Avatar f tn I wondering if anyone has experienced my symptoms, and can lend some advice. Im 26yrs old and had ovarians cysts when i was a young teen. After having 2 children i had an IUD placed about a year ago. My monthly periods are usually regular and dont cause pain. Since last month, when on my period i have extreme pain on my right side, feels like someone is sqeezing my ovary. I am now experiencing the same feeling, along with lower back pain that receeds down my thigh.
Avatar n tn Get thee to another gyno for a 2nd opinion. Every woman on here can tell you that those symptoms can definitely be due to ovarian cysts. The enlargement could be due to an internal cyst or another issue. Take a look at the health pages and you can see the lists of symptoms. Good luck. Please keep us updated and a pox on your gyno.
Avatar f tn My ob/gyn wants to put me on Mirena and she says that will help with the ovarian cysts. While I do not disagree with her, it has been difficult to get to her office as soon as I start my period (which is when she says I need to come to insert the IUD). My periods are horrible for one, and the past couple of months they have started on a weekend. Plus, I am wondering if an ovarian cyst could be causing all this?
Avatar f tn my sister had major problems with her IUD and they all went away after she removed it
Avatar f tn So I got the IUD in on August 10, 2010. I just recently went in for my 1 month check up and the doctor discovered that i have a cyst in my ovary should I be worried? As of right now i am really scared to know that i have a cyst after having the IUD. Please someone give me some advise on what I should do.
Avatar n tn Went to get an U/S and my doc told me I had a couple cysts (that would most likely go away on their own) and that my IUD was hanging low. A week later my pain has lessened. What were your results, since your original post was in August?
Avatar f tn Are yu planning on breastfeeding because some bc isn't supposed to be taken while bf...I plan on using the ortho evra patch it seems convenient because I dont have to remember to take it everyday...
Avatar f tn I have done quite a bit of research on the correlation of the IUD and Ovarian Cysts because I had never had them before the IUD. It seems that it can be a "side effect" in 10-20% of women. Lucky me. I go back and forth about having the IUD removed. On one hand the 99.9% effective rate is very comforting, but is it worth the monthly pain. Not to mention it affects my relationship and my job! Who can concentrate when you are taking vicodin on a daily basis.
Avatar f tn ve had the IUD in for about 5 months now I totally stopped haveing periods all together since a week after I got the mirana iud in...me andmy bf are very sexually active andwe depend on the mirana 100% and about 2days ago I started getting uterus cramps and just a very little bit of blood could I be prego has this happened to anyone else?????
Avatar f tn Mirena was more hormones, worse periods etc. paraguard gave me ovarian cysts I had reactions to the copper it started to embed in my uterus .
Avatar n tn I am suffering from the same exact symptoms Ive even had to go to the ER twice for pain relievers that did not work! Ive been diagnosed with ovarian cysts on my right side. Dull stomach pains and severe lower back pain, and pain down thighs. This also has made me very stressed out causing insomnia. Also my mother had this when she was my age as well and she said it stopped after a while. To make you feel any better I did read that 90% of women will go through this in their lifetime.
Avatar f tn Every few months I get ovarian cysts. It started a year ago when I got sudden pain and they sent me to the ER. They said they are fluid filled so all I can do is take pain relievers and wait for them to rupture or go away. I've had several trips back to the ER for these cysts because they mimic symptoms of appendicitis. While I'm at the hospital, they realize that the only pain killers that help are the really strong ones (the ones that make you all loopy).
Avatar f tn Today I found out I have an ovarian cyst on my right ovary measuring 8.5x6.1x8.1. I only found out because I had an IUD inserted 1 week ago and a pelvic ultrasound was ordered to check the placement of the IUD. The mass is complex and septated and echoic, the doctor wasn't very good at explaining what that might mean and now I'm awaiting a semi-urgent MRI to evaluate the characteristics of the cyst.
Avatar f tn I started the pill 6 wks after I had my daughter an it gave me horrible headaches which I weird because I was on it for 6 years before I had my daughter so then I tried the IUD an it gave me ovarian cysts so I went without...
Avatar m tn m 20 years old and just recently in the past couple months, I was told I had an Ovarian cyst that ruptured and now have a folicle on my right ovary. I was also told I have a few Uterin Fibroids. My doctor told me I had nothing to worry about but I was quite insistent that something be done, because I have been living in pain for the past couple months. I'm wondering what the liklihood of having both cysts and fibroids is and what I should do about it.
Avatar n tn All he found was small cysts on my left ovary, which he drained. The pain on my left side started after 10 months after I had my tubes blocked (essure procedure). Are you familiar with the this procedure? I live in a small town and here not everybody is up to date with this procedure. Last time I went for a vaginal ultrasound the technician asked me if I had an IUD.
1701959 tn?1488551541 So in May I had a sonogram due to some discomfort and it was found that I had an ovarian cysts the size of a gulf ball. Since then the pain has increased and a recent sonogram shows it is now the about 6 cm so I am being sent for the CA 125 marker to make sure we are ok. They said it looks like simple cyst, fluid filled but I am scared to death! Also, I have never had ovarian cysts before when I was on the pill but since I came off of it and got the MIrena IUD I now have this cyst.
Avatar f tn I had the Mirena IUD placed after my son was born 3 years ago. I have had pain on my left side for the past 6 months. I have had several ovarian cysts during that time (mind you after my daughter was born i had my right ovary removed due to a large ovarian cyst 17mm). I had it removed in July 2011 thinking that it was causing the pain. I did not have a period the whole three years I had it.
13415927 tn?1430701518 Welcome to the community. Some women have more symptoms than others with ovarian cysts. I had one that did not cause any symptoms until it got to 9cm at which point I had one day of unrelenting pain (but nothing prior to that) which then subsided even though the cyst did not rupture. When cysts get large, they can also cause urinary symptoms as they may be pressing on the bladder. Bowel changes may also occur. I hope your treatment (continuous birth control?) works for you!
Avatar f tn Merina can cause menstrual irregularities and cramps but these effects are common in the first few months of its use. The hormonal IUD can cause noncancerous growths like ovarian cysts in few women. These can cause abdominal pain and spotting in between. The chances of ectopic pregnancy are increased with the use of IUDs.If you are doubtful about pregnancy take up the test. This is merely an advice.
Avatar m tn I have an IUD, my dr has mentioned me going on the pill, but I won't take out my IUD. Don't think I can take both? When I was on the pill before I got pregnant twice!
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with Ovarian Cysts of and on for the past 5 years. They topically just come and go never have I been in pain from them and the never got any bigger than a centimeter. I just had an ultra sound that showed a large black mass attached to my right ovary. I have an IUD in place and for the past month I have had abdominal pain ranging from sever to managable. I also have bouts of nausea and constipation.
