Common Questions and Answers about Ovarian cysts ultrasound results

ovarian-cysts

Avatar n tn It sounds like you have a small ovarian cyst. Most cysts are benign and resolve on their own within a few cycles / months, no intervention needed. Imaging is not exact (MRI may be more so than u/s) so it can be difficult to tell the type of cyst. Some cysts that resolve on their own can appear solid on imaging such as hemorrhagic. 635774 tn?1222751413 All this means is that you have a cluster of cysts that are looking like polycystic ovarian syndrome. Ovarian cyst can be normal. The only time they consider it a syndrome is when you are having complications do to the cysts like insulin resistance, irregular or absent periods, annovulatory cycles, etc. If you Doc was concerned I'm sure he would have talked to you about it. But if your worried don't hesitate to call you doctor and have then explain your results.
Avatar m tn A 1.6cm ovarian cyst is very small. Most ovarian cysts resolve on their own, no intervention needed. Ovaries cannot always be seen on imaging. I hear this quite often...radiologist or u/s tech couldn't see ovary(ies). They are small (the size of an almond) and can be sort of hidden.
Avatar f tn I received a summary of my ultrasound results and it says there is a complex cystic mass on the right ovary and a solid nodule with increased vasculature with free fluid in the cul-de-sac. I am unsure of what this means. Could someone please help with my question?
Avatar f tn Most ovarian cysts, even complex ones, are benign. The average woman's lifetime risk of ovarian cancer is very low - 1.3%. However, with your grandmother having had the disease, your risk may be greater. But it is important to determine your risk factors (e.g., BRCA1 and BRCA2 testing) before undergoing something as drastic as female organ removal with all its long-term negative effects.
Avatar f tn Most ovarian cysts are benign. 98% are benign. A woman has a 1.4% of eve getting ovarian cancer. Less if you are under 50.

Avatar f tn These are the results my pelvic ultrasound...".....the uterus is nomal in size & shape with one small serosal hypoechoic mass suggesting a uterine fibroid, 1.1 cm by 1 cm by 0.8 cm......endometrial stripe is 2-3 mm.....the ovaries are identified and are normal with the largest left ovarian cyst 1/2 cm in diameter. The right ovary measures 2.8 cm by 2.0 cm by 1.7 cm and left ovary measures 2.5 by 2.4 by 2.3 cm....
Avatar f tn Recently I received a copy of my ultrasound results, but I am unable to meet w/ my doctor for another month. I was hoping you could shed some light on my results and explain what it could mean. Right Ovary: normal in size measuring 2.5 X 2.8 X 2.2 cm. Right ovary contains a 1.5 cm cyst. Left Ovary: normal in size measuring 1.8 X 2.8 X 1.6 cm. Left ovary contains multiple subcentimeter cysts or follicles the largest of which measures 0.9cm. Normal ovarian blood flow bilaterally.
Avatar f tn I followed up with my obgyn/surgeon because it was recomended that I have an ultrasound. I am having the ultrasound next week. He said if it is a cyst it doesnt matter because he was just in there in June and said it would not likely be cancer. He also said they might have just seen my cervix. He is more concerned about what he thinks is a supraumbilical ventral hernia. I am not worried about cancer either but is it appropriate to just be like oh well it is a cyst no big deal.
Avatar f tn I have read that sometimes Ovarian Cancer can have the same symptoms as these other problems. Is that true? Also, what is your interpertation of the following results from my ultrasound. Status: Post Hysterctomy & Left Oophorectomy (this was done in 2006 for problems with very heavy bleeding and cysts on my left ovary) Right ovary measures 5 by 8.8cm (Isn't that big?) and has several cysts or dominant follicles. It also has a 3.
Avatar f tn I have no idea what my results mean. I have an ovarian cyst and I'm nervous about cancer. My doctor is referring me to a gyno to see whats inside the cyst. Whats all this mean here are my u/s results. Large hypoechoic nodule left ovary measuring 6.2 x 6.2 x 6.0 cm. This has mild internal echogenicity and likely due to slightly complex cyst.
Avatar f tn Size of right ovary: 2.4 x 2.3 x 1.4 cm Left ovary: 6.4 x 6.1 x 3.0 cm Two large anechoic cystic structures. Size of cysts: Cyst 1: 5.9 x 5.0 x 3.3 cm 50.9 cc Cyst 2: 2.5 x 2.3 x 2.2 cm 6.6 cc There is no evidence of uterine abnormality. The right ovary is normal in appearance. There is a septated cyst of the left ovary which is mostly unchanged from its appearance on Jan 26. There are no nodules or papillary projections.
Avatar f tn The typical presentation of ovarian cysts associated with PCOS is a strand of pearls which cannot always be differentiated as separate cysts on ultrasound. These types of cysts do not require treatment. Girls / women with PCOS who are overweight can usually improve their insulin resistance as well as the other characteristics of PCOS by losing some weight. Best of luck in finding a doctor who can help her.
306594 tn?1443387857 A fundal fibroid is evident measuring 2.0 x 2.0 x 1.8cm. It appears to be pedunculated and shows evidence of movement separate to the uterus. Nabothian cysts are evident and there is evidence of cyst calcification. A 1.6 x 1.5 x 1.2cm cyst is associated with the left ovary and shows evidence of a daughter cyst and may represent a prominent follicle. The right ovary is unremarkable. No adnexal pathology is detected. There is no free fluid.
Avatar f tn I am concerned that a diagnosis of PCOD is just masking something worse. An ultrasound indicated the following: Cul-De Sac : small amount of fluid was noted Endometrium: Trilaminar Thickness (mm) 5 Rigth Ovary Size (cm) L 4.47 W 1.83 H 2.07 volume 8.9 Left Ovary: L 4.35cm W2.16 H 2.34 Volume 11.5(cc) Comments: Anteverted Uterus appears normal in size and contour withut masses. Endometrial cavity echo = 5.0mm Both ovaries appear slightly enlarged with more than 12 follicular cysts.
946578 tn?1258663287 t think you could feel ovarian cysts through your skin unless maybe they are very large, or the ovaries themselves are enlarged (?) What kind of doctors are you seeing, any specialists?
Avatar f tn Just got my results from my pelvic ultrasound done on Fri. I hope to meet with my OBGYN right away. Been having symptoms for a few months and hadn't gotten anywhere with dr's - they were thinking IBS when I have no symptoms of it. Abdominal ultrasound came back normal. I then pushed for a pelvic ultrasound and just had it done at the lab on Fri. They found a simple cyst on 1 ovary and a septated cyst on the other. I had a C-section 17 months ago and a history of endometriosis. I am 34.
Avatar f tn t think you need to be worried based on those results. Cysts that are worrisome for ovarian cancer are usually 5cm or larger and complex (have solid parts). Hemorrhagic cysts are very common. Most cysts (both simple and complex) do turn out to be benign. Be sure to have follow-up to confirm that your cysts are not growing larger. But, to me, it sounds very good in terms of NOT being malignant.
Avatar f tn I had an ultrasound done on my right ovary, can you please explain these below results? Also should I be worried about my ovary size because the normal size is 1.5 cm? findings: the right ovary is enlarged measuring 7.6 x 4.4 x 3.7 cm with a relatively large right ovarian probable simple cyst measuring 4.1 x 4.1 x 4.2 cm with a contiguous complex cyst possibly a hemorrhagic cyst measuring 3.2 x 3.1 x 4.
Avatar m tn Hi. I had Transvaginal Ultrasound, and got the results below but the doctor did not interpret the findings. Please help me understand and interpret to me the results. Is there something I have to be worried of? here is the result: THANK YOU IN ADVANCE, I AM REALLY SO WORRIED. Uterus: 4.8x4.9x4.4 cm Retroverted No abnormalities appreciated Endometrium: 1.3 CM Hyperechoic Right Ovary: 4.7x5.1x3.
Avatar f tn Presence of loculation in the cyst, presence of papillary excrescences which are localized overgrowths of the epithelial lining of a cyst are indirect pointers of malignant ovarian cysts on ultrasound.Endovaginal ultrasound provides more reliable information compared to abdominal ultrasound. It can in few cases do predict about the risk of malignancy if done by an expert ultrasonologist but it can definitely not be confirmed.
