600006 tn?1219851570 the utrasound came back showing that I did have some ovarian cysts. The Doctor told me that the cysts were normal and to not worry about anything unless I have pain. Now I know ovarian cysts are normal and that when you have your menstral cycle it washes them out, so I am not so much worried about having them, I am more concerned about the Doctor being an idiot... There has to be some kind of reason that I have not started my period.

Avatar f tn i am getting tired of being fobbed off by my own GP and would like to know if these are possible symptoms of ovarian cysts ....and how do I approach my GP and ask for a proper examination / scan to determine it???...it is really getting me down....thanks for your patience!
Avatar f tn suggested you do ? Ovarian Cysts and ovarian cancer can cause many similar symptoms. There is absolutely no way to tell for certain unless and until surgery is performed and the path results come back. Having said that, cysts are very very common and 95% benign. The best course of action is to speak with your physician to see what his recommended course of action is. They may possibly suggest removal, but sometimes, they prefer to wait awhile to see if they resolve themselves.
Avatar f tn After doing extensive research on ovarian cysts on the web I have noticed that a couple of websites have incorrect information. The BUPA website and Patient UK website (relevant to UK people only I know) for instance give the impression that more cysts are malignant than other sites say. BUPA say that half of all post menopausal cysts are malignant, but this is completely at odds with other sites which say that most are benign.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have a couple of questions about ovarian cyst symptoms. Do ovarian cysts cause mid cycle spotting and lower back pain? And if so how common are these symptoms?
Avatar f tn Do ovarian cyst symptoms and ovarian cancer symptoms look the same? I ask because I have the following: -gas -bloat/distended stomach -pressure -changes in BM's (constipation and diarrhea) -get full easily after eating -tired/fatigues -heartburn/indigestion -changes in menstruation Thank you.
Avatar f tn HI NIKI THE ANSWER IS THIS IF THE DOCTOR REMOVED THE CYST WITH YR OVARY IF YOU HAVE ONLY 1 OVARY CLEAR OF ALL PROBLEMS YES YOU CAN CONCIEVE THE BAD NEWS IS THAT IF YOU DONT THEN THE OTHER OVARY IF THE OTHER IS BLOCKED TOO OR HAS ADHESIONS OR POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME ETC THEN THE CHANCE OF YOU GETTING BETTER IS NOT GOOD WITHOUT SOMEONE DOING AN OPERATION CALLED A LAPAROSCOPY THE CYST IF TENABLE WILL BE REMOVABLE IM SURE THEN ALSO THE OTHER ANOMALIES THEN THE PROGNOSIS OR OUTLOOK IS GOOD THE FACT
256161 tn?1196879046 I know lyme causes all kinds of different cysts. I'm not sure about the ovarian cysts though as they are quite common in women in general. Flagyl is a cyst buster so if you have lyme you may feel the herx reaction.
Avatar f tn since I had my surgery on two ovarian cysts I have had more pain. I think that due to scar tissue, or other surgery related things, the pain before my periods, and if i have a small cyst is heightened. however, i do think that it is important you go to the doctor if you are feeling excruciating pain. you must always listen to your body, and if you are in a lot of pain, it could be a sign that something is wrong and needs immediate attention. i know your frustration.
1088009 tn?1256663361 Maybe the TVUS will show something else. Did they see the "missing" ovary on the CT Scan? I'm really skeptical about that statement that a dominant cyst can help with ovulation. We know of plenty of instances when it has the opposite effect. The real problem with cysts are the ones that stick around too long.
Avatar f tn Many of the symptoms you describe sound like ovarian cysts but unfortunately, ovarian cancer tumors also cause the same symtoms. You need to get a transvaginal ultrasound to rule out an ovarian mass. Odd are with you that you DON'T have ovarian cancer. I can say, I was floored to even know that was a possibility in my dx. I never suspected such a thing. Just tell your doctor you are having pain and the symptoms you listed. Insist on a transvaginal ultrasound.
Avatar n tn I hear that ovarian cysts have the same symptoms as pregnancy. Anyone have experience with them and can tell the difference?
Avatar n tn I went to my primary who thought it was appendicitis on examination even though I mentioned a history of ovarian cysts in my mother, and my aunt died of cancer. The doctor sent me to the emergency room. I underwent a CT scan (which was "normal") and an ultrasound. (I never got the reports.) The ultrasound tech said that it was difficult to "see anything." She said that there was so much contrast from the CT that she could not see my ovaries.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me i had sciatica in my left leg, and that it would go after 3 or 4 weeks on its own, but it hasnt, and im starting to think my symptoms are maybe that of a cyst/cysts on my ovary. I had the Depo-Provera contraception injection in january, and since that, my symptoms have become alot worse, and ive suffered with persistent bloating and weight gain. But im still unsure as this could be water retention due to the injection.
Avatar m tn As the other poster said, larger ovarian cysts can cause urinary urgency. So can large uterine fibroids. Most cysts go away on their own within 2 or 3 cycles so I would not worry much unless your symptoms worsen especially if you start having pain which could be a sign of the cyst rupturing, leaking, or twisting the ovary. Since most cysts resolve on there own, there should not be any impact on fertility.
Avatar f tn before your lap procedure did he do ultrasounds and find anything? Your symptoms sound like classic ovarian cyst symptoms. seems like it would have been typical to do ultrasounds prior to cutting?
Avatar n tn What is the difference between ovarian cysts and ovarian cancer. I haven't had a period for 3 months now and I have a sharp pain in my lower right side, as well as back pain, especially in the mornings. once in a while i am off balance when walking. i am bloated, and a lot of times i don't have an appetite.
Avatar n tn Although it’s not known for sure whether benign ovarian cysts or polycystic ovaries develop into ovarian cancer, the vast majority of ovarian cysts appear to be unrelated. Women who have polycystic ovaries or ovarian cancer seldom have obvious symptoms early on. However, in both disorders, symptoms are noticed as the condition progresses. Because the ovaries are affected on both disorders, the some of the symptoms can be similar.
1570931 tn?1315840395 And ive been having an almost constant body ach for two days along with a bad back pain,(in my upper back and its normally in my lower back) took a hpt today and it was BFN Not sure what to think though, i dont normally get sharp pains like this so part of me is worried my cysts came back, (I used to get hormonal ovarian cysts when i was younger)
Avatar f tn I would say that you do have symptoms of an ovarian cyst, but those are also symptoms of other problems as well. I will be anxious to find out what the ultrasound says. I am sorry that you are feeling so badly!! I hope you get some relief soon.
