Avatar n tn Benign dermoid ovarian cysts uncommonly cause symptoms in young girls. It is estimated that they constitute 0.35% of all tumors occurring in children of both sexes less than 15 years of age. Symptoms produced by the cysts may mimic other intra-abdominal disease, and in three of the four cases reported in this series the girls were initially considered to have either acute appendicitis or infection of the urinary tract. All three had a pelvic mass palpable per rectum.
Avatar n tn Although it’s not known for sure whether benign ovarian cysts or polycystic ovaries develop into ovarian cancer, the vast majority of ovarian cysts appear to be unrelated. Women who have polycystic ovaries or ovarian cancer seldom have obvious symptoms early on. However, in both disorders, symptoms are noticed as the condition progresses. Because the ovaries are affected on both disorders, the some of the symptoms can be similar.
Avatar f tn before your lap procedure did he do ultrasounds and find anything? Your symptoms sound like classic ovarian cyst symptoms. seems like it would have been typical to do ultrasounds prior to cutting?
Avatar f tn Hello, There are specific types of ovarian cancer that are more often found in children and adolescents that are different from those found in older women. In children and young girls ovarian cancer usually presents as an ovarian mass and typically they only report pain if the ovary twists and its blood supply is cut off. So, ovarian cancer in young people is overall uncommon, but definitely occurs. Your symptoms would be atypical.
Avatar f tn can i have children with an ovarian cyst? i had an chimacle pregnacy and lost the baby i was really eairly is this normal? and is this going to happen again?
1570931 tn?1315840395 And ive been having an almost constant body ach for two days along with a bad back pain,(in my upper back and its normally in my lower back) took a hpt today and it was BFN Not sure what to think though, i dont normally get sharp pains like this so part of me is worried my cysts came back, (I used to get hormonal ovarian cysts when i was younger)
Avatar f tn t work follicle stimulating drugs like gonal-f or follistim (injections) can do the trick. If you have you U/S and you have numerous cysts ovarian drilling may also be an option. It is a laproscopic surgery that "pops" you cysts and helps release androgens (male hormones) and almost immediately returns hormones to normal.
Avatar n tn You want a transvaginal ultrasound and a CA-125 bloodtest to rule out ovarian cancer. I know nothing about ovarian cysts, but they are much more plentiful than ovarian cancers -- and almost always benign -- so try to "think positive." If, after examination, your gynecologist suggests that surgery might be in order (even for cysts), please be sure you get a gynecological oncologist (who will have several years more training and is a specialist in gyn surgery) for the surgery.
551683 tn?1220656108 The symptoms you are describing are very much in line with ovarian cysts. Do you know what size or type of cysts you have? Surgery for cysts depends on size, type and whether you are in pain. In many cases if surgery is required it can be done laporascopically. Don't ignore the cysts. You really should have a gyn dealing with them. Take a look at the health pages attached to the ovarian cyst forum. There is some good information on types of cysts that you might be helpful.
Avatar n tn Ovarian cysts are extremely common - so do not worry. However, they can also be extremely painful and can grow extremely large. Each month, when a woman ovulates, small follicles form on the outer part of the ovary. These follicles look like little marbles almost through an ultrasound. Now, during your period - these follicles are, keyword here 'supposed' to break free with the lining of your period but for some women, they do not.
Avatar f tn suggested you do ? Ovarian Cysts and ovarian cancer can cause many similar symptoms. There is absolutely no way to tell for certain unless and until surgery is performed and the path results come back. Having said that, cysts are very very common and 95% benign. The best course of action is to speak with your physician to see what his recommended course of action is. They may possibly suggest removal, but sometimes, they prefer to wait awhile to see if they resolve themselves.
Avatar f tn I had a CT Scan for these problems and it showed a cystic mass on my ovary so I had to go to my Gyn and had a Pelvic Sonogram. I have read that sometimes Ovarian Cancer can have the same symptoms as these other problems. Is that true? Also, what is your interpertation of the following results from my ultrasound. Status: Post Hysterctomy & Left Oophorectomy (this was done in 2006 for problems with very heavy bleeding and cysts on my left ovary) Right ovary measures 5 by 8.
2129701 tn?1335494396 There are a host of symptoms, and probably most women with PCOS don't exhibit all of them. Like any "syndrome", the condition isn't a disease, in and of itself, but rather a constellation of symptoms that, when put together, is diagnosed as PCOS. The most basic aspect of PCOS is cystic ovaries. The typical consequence is anovulation and irregular periods. That's what typically brings women to the doctor to determine the cause.
Avatar n tn I think possibliy you mean ovarian cysts instead of ovarian fibriods as fibriods are assoicated with the Uterus and ovarian cysts are associated with the ovaries.
Avatar n tn I had 2 large ovarian cysts removed last May along with a full hysterectomy. I had suffered from the time I can remember with Heavy periods and also bad cramps. I had endometriosis which destroyed my insides ...I am not aware that size matters regarding ovarian cysts..I would discuss your options with your doctor. I didnt want a hysterectomy..because of hormones, menopause etc... i was 40 at the time. I was told if there was cancer or anything susipicous I would need the hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn I am 42 yrs and have 3 children, I had an ovarian cyst removed when I was pregnant with my first who is 15yrs. for the past 2 weeks i have been having pains around my left ovary.
Avatar f tn HI, Even though you may not want any more children, you are too young for a hysterectomy. The bleeding can be stopped with help of haemostatic medicines and with use of hormones like progestins. Also a D&C may sometimes be necessary to stop the bleeding. The ovarian cysts need further evaluation regarding their size and nature. Many of the cysts in young women respond to birth control pills or regress spontaneously. Hence it would be best to consult a gynaecologist for an evaluation.
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts can cause ovarian enlargement and the majority of ovarian cysts are benign. Did you have a scan to determine if you have visible cysts? Most cysts go away on their own. If this persists for you, you may want to talk to you doctor about the possibility of your having an underlying condition like PCOS or endometriosis. But, even with these conditions, the majority of women are still able to conceive.
Avatar f tn iam 15 and just found out i have ovarian cysts on both of my ovaries iam going to a gyn on thursday.....i was just wondering if in the future if i want to have kids will this poss a problme?
Avatar f tn Do ovarian cyst symptoms and ovarian cancer symptoms look the same? I ask because I have the following: -gas -bloat/distended stomach -pressure -changes in BM's (constipation and diarrhea) -get full easily after eating -tired/fatigues -heartburn/indigestion -changes in menstruation Thank you.
Avatar n tn t jump to any conclusions . It might be that you have Ovarian Cysts which are very common in younger women. Most of the time they will just go away on their own. At the top right of this page, there is a "Health Pages" section. There is a lot of information on ovarian cysts. A Transvaginal Ultrasound will show anything that may be wrong, but I truly doubt there is anything to worry about.
Avatar f tn i am on BC which the first month I started I did the ultrasound again about 2 months in and the cyst shrunk and changed from slightly complex to complex, then I recently had another (5months later) and that shows increase in size (only approx 3cm) but from a little under the 2cm on prior- but COMPLEX --- My mothers sister had ovarian cancer and no children...I have no children (37) but have been dealing with this for about 2-3 years ( i lost exact tract) I am also told I do have endo.
Avatar f tn s they usually just prescribe you birth control to regulate it. I have been in your same situation. Too bad for me it was PID instead of ovarian cysts, which if left untreated can cause scarring on your reproductive organs making it impossible to have children or possibly and ectopic pregnancy which can also lead to a mandatory hysterectomy and sometime even death. But hopefully in your case its just a cyst.
Avatar f tn I know of many people who have had ovarian cysts and have head children..One friend had a few, they burst spontaneously, and she has a 3 year with another on the way......My best friend had a large ovarian cyst when we were in college and had to have the entire ovary removed, and she can still have children...It just makes your other ovary work double time! Lots of Luck!
Avatar n tn Hi, I have a couple of questions about ovarian cyst symptoms. Do ovarian cysts cause mid cycle spotting and lower back pain? And if so how common are these symptoms?
256161 tn?1196879046 I know lyme causes all kinds of different cysts. I'm not sure about the ovarian cysts though as they are quite common in women in general. Flagyl is a cyst buster so if you have lyme you may feel the herx reaction.
