Avatar n tn Someone I know recently has been diagnosed with ovarian cysts and is experiencing heavy night sweats. She is only 33 years old and is wondering how to relieve her symptoms.
Avatar n tn Polycystis Ovarian Syndrome was named for the appearance of the ovaries (which often are bumpy looking with lots of cysts on them), but it is certainly not the only symptom. It is important to understand that just because a woman have ovarian cysts doesn't mean she has PCOS. Blood work can help to diagnose PCOS. The cysts that appear with PCOS are a result of egg follicles not fully maturing or being released.
256161 tn?1196879046 I know lyme causes all kinds of different cysts. I'm not sure about the ovarian cysts though as they are quite common in women in general. Flagyl is a cyst buster so if you have lyme you may feel the herx reaction.
Avatar n tn Yes this is appropriate for ovarian cyst treatment. She may have some bloating like a period and even carmping for a couple of days. Cysts are eggs that form and don't release. They are ususally recurrent, often cause pain then rupture on their own. Common treatment is birth control pills which stops ovulation. See a GYN so you can avoid the ER next time.
Avatar f tn It may help you avoid future cysts if you get treatment now. Often, hormones can be out of balance without PCOS and it causes those same symptoms. Usually, birth control pills are recommended to try to get your hormones regulated in cases where your system is out of balance. Sometimes, you have to press for answers with your doctor. They may now draw the connection between all of the symptoms without your addressing this issue with them.

Avatar f tn Male factors causing infertility are varicocoele, ejaculatory disorders, radiation exposure and advanced age. Ovarian cysts like polycystic ovarian disease can cause infertility. For more queries and assistance it is advised to consult a gynecologist. You will need evaluation for above mentioned causes. Consult an infertility expert. I sincerely hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!
Avatar n tn Some of the causes of irregular periods are ovarian cysts, stress, anemia, and hormonal disorders like thyroid and adrenal malfunction. Please consult your OBGYN as soon as possible as exact cause can be identified only after a clinical examination and tests like ultrasound and blood test. Take care!
Avatar n tn It is common for the pain to be intermittent with ovarian cysts. Most cysts do turn out to be benign and go away on their own in time. But, you will be able to rest easier if you can determine the source of your pain. Take care.
Avatar n tn But, ovarian cysts at any age can change your hormones and cause these types of symptoms. Unfortunately, no two ovarian cysts show themselves in the same way. So, it is hard to say without having tests to rule out all other causes. In general the list of symptoms you describe sound like they could be related to menopause. But, if you are under 45, then that is less likely. I think you should definitely see your gyn and have some tests to determine the cause. Welcome to the forum!

682122 tn?1233186551 Ovarian cysts are mostly benign, but there are riskier in older women. From what I have been told, in the case of older women, they might remove the whole ovary to avoid regrowth of the cyst. If discovered to be cancerous, they will remove both oavaries and fallopian tubes. It also depends on what type of cyst you have. Were you told? Talk to your doctor about how he/she plans on approaching this. Good luck!
Avatar f tn suggested you do ? Ovarian Cysts and ovarian cancer can cause many similar symptoms. There is absolutely no way to tell for certain unless and until surgery is performed and the path results come back. Having said that, cysts are very very common and 95% benign. The best course of action is to speak with your physician to see what his recommended course of action is. They may possibly suggest removal, but sometimes, they prefer to wait awhile to see if they resolve themselves.
Avatar n tn Cysts in or around the ovaries may be a sign of a number of things, including but not limited to PCOS. I also have cysts around my ovaries and was diagnosed with multicystic ovarian syndrome. My OBGYN is one of the top docs in Chicago and has practiced for 30+ years. So, basically, he's seen it all. Please note, multicystic ovarian syndrome is different than polycystic ovarian syndrome.

254714 tn?1316613355 i had done in Dec 2009 bilateral ocarian cysts areidentified once again. the right ovarian cyst appears complex vs two adjacent cysts with a combined cystic structure measuring 3.3*5.6*3.3 cm representing an interval increase in size greatest dimension of 4.2cm on 10/29/09 no color doppler blood flow is demonstrated nor nodularity internally. overall the right ovary measure 3.1*6.5*4.0 cm the left ovary is also slighty enlarged measuring 3.4*5.2*4.
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts can be very painful - however with everything else going on have they suggested any treatment for you? I would recommend making an appt with your doctor or even a second opinion to see what all is going on. In the meantime, one thing you can do is start keeping a journal of al of your symptoms. Be as specific as possible about what cycle day you are on, pain level, what the pain feels like, how long it lasts and what you do/take for it, and where the pain is.

Avatar m tn Hi Nancy, Did an OB/GYN give you these results (not the ultra sound tech or nurse)? They should have given you some sort instructions in terms of follow-up. I would be worried too if they just gave me information and didn't explain it to me. Assuming you are dealing with an OB/GYN could you call them and ask the questions you have? I know it's scary sometimes, but you deserve to have all of your questions answered. In the mean time: Mayoclinic.
