Hello all. I am new to this site. I have been reading the post and have found a lot of helpful information. For the last 4 months I have been feeling awful. Loss of appetite,weight loss, nausea,severe pain in back and under ribs and stomach area, excess gas I kept going to my GP and he brushed me off basically telling me I was fine. I kept enduring the pain. I demanded he give me back xrays and ct scan. They both were normal so they say.

My case can look rather particular in fact it is the second time in ten years that I have to undergo surgery due to ovarian cysts ruptures on my right ovary and every time the doctors in ER first think of an acute appendicitis which make them run a quantity of useless tests while I am in pain and makes me even more doubtful and worried.
After multiple tests (ultrasound, ct scan and MRI) I was told I have complex ovarian cysts 5×4 cm on both ovaries and pancreatic cyst that is over 1cm . I have 2 questions. 1. Since I very much refuse and will be refusing contraceptives , how else naturally can I cure ovarian cysts? 2. Can acidic taste in my mouth with coating on my tongue and lower back pain be due to pancreatic cyst?

Your abdominal symptoms of constipation and rectal bleeding are related to each other but are unrelated to ovarian cysts. A complex ovarian cyst is less common than simple ovarian cyst. At such a young age it can eb dermoid cyst which is a type of complex ovarian cyst and is the most common type and develops during the childbearing age. Complex ovarian cysts are generally benign. The risk of malignancy is generally higher among postmenopausal women.
During a CT scan for a lower GI issue, they found that I also had ovarian cysts on my right side. I was shocked and surprised. I have had recurring right side pain for years and never once connected it to my ovaries. I just figured it was joint pain normail with being 48 years old. So many things make more sense now with back pain, hip pain, leg pain, bloating.
Anyway, my PCP referred me to by GYN and my first appt is next week.
Sorry to hear about your mother's diagnosis and that she and your sister are BRCA1+. But glad to hear you do not have the gene mutation. It seems then that you should have a "normal" lifetime risk of ovarian cancer (less than 2%). MOST ovarian cysts, even complex ones, are benign (non-cancerous). Occasionally, complex cysts will go away on their own. Once they get larger than about 7 cm or are very suspicious looking, surgery is warranted.
suggested you do ? Ovarian Cysts and ovarian cancer can cause many similar symptoms. There is absolutely no way to tell for certain unless and until surgery is performed and the path results come back. Having said that, cysts are very very common and 95% benign.
The best course of action is to speak with your physician to see what his recommended course of action is. They may possibly suggest removal, but sometimes, they prefer to wait awhile to see if they resolve themselves.
Hi Everyone, I just wanted to know the experience of others. I had a laparoscopy done yesterday where a large cyst was removed from inside each ovary. The surgeon also found multiple smaller cysts in right ovary. The surgeon informed me that he has sent the cysts for a biopsy and said ' lets hope it is not cancer'. My mother died of ovarian cancer at 42 so naturally they are more concerned.

Mostly they are symptomless But Ovarian cysts can, however, cause problems if they twist, bleed, or rupture. Most ovarian cysts will go away on their own. But if they cause the above mentioned symptoms then they need treatment.

What is the difference between ovarian cysts and ovarian cancer. I haven't had a period for 3 months now and I have a sharp pain in my lower right side, as well as back pain, especially in the mornings. once in a while i am off balance when walking. i am bloated, and a lot of times i don't have an appetite.
there are many women that have had false postive and false negative CA125s. At her age, Ovarian Cysts small or otherwise should be watched. I would suggest she follow up with a GYN. Did the CT Scan on Friday show any "masses" on her ovaries? Unless there are masses on her ovaries, I do not believe that she can have OvCa.

I had a ovarian cystectomy in 1986, total abdominal hysterectomy in 1994, bilateral salipingoophrectomy and ovarian cysts removed in 2005. This year I had a CAT scan for another medical issue and it was discovered that I had masses both right and left adenxal area. I went to the Cancer Institute of NJ for a consultation with a GYN/Oncologist. After numerous tests including MRI, Ultrasounds, CA-125 (negative) and I had lab work done which indicated I was premenopausal.
