Avatar f tn This was my second surgery (first... removal of ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids). My recent surgery was also to repair a small hernia and removing bowel adheshions (scar tissue). Both are believed to be a result of my first surgery - possibly returning to work and daily activity too soon. I have 2 questions? First, what is a recommend timeframe to resume daily activities (I.e.driving,etc.). My tentative return tobwork dare isn't until July. And...
Avatar m tn I'm 23 years old. and until now I had 5 times ovarian dermoid cysts that had been removed by laparoscopia surgery. the size of the cysts are usually between 5-12 cm. sometimes I had more than 1 cyst at the same time (it means 3 cysts that had been removed all together by surgery). I had 2 emergency surgeries because the cysts circled my ovary. Right now I have 11 cm ovarian cyst. This is the 6 time I need to take the cysts out by surgery. what can I do in order to prevent it?
Avatar n tn I'm 32 yrs... 16 yrs ago I had surgury to remove a 10 cm dermoid and my left ovary. I thought that was the end of it, but last week I had another surgury (laparoscopy this time) to remove another 10 cm dermoid cyst from my right ovary. Luckily my right ovary is still in tact. It turned out I had 6 dermoids lumped together, and the doctor said it's likely that I will develop more. I am eager to find natural ways to prevent this from happening again!!
Avatar m tn And who knows, there are probably more besides. Talk to the doctor, not all cysts (even ovarian cysts) form from too much estrogen, or anything of the sort.
Avatar m tn I am 31 yrs old and i have 2 kids. last wk. i found out that i have an ovarian cysts on my left side with 6.7 cm. i am very worried about it. is there other way to prevent this aside from surgery? 675329 tn?1297288378 If it continues growing and surgery is needed, why is the other ovary being removed? Most ovarian cysts, even complex ones after menopause, are benign. A frozen section can be done during surgery to check for malignancy. Removal of ovaries as late as age 75 is associated with earlier mortality since ovaries produce health-promoting hormones a woman's whole life. As far as the adhesions - Did you have a hysterectomy? Keep us posted.
1298207 tn?1331677531 t need any more male hormones. Also if you have a lot of cysts ovarian drilling is a good option I had it done in december of 2009 with phenomenal results. good luck hun i hope that helps.
1104206 tn?1407475591 Complex cysts must be watched closely (but yes it could be benign!) If you are really that concerned about ovarian cancer, the only true prevention is removal of ovaries, but that is an extreme measure unless the fear and the risk are very high. At least you are already in your mid 40s. I was 45 when I had my last natural menstruation so my ovaries shut down naturally at age 45 (early, yes, but possible). Getting approval for surgery in Australia is another matter.
256161 tn?1196879046 I know lyme causes all kinds of different cysts. I'm not sure about the ovarian cysts though as they are quite common in women in general. Flagyl is a cyst buster so if you have lyme you may feel the herx reaction.
Avatar f tn My husband is in the military so I don’t really have the second opinion options so I just wanted to see if anyone had some ideas of treatment, prevention, why I would continually be having these cysts. I also have three sisters (all from the same parents) who have never had any of these issues. Thank you for your time & help! * I did take the “cancer gene” test which was negative woohoo!

Avatar f tn HI, Even though you may not want any more children, you are too young for a hysterectomy. The bleeding can be stopped with help of haemostatic medicines and with use of hormones like progestins. Also a D&C may sometimes be necessary to stop the bleeding. The ovarian cysts need further evaluation regarding their size and nature. Many of the cysts in young women respond to birth control pills or regress spontaneously. Hence it would be best to consult a gynaecologist for an evaluation.
Avatar n tn I think possibliy you mean ovarian cysts instead of ovarian fibriods as fibriods are assoicated with the Uterus and ovarian cysts are associated with the ovaries.
Avatar n tn Interestingly I also have liver cysts - called simple cysts. There may be no connection of course. But I have read somewhere that ovarian cysts can be connected to PPIs. I also have gastro polyps as a result of long term use of PPIs. To avoid the polyps you might want to consider getting off PPIs once you have the acid reflux under control - and then seriously change your diet to make sure you don't get reflux again (less animal fats, sugars, acid food etc.).
Avatar f tn I had 5 lg ovarian cysts that my dr. (OBGYN fertility) wanted to surgically remove from my uterus. I had a friend tell me about CASTER OIL as a remedy for naturally removing the cysts by using "cold pressed caster oil compresses". I tried this and it worked !!!- it actually removed all 5 of my cysts!! Now my doctor is upset with me. Saying it's not safe. Really and surgery is?? People have use caster oil since Before Christ. Why is this not safe?
Avatar n tn Hi, my name is Jennifer. For about 3 years now, I have been living with ovarian cysts. At first it was my left ovary, but now it has been my right ovary that has been the source of difficulty. I have ended up in the hospital 3 times due to the pain that is caused when the cysts enlarge and bleed. I thought it was a burst cyst, but I think I was mistaken. The hospital visits were primarily due to the extreme pain I was in (the morphine did little to help!).
Avatar n tn Ovarian cysts are extremely common - so do not worry. However, they can also be extremely painful and can grow extremely large. Each month, when a woman ovulates, small follicles form on the outer part of the ovary. These follicles look like little marbles almost through an ultrasound. Now, during your period - these follicles are, keyword here 'supposed' to break free with the lining of your period but for some women, they do not.
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts are common and almost always benign especially if you do not have a family history of ovarian cancer. Unfortunately, far too many women lose an ovary or ovaries for benign ovarian cysts causing permanent health problems and reduced quality of life. 621010 tn?1221508226 I go to to my GI and he tells me that I need to go to a gyn-oncologist, because I have ovarian cysts. I had a transvaginal ultrasound today, and the tech, said it looked like grapes. That scares me. I am wondering if that is a normal sounding cyst?
Avatar f tn When the follicles are forming small cysts may be present in the normal ovary. These ovarian cysts which start during the normal function of menstrual cycle are called functional cysts which are of two types follicular cyst and corpus luteal cyst. Most of these cysts are harmless and disappear over a period of time. They are usually asymptomatic. In few patients cysts may cause menstrual irregularities, pelvic pain. In such cases medical help should be sought.
564029 tn?1216423219 There are different types of cysts, you can go to the link on the top of this page on the right that says health forum, and there is a list for all types of ovarian cysts. Did your dr. tell you what kind of cyst you have? Have you had a TV/US? During your reproductive years it is very common to get functional ovarian cysts that can disappear after a few menstrual cycles. Could it be your doctor is doing a watchful waiting to see if they go away? How long have you had the cyst?
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts can cause ovarian enlargement and the majority of ovarian cysts are benign. Did you have a scan to determine if you have visible cysts? Most cysts go away on their own. If this persists for you, you may want to talk to you doctor about the possibility of your having an underlying condition like PCOS or endometriosis. But, even with these conditions, the majority of women are still able to conceive.
